Ride to Conquer Cancer supporting WAIMR - Michael Epis

Hi everyone You may have noticed the banner at the top of the website advertising the SunSuper Ride to Conquer Cancer. This has been set up for people who wish to support my ride for the SunSuper Ride to Conquer Cancer.

What is it?

The Ride to Conquer Cancer is a 2 day, 200 km ride to raise funds for important research into understanding and ultimately managing the onset and progression of cancer.

For those who do not know, I am a Senior Research Officer within WAIMR and have been working in cancer research for nearly 14 years (11+ years with WAIMR). The research I am involved in is primarily focused in Prostate Cancer, but I have and still am involved in research associated with Melanoma, Glioblastoma and Breast Cancer. As a cancer researcher, I feel lucky to be able to go to a job each day that I really enjoy!

Being a cancer researcher is more than a job to us, it is about making a difference for the good of sufferers of this multi factorial and complex disease. In our lab, and WAIMR, we are passionate about the research we do and are always happy to chat about or show around our research to anyone who is interested. I personally am a great believer that presenting our research to the greater community is important, as a greater awareness by those not involved directly with research is an important part of solving the cancer puzzle! The Ride to Conquer Cancer is another great way for me as a researcher to show our passion and faith for the work we do.

Funds raised in The Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer will support important cancer research being undertaken at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR), Western Australias premier adult medical research institute, investigating the genetic and environmental causes of a range of diseases.
