agree and I'll give my opinion why.. She puts her feet into the stirrup and appears to let the stirrup hang a bit lower.

IMHO the benchmark for women riders in this state is Alana. Will wait and see how Lucy goes as her allowance starts to whittle away.

The toppy has weight ( and usually what the claimers get thrown on) for a reason ;)

Alana Williams best women rider we have seen, Lucy is great but is not strong enough when riding them out will bottom out when her claim finishes if she does not correct this before her claim is up.

:-? I think they may have done this a few years ago ?

Why not have a female jockey's only race during carnival time - maybe in one of the F&M race series.

A few names that come to mind

    Clare Lindrop
    Tegan Harrison
    Libby Hopwood
    Lucy Warwick
    Jamie Lee Kah
    Lisa Alpress
    Kate Mallyon
    Michelle Payne

    Sure there are others

Powder Puff Derby Falc.......and nothing against Lucy ...but...she is not in the same street as Alana...not to say she hasn't the potential, just has a long way to go. Let's just let her develop at her own pace for a while and see what eventuates.

    cheers

Great little rider who is very well managed. She is getting on the right nags. In her last 250 rides she hadn't ridden a winner longer than $12. Like most girls, she may struggle when her claim dwindles, but good luck to her. She's going about things the right way.

She's still 16 and doesn't want to be known as a female rider, what does that tell you. If determination, ambition and drive counts for anything she'll be the best, great hands and a great attitude, she will go a long, long, way. As for bull's statement she has won a heap of race particularly in the country on some very average non wining animals, there's no doubt that they run for her, haven't seen hands like that on an apprentice here since Ollie's apprentice days.

for sure @therealkramer - they were the 1st to come to mind.
there is also a couple up in QLD whos names I cant think of right now, pretty sure could assemble at least a dozen suitable for a race like this.

    :-? could we get a dozen open/listed class fillies/mares ?

A female jock riding well is one thing but doing it in Sydney is a completely different kettle of fish

Linda Meech for mine. Happy to back anything she is on.  In NZ, Danielle Johnson rides plenty of winners.

I thought you had deliberately left her out cos she is in a class of her own over here.

Michelle Payne is as good as any at getting horses into the money

Not to forget Claire Lindop.....she's as strong in a finish as any .

Nice treble today. $5.50, $1.85, $3.50. Like I said, whoever is booking her rides is doing a good job.

Maree Lyndon was the best by the length of the Flemington and Randwick straights, you weren't afraid of backing her in anything and she matched it against the likes of Dittman both Cassidys etc, etc.

Not sure who is managing Lucy. Is it her father?
