This is without a doubt the hardest Saturday card we have been faced with at Belmont Park this season and race 7 is no exception. You could easily make a genuine case for almost every runner in the field and eventually I have settled on the lightly weighted Saker. His effort over an unsuitable distance first-up without a trial behind Django over 1300m was excellent, sitting wide throughout and charging through the line into second. Stepping up to a mile suits him and carrying only 52kg I think he can give this a big shake. Raising Dubai is not well weighted with claiming apprentice Randy Tan being replaced by Jerry Noske but with Gris Caro, Cougar Express, Thunderclap Newman, I'm Feeling Lucky, Shalo, Paseo Del Prado and Senso all likely to be looking to take up a position on speed I can see Raising Dubai getting a lovely tow into the race from the 800m and being in the finish. Thunderclap Newman has won 2 of his past 3 starts and again draws perfectly in barrier 5. He will get the run of the race and probably deserves to be favourite. Senso is way too short in my opinion and Ryan Hill out of the saddle is a huge blow to his chances.

They have tried the cutaway, changing when barriers are drawn and now instead of having a 7 race card they are trying throwing a 4UP maiden as the 1st race. Hopefully this helps. Early days yet - there was 5 1/2 lengths between 2nd and 3rd - how long will own...

Sad state of affairs, saturday race day and only a few comments. Has everyone had enough of the bull$hit?? Hard to get excited when you start with a maiden, followed by a 2 horse race and not much better after that :-S
