Race 4 Werribee today on Racing.Com

Representing Sportsbet, today's sponsor and the Corp supplying the prices and fluctuations, is Nathan Brown an ex Richmond footballer with no idea about betting. He was spruiking number 12 That's a Blast being a huge go from 19.00 into 3.80. We just had a bet of 12,500 on it, he said. Of course they did. It's a whose who of punters backing this, he cr@pped on.

What he didn't say, either deliberately, or because he just happens to have no effing idea, was that two horses, Kislian and Moscon were scratched this morning, and were heavily favoured in the early betting markets, making up 50% of the market. Hence the 19.00 into around 4.50 price, after the scratchings were declared this morning. From there, the horse was in fact backed further, however the so called plonk didn't take place when the horse was, in Sportsbet's market, at 19.00 before this mornings scratchings.

What was even worse, is that two so called smart blokes in the studios at Racing.Com, Brent Zaraffa and Nick Ashman said nothing to correct him.

That was until literally 10 minutes after the race had been run, and Nick was lauding Zerrafa's selection of the winner as being his best bet of the day, and how it was $19.00 into $3.80, when Zaraffa finally said, big deductions though mate after those scratchings.

It's not just R.Com where this goes on. Glenn Munsie does it all the time on behalf of the Tote. As do the presenters on Sky.

I remember the good old days at the track where urgers would grab hold of unsuspecting punters and tip them. They were actually called touts. if the horse won, the tout would be back for a sling. If it got beaten, the tout disappeared into the ether until he could find another mug.

Look, if people watching, tumble into this deceitful cr@p, then in some ways, they deserve to lose, when, on most occasions, the horses being spruiked for the benefit of the Corps or the Tote, lose.

I'm old fashioned when it comes to rorting punters. What may have been accepted in the so called good old days, isn't today, especially from large betting Corporations and the stations representing racing.

Mind you, what else would you expect from the Corps and the TAB where punters decide to bet fixed odds, who cut punters back or ban them completely.

They do this while letting the mugs on, and hypocritically urging those very same mugs that they encourage and allow to bet beyond their means, to "gamble responsibly".
:-&

Another day of high quality racing the rail is out 4m and the track should be just in the soft range..hopefully plays fair like last week I think it should.

R3 Asharani, she will charge home late along with a few others it's usually a fantastic contest the provincial feature.

R5 Dawn Passage is a big chance of upsetting the fav, I think with better luck he definitely has California Zimbol covered..the wide draw this time suits his racing style better.

R7 Collette is easy in betting but was probably a bit short at $3, she looks a huge chance and will relish 2400 based on her storming finish last week..am very wary of Probabeel more so than Shout The Bar.

R8 I'll be backing Te Akau Shark e.w but place heavy..Danon Premium is a huge danger and ditto Addeybb but i wouldnt be confident which one to save on so will only back TAS and bet for a profit if he at least places.
I for one would love to see Melody Belle upset them all but the field is that strong she is maybe only a top 4 hope.Gets 2000m no problem and gets cover you would think from 4.
It's a very hard race Verry Eleegant too is flying i just have a small query back to 2000 obviously she was AWESOME at 2400 last start.
A brilliant race awaits!

Haven't checked the current state of the track as yet, it's going to be wet I'll bet..just trying to get a bit of discussion going on what is one of the best days racing the eastern states put on throughout the year

An initial observation from me re the feature race the Doncaster is this...how t.f is Super Seth only 8.50??
It staggers me maybe that's a testament to an even field? Has 55kg just 2 below the top of the scale and for mine is a decent risk to run a strong 1600 at Randwick..I'll EAT IT if it wins or even places :))
Melody Belle will run a huge race 57kg is an ask but she has earnt it, the spring form on wet tracks at 1600 and then 2000 suggest to me she can cope with it..am wary of some squib with 50.5 nutting her late but SS won't beat her home imo.

Seems like every second race day we are getting biased tracks in the east.
Yesterday both Melb and Sydney were front runners paradises and threw up a lot of rough results.
I get the "adapt" your betting to suit argument but it leaves everyone flat when the track favours the leaders.
Commentators skirted around bagging the track bias.
The blue diamond winner will be 20 to 1 next start. So will Streets of Avalon.
If you get on the day before on a back marker you have done your dough before they leave the mounting yard.
How many people are too stubborn to change their selection just in case the horse flukes an inside run and wins. (Like me) :(
