Friday nights are here to stay if turnover is to be maximised.
The Saturday night meeting was aided by a first four jackpot on Race 2.
Small fields in the last two races last night detracted from a good turnover meeting.
Those suggesting we should return to Saturday night racing are way off the mark.

Hey crew, thinking chariots could help me out here but anyone wanting to hand out a year 10 maths lesson feel free to comment.

Im well aware of the nature of creating a 100% win market ($2=50%, $4=25% etc) but how do you go about creating the equivalent of a 100% win market as a pure stand alone place market??

I can find info outlining books nowadays tend be offering somewhere between 18%-22% the win odds for place but that’s not really what I’m after more if you treated it as a seperate market how do you get that “perfect market”? Is it as simple as just going to 300%?

Change To Ease Out Rule

Part of a fairly lengthy explanation of a change in the application of the ease out rule from RWWA stewards. Full statement on HRA website along with changes to the slow sectionals policy:

"For the Ease Out Policy to work effectively, the driver of the horse
being eased out must also exercise due care and not resist the move when
not in a position to realistically do so.

In circumstances where the driver initiating the move does so
according to this policy, the driver being eased wider is expected to
react by moving wider as endeavouring to resist such movement when not
in a position to realistically hold the position is likely to result in
action being taken against them under the rules in the event of an
incident and interference resulting to either horse.

Stewards when assessing the circumstances of an incident will consider the degree of care exercised by each driver.

Basically, interference will occur for one, or more, of three reasons:

The driver attempting to shift ground does so suddenly or abruptly,
or his horse over-reacts when being taken outwards, leaving the driver
of the horse he is attempting to shift insufficient time to react to the
move,
The driver of the horse being eased fails to react to the move or
attempts to resist the move when not in a position to realistically do
so,
The horse being eased out does not respond to its driver’s efforts.

Any assessments by the Stewards in relation to interference will be
determined on the merits of each particular case, having regard to the
Australian Harness Racing Rules, the degree of care being exercised by
each driver, all of the above factors and any other relevant
considerations that may apply. It is entirely reasonable for a driver
easing outwards with a clear advantage to expect the move to be
completed without incident. If an incident occurs in those circumstances
it is highly probable that either the actions of the horse or driver
being eased wider were significant factors.

R2: No1 Rockmenow. $6 $1.90 available about this guy. EW all day. Looks the leader, grows a leg in that position. Plutonium up outside him does enough to keep Cordero in, can't see anything outside these 3 getting near it.

R5: No11 Belcatherine 1win by 5plc. Another good run from her last start. Perfect set up her, 3 back the pegs, there will be no speed early, hammer home so she will be in the perfect spot. Over 2/1 the place is very nice.

R6: No11 She's Our Hope. This has run on race written all over it. IMO Shirmaya can hold out Adda Tarantella and thought they would want to do that to sit on the fancied stable mate. Even if that doesn't happen should still be enough tempo and would probably end up with She's Our Hope sitting closer anyhow. Would love a better price but I think around the $2.30 is as good as its going to get.

R7: No6 Vespa 1 win by 10plc. Think this bloke is a fantastic place play. Back to last early, only 9 others to get around and most of them will be stopping. I still think the fave is going to be better sat up in better quality, can beat itself when it is the pea. Cant not have a cheeky win as well with the speed Vespa will be motoring at.

R8: No10 Bettorcopagoodone small EW. Love how this mare is going soft trip the pegs with Therugo in a race is a bet for me. Conversely I've been disappointed in Rakasinc for me, obviously massive class drop but have to take it on for a horse who might not get a great trip.

R9: No10 Black Jack Zac EW. You can leave me out of odds on Valbone. Rebel With A Grin can run a good race in front wont have to go 1.54 here If for some reason the did elect to sit on it the extra spot back for Black Jack Zac doesn't bother me, will probably just finish off better.

Not a meeting i'll be pinning the ears back at but still happy to have an investment or 5.

R1: No1 Bettor Finish win. Banking on Jnr being able to get this horse out better than he has in the past and being hard to catch. Far from reliable with a hitch in his gate but he is strong and is one of only a few for the night I thought was genuine overs @$11. Machlani @$26 is a silly price aswell.

R3: No2 Lightning Jolt EW. Shanway should win but Lightning Jolt will at least give him a scare sitting 1,1 on the back of Medieval Man.
