Bit of discussion couple of weeks ago Captain Mannerring vs Justasec.
Fair to say CM won the first argument winning next up against quality opposition Friday night at GP, Justasec disappeared into the wilderness no doubt for a bit of gear and fitness adjustments.
Read the form tomorrow and there they are 1&2 race 4, 7 horse field GP in what is an intruiging race.
Does Voakey question his race manners and come out hard or does he take the sit and be satisfied with getting out late and running second commonly known as a procession at GP.
I would suggest he is going to test him as his barrier manners under pressure are questionable.
Then there is the fly in the ointment LB Harper who could cross both of them.
If there is an early speed battle there will be a certain driver with eyes like "tom bowlers" waiting to pounce N Turvey ,, that horse last couple runs huge.
Maybe Packedmetalpanda can add some commentary or even give PTT a mention pre race.
All fun in love and war.
I will be on Jack William.
We will watch with interest.

R1: No5 Clarenden Hustler. $6 available with 365, I thought he was a 50/50 chance to cross, if he crosses I think he wins so the $6 is tremendous value. He has the best gate speed but the possibility of a concertina of the horses drawn under him might keep him out. The 1 horse loves this distance but 1 I think is a horror for it, needs to get off early.

R2: No1 Mighty Flying Deal. I think he leads and wins but I will likely be having something on Overboard Again first up, he has raced ok against far better opposition than this but will need some luck in running.

R3: No2 Sergeant Oats. EW price on Sportsbet, that appeals to me with this guy sitting nice and close and able to get over them even if Our Perkins gets a soft lead should Franco Joaquin not take him on early. Absolution is not the worst 100/1 pop.

R4: No2 Our Alfie Romeo. Early in the week this was looking a really nice bet at around the 4/5 mark but the scratchings have made it a watch only and maybe cheer on the one behind her to boost the early quaddie.

R5: No11 The Bucket List. Initially I was really keen on Speed Man, going back through the form though and seeing Motu Premier sit outside him and beat him, albeit over 2500m I thought he was vulnerable. Motu is likely to hold the breeze, The Bucket List 1,1 throughout, loved the last runm double figure odds will do me. Fly in the ointment could be Our Corelli going forward early but still happy enough 1,2.

R6: No6 Bill Hayley. Eastern states form looks good for this.

R7: No2 Hot Fraternity. Looks the best of the night for me, leads and wins. $3.50 with 365.

R8: No12 Mighty Conqueror. Off his first up run he picks himself, back to GP is the only query. If i'm having a good night a few dollars heavily place biased on Gangbuster hoping it leads for the master ACL might be the go.

R9: No2 Athabascan. Not going to tip against a $1.20 pop but I've always liked Four Needed, at 100/1 3 bacvk the pegs I'm happy to back him again heavily place biased.

R10: No7 Highroller Joe. Hates the winning post this guy but I thought driven ice cold early he can sprint over them.

Good luck all.

With a paucity of real top class horses in fast class ranks, he could have a field day as a returning 9 year old. Such a good natured stallion.....attractive bloodline and breeding proposition.
I am new to this forum but have read with much frustration all of the valid comments regarding the Current state of the pacing industry. There are the usual suspects handicapping, turnover, field sizes which used to be not being able to get a start in a race, short priced favourites the list goes on. I don't have statistics maybe jj has he seems fairly up to date with these things. Nowadays I watch from my lounge chair but I have never seen a more discriminatory body than the current. Pacing and greyhounds advertising vs the racing industry is a joke (just have a look at RWWA homepage for an example or listen to racing radio aptly named). How can the first two compete with the later given this bias. Victorian and NSW pacing to my knowledge is doing quite well whilst SA seem to be on the improve, why not WA ? I can go on forever but to me the the answer is RWWA is responsible for the current state. A result of bad decisions and not acting on industry advice for the past ten or so years. They answer to nobody and bury any bad publicity. The major problem being nobody measures their performance, if they did they would all be looking for a job.The TAB is up for sale, to me now is the time for both the pacing and greyhound industries to put there heads together and act on what has been going on for the past ten years. The next question is who do you turn to for help because it shouldn't be RWWA based on previous performance. The people of the greyhounds and pacing industry need to stop blaming themselves for not being the major turnover players and ask outside government bodies what RWWA are doing to fix the issues.
