R1: No3 As Happy As Larry. I like this gut tonight. I'd like to see him in the breeze, it is probably likely with Im Soxy happy to lob the 1,1 but it could easily go the other way. I just think he can sit outside of Stefsbest and go past him. EQ:1,3,4.

R2: Not a race i'm overly keen on. You would think Golden State would lead and win but there is some speed under him and they have openly stated the think he is better sat up (I'm not so sure). Simba Bromac has a great winning record, clearly has a big chance but he isn't one of mine. JayJays horse Neighlor is a blowout chance and probably represents the bet option for a couple of dollars EW. EQ: 4,5,7.

R3: No2 Bettor Aim. I think Bettor Aim is the more likely winner but at the prices Chiaroscuro is probably worth the punt. I had it pegged Chiaroscuro having a crack for the top, not quite getting it, Bettor Aim sitting on him and running over them but he could lead, not even have a crack for the lead. Tell you after 200m. EQ: 1,2,3.

R4: Not a race I'll be betting up in and it definitely doesn't look his race but Major Rush was a real flashing light run, he's out of the handicap here but I will be having the ash tray money on him and throwing him in the quad hoping for the pool. EQ: 2,3,8. 100% costs $81.

R5: No2 Rocknroll Lincoln. I have to stick with him, I think he will lead which is bloody hard in this race now but his biggest danger doesn't have a buddy to help keep the rate up like in previous years. I think that Saying Grace doing no work is a chance, some knocking that it was behind them in a close finish but then talking up El Jacko for the identical thing. I do however have doubts about it being a 2900m horse. I thought Runrunjimmydunn was a fantastic run, no idea how it would work for him to win and he probably does something similar running a nice race to be just behind them but at the price I again have to head back to the ash tray. You have to respect the fav, great horse, great record, too short in the market. Not a race i'm confident in but I do like it, heaps of questions should make it a greeat watch. QD: 2,3,5,11.

R6: No3 Lagoon Stride. I thought he would get a soft lead here and just be winning, $7.50 ladbrokes, I will be betting this one. Again his numbers don't say it but Jaxon Fella is bursting to win a race, soft on the pegs if he gets the gaps he will be flashing. Certainly not an in depth look into Bushido's form but odds on I will be staying away from. Can run some time but I'd want to see it here. QD: 1,3,6,10,11.

R7: No5 Caviar Star. He will probably win but again at those odds I'd want to see him to do it, it's not like he is just going to lead and do it as he likes. Ohoka Darcy is likely to lead and stop the last 80m but could just keep going. I actually give Parisian Party Girl a chance in this sat just up behind them, another few bob EW go. QD: 1,3,5,10,12.

R8: No10 Whoswhointhezoo. You want to back a horse that is going well, is racing genuinely and is at a nice EW price this is your guy. He will just sit on the fence somewhere and be all over them late. I think Clarenden Hustler is a winning chance but those odds are poison. There's a chance this is a hotly contested lead and that brings his stablemate Brookies Jet right into it at the 40/1, non of them might come in but there is some exceptional value worth a few coins about in this meeting. QD: 1,2,3,4,10. 100% costs $500!!! Def need a bolter in to make this one worth while.

R9: No10 Luis Alberto! Come on Luis stick it up em! (Sorry for spelling your name wrong last week mate).

R10: No7 Marry Catherine. I thought she was the leader and a bloody good chance of being the winner, looks like being some great value on offer about her.

Happy Punting.

Thought I'd start a new thread for the night as a whole. Last time I shared my thoughts they were woeful so wont be hard to improve.

R1: Bronze Seeker @$3.30 for me is a get to the bank and get on. He just leads and wins.

R2: Interesting race. Not betting here but tempting to have something on Golden State, i'm thinking he fires out hard to the top which will be exciting from 9 but that might be completely out of the ball park and they just grab hold hence no bet. Really liked Rock Me Over the other day and he's the other option if he gets big in the market but I don't know that he will be close enough in running to knock it off.

R3: Not as exciting. Libert Rose leads and wins, Mary Catherine gets up outside her then sits on Lady De La Renta, one of them runs 2nd, and the 1,11,12 for 3rd and 4th. 100% FF costs $24.

R4: Pretty keen Rock Diamonds EW. Argyle Red to lead for me and get really tired the last 80m or so. A bit of jostling between 2,3,4 and 5 to get sits up close to the speed will create enough tempo for Rock Diamonds to move into it over the last 1000m whenever the tempo drops. Wouldn't surprise me for Natural Disaster and Im Full Of Excuses to also run on from the back and fill the top 3.

R5: The Cup. I think My Field Marshal is more of a $1.80 chance, I also think he is likely to get to that price. I'm also in the minority and think that if they do use Saying Grace up he can still actually run well. The market has trimmed up Rocknroll Lincoln now, I'm rapt to be on him and had something small on Vultin Tin as a real blow out. I certainly haven't gone hard though and it could simply be a case of MFM is the best horse and he wins. The thing I find odd is for someone like Adam Hamilton to not even give consideration to the chance that Saying Grace may be driven to "beat" the fav when he has 6 stable mates in the race that would benefit from that, come on Adam this is the wild west!

R6: Jaxon Fella is a fantastic 50/1 chance. Numbers don't match how he is racing. He will sit 1,1 on his stable mates back who will take him right into it, have something on punters! Bettor Be Abeliever is a nice horse but is massive unders. Like this for a First four too. 1,3,10/1,3,10/1,3,4,10,11/1,2,3,4,10,11. 100% costs $54.

R7: Going to have something very very small on Damondo and Im Batman, I think Batman is going to win a race very soon.

R8: Just very small this time, Righteous Brother. Wouldn't surprise me if he was still fighting after going 3 wide solo the last lap. Whozwhointhezoo looks like he will be backable as well.

R9: I think The Dojo is going to cross and is going to win, he's the other fill up.

R10: Leave me out.

Busselton: Not in the habit of backing back markers at Busselton but I'm super keen on Strogonoff, the $8 in the local shop will do me.

Bet up guys and girls.

A huge ten races at Northam. Old fashioned country night trotting at its best.

One bet : small shillings win investment, and a big few $ on a place special.
Saw this horse six starts ago at Pinjarra run a good fourth at 66/1 to Bettor Vision & Hasani.
Since then been having a good run of success with him, and have to continue with him tonight...his 5 runs since the excellent Pinjarra effort have been 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd.

Last Monday @$2.75 fixed odds a place he followed the pegs and ran a good third to the very smart Rockaball.
Hopefully Emily Suvaljko will give this horse every chance again and he's good enough at around $7 to at least run a place. No champion but he's honest.

Race 9 # 9. Soho Reaper.

Last one for the year, has a bit of a local flavour as a reminder that in the past, people in the country regions actually bred horses, good horses and plenty of them, from pretty undistinguished bloodlines. Sadly in the name of progress and rationalisation, and every other blasted term they can come up with as a euphemism for eroding the fabric (and probably the future) of a once very provincial base of the sport, such breeding events are almost certainly consigned to history.

This horse was very well performed, boasting a 43% win record from from just over 50 lifetime starts and was on the podium 74% of his total lifetime starts.....remarkable stats....... and he banked $250k along the way when money was money.

His sire was, well....ummm....hardly a household name, hailing from one of the weakest Most Happy Fella sire lines. Without being disrespectful, when an imported stallion has a 2 year record of just 2.12.0, you would have to have a very good reason to go there. Needless to say, this horse was easily the most successful offspring of his sire. On the dams side, well I think unremarkable would be appropriate, a smattering of low class winners for her Pemberton breeders across quite a few generations, hailing back to the prominent South West sire Nelson Direct, with an infusion of a sire I had never heard of before, Siruah.

But from the get go, this horse showed great ability, securing 2 year old Group 2 victories and many placings in the big races and in between injury enforced breaks, he raced on as a 3 year old to be runner up in a major group 1 feature, and he repeated that feat in a Group 1 4YO classic....and it took recognised champions to relegate him to 2nd. He claimed feature race and cup races at GP, including a high speed romp when he ran 1.55.4 to take his lifetime record and he traveled to the East Coast for a runner up in a major race. Good horse, well placed and trained, exciting to watch and probably his trainers best ever horse....a case of what might have been.

I am not a terribly Christmas type person but ho ho ho to all and lucky punting in 2019....and on the upside, we are extremely fortunate....we don't live in Syria or any of the other hellholes around the world where waking up in one piece with your family alongside you is considered both unlikely and a luxury, so let's keep it all in perspective.

Beaudiene Beach Babe & Baby Face Adda will take some stacking. Also a rough one for a place in that race - Soho Reaper inside back row draw, follow the pegs and home for a ticky.
