      <description><![CDATA[I've decided to try and create some value out of nothing races tonight. This will go brilliantly or I'll head home penniless.<div><br /></div><div>Race 1</div><div><br /></div><div>Your guess is as good as mine essentially. From the breeding side of things, 2 - OUR LIBERATOR is well-bred being out of G1 mare Libertybelle Midfrew and Mike Reed recently trialled her at Wanneroo, uncustomary of him. The quiet trial, finishing 4th of 4, could mean he was hiding her from the public eye but there's no early support for her. Hall Jnr on and drawn to lead if required. I was also a fan of 3 - EUPHORIC MOMENT's mother but this gelding has shown little to none at the trials and 4 - SPORTS CENTRAL ran a nice race on debut and is sure to be improved. His mother was a G1 winner also and there is early betting support for him.</div><div><br /></div><div>Race 2</div><div><br /></div><div>2 - NUCLEAR POKER won quite easily last start and will be able to find the front tonight, rendering it as the one to beat but the short quote has it well covered. However, if there is adequate pressure then 6 - HONEY AND LIME could be a decent each-way bet. Never a factor last start and faces a dive in class here from a race that I liked as a form reference.</div><div><br /></div><div>Race 3</div><div><br /></div><div>2 - ITS MY LUCKNOW will get a good run in transit here whether DEG decides to drop onto the leaders back or challenge for the front early. Her recent efforts have been solid and she looks a good each-way bet. 8 - GOTTA GO GABBANA did beat her by some 30m a month ago, but 2 - ITS MY LUCKNOW was working hard in a scorching 35.3 lead time and beat the others in that early duel home.</div><div><br /></div><div>Race 4</div><div><br /></div><div>5 - MY ART WORK deserves favouritism following a convincing win last start but there's not a lot to like about the price. Stablemate 10 - ZENNART was a very strong winner here a week ago but will again need racing luck from the draw.9 - FUN MAGIC TRIX blew the start by some 25m last week (as it tends to do every week) and ran home powerfully in a speedy last half. Punters keep throwing good money after bad but will be rewarded the day he finally puts it all together. It along with 2 - EL CARTEL could be playing for primarily place money but should not be ignored. 2 - EL CARTEL drops back in grade here and has not been disgraced in unsuitably run and significantly stronger races of late.</div><div><br /></div><div>Race 5</div><div><br /></div><div>6 - LUIS ALBERTO will have to earn it here but I have no doubt he is the better horse of he and 5 - BETTOR BE LIVELY. Whether its his night tonight I don't know. If the favourites flop spectacularly, 1 - ABETTA TINY DANCER will defy its odds and is better than the market suggests.</div><div><br /></div><div>Race 6</div><div><br /></div><div>Very even race. At the price I'm going to take 9 - TANAKA EAGLE. Is going better than numerical form suggests and if there is sufficient pace on he will be hard to hold out. Similarly, if the race isn't run to suit him 2 - JUS LIVINTHEDREAM, 5 - ANOTHER AYJAY and 7 - A BIT RUTHLESS can all figure, but at the odds you have to lean to 9 - TANAKA EAGLE.</div><div><br /></div><div>Race 7</div><div><br /></div><div>4 - SUNROS<span>E VILLAGE is knocking on the door for another win and is over the odds tonight. His recent efforts have been strong in better races and looks a decent each-way play in a race where the favourites are under the odds and are yet to fully prove themselves in my eyes.</span></div><div><span><br /></span></div><div><span>Race 8</span></div><div><span><br /></span></div><div><span>10 - SAMMY CHARLES looks a good tip in another even trot line-up. He's knocking on the door to win one and his effort first up was strong when working and fighting to the line for another 2nd placing. 7 - BALMORAL BOY led and had it on his own terms when beating 10 - SAMMY CHARLES by 3m last time and has never won from the stand.&nbsp; 9 - DIAMOND GEEZER was comprehensively beaten by both of them. Additionally, 8 - LIGHTNING CALDER had his chance to beat 9 - DIAMOND GEEZER two starts back and couldn't. It looks 10 - SAMMY CHARLES' race but he finds it hard to win and these trot races are hard to assess.</span></div>]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><span>Race 1</span><br /></p><p></p>
<p>1 – MIDNIGHT MAN looks to be hardest to beat and his<br />conspicuous quote reflects that. He is expected to lead and win on the back of<br />a strong success a week ago at Bunbury. There doesn’t look to be too much value<br />here.</p>
<p>Race 2</p>
<p>1 – ROMAN REIGN has good gate speed and gets his chance to<br />lead and return to the winners circle here. Forgive his last start where he<br />breezed in slick time behind Cott Beach and his effort before that was<br />encouraging behind stablemate Magical Mitch when a clear second at Busselton. </p>
<p>Race 3</p>
<p>8 – TELLA could be the best each way value in a race where<br />tactics could tell all. Expecting 4 – HIDEOUT to have more speed than a drug kingpin<br />and find the front with 3 – RIVERDALE JOKER to keep him nice and honest in the<br />lead. That could leave 6 – BORN A TIGER to lead up the three-wide division and<br />8 – TELLA to catch his cover and finish faster than I do all over the top. </p>
<p>Race 4</p>
<p>Another tricky race but I was taken by the courage shown by<br />6 – ESTOCADA last start and I like the I’m Zuleika form line. Has opened<br />skinnier than I expected and we do have to rely on it stepping well but it<br />generally does. Happy to be with it. </p>
<p>Race 5</p>
<p>I think there’s a chance 6 – I’M ZULEIKA if TC elects to<br />light the wick at the start. If it were to cross and lead the whole perceived<br />dimensions of the race would change. If not I’m still happy to back it each-way.<br />Also willing to forgive 8 – ATHABASCAN for his last run because his run prior<br />was simply outstanding, but this is his last chance. Will probably win if he<br />produces his best.</p>
<p>Race 6</p>
<p>I’ve just noticed that Matthew Scott has only got two<br />runners for the meeting and they’re engaged in this race, so tread carefully<br />there. Leaning to 9 – BAUMGARTNER here though because of his tough effort in<br />the breeze after breaking last time. Chances are he’ll have to replicate that<br />effort but he is capable of doing it, plus he’ll be fitter here. Also give a<br />chance to 6 – SKEWSY NEWSY, I was impressed by her last start effort at GP when<br />she was inconvenienced throughout and came wide without cover. She’s over the<br />odds despite the draw.</p>
<p>Race 7</p>
<p>1 – ART TUTOR will be looking for an all the way win here.<br />Butterworth will be hell-bent on keeping Young in a pocket on the second<br />favourite and his form in metropolitan grade bodes well for this assignment.<br /><br /><br /><br /></p>]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><span>Race 1</span></p><p><span>In the first we see the return of 8 –GOLDEN STATE and 10 –<br />HIGHROLLER JOE, both last seen competing at the highest level when finishing<br />down the track in the Golden Slipper as 2yos. Considering natural progression<br />these two should prove hardest to hold out, but of those with recent exposed<br />form 9 – ROMAN AVIATOR could be the best of them. His last effort at Northam<br />when going down narrowly was full of valour and he is a nice each way price.</span></p><p></p>
<p>Race 2</p>
<p>8 – MISS STONEBRIDGE looks set to secure a soft trip on the<br />pegs and can utilise her burst late along the sprint lane if necessary. She<br />never got into the race last start and her effort when placing behind since<br />metropolitan winner Red Hot Roxy was encouraging. Aging mare 4 – RACY LACY is<br />racing with youthful zest of late and it would be no surprise to see her figure<br />prominently at the business end. She was left with little luck last time and<br />hit the line well.</p>
<p>Race 3</p>
<p>8 – JIMMY RECARD is another who looks set to enjoy the<br />perfect trail on the pegs behind the leader throughout. He has proven to be a<br />talented horse with a nice turn of foot, which could potentially run over the<br />top of the favourite 1 – AQUEENSOMEWHERE, who has terrific gate speed and loves<br />to lead but was left vulnerable late last time. 9 – MY GIRL WYLENE should be<br />considered as a place chance with the likelihood that she’ll settle three back<br />the pegs throughout and follow them through into third place.</p>
<p>Race 4</p>
<p>6 – HOT FRATERNITY has dazzling gate speed and he will be<br />looking to surge across and find the front here. Should he find the front and<br />get away with a cheap lead he would be unbeatable tonight. When has led of late<br />he has had to absorb superfluous pressure which has ruined his final burst in<br />the straight. Last start he was interfered with by tiring runners and forced<br />wide but still hit the line with growing tenacity when beaten an ever-narrowing<br />2.5m.</p>
<p>Race 5</p>
<p>In recent weeks 3 – OUR BOBBYDAZZLER has established himself<br />as a country standing start yardstick with some courageous performances. His<br />victory last time when working and sprinting when seriously challenged was<br />resolute and he deserves top billing, particularly with the handicap advantage<br />over the more classy of his adversaries. </p>
<p>Race 6</p>
<p>The evergreen 8 – LORD LOMBO has been racing with<br />commendable exuberance of late in metropolitan events. The only time he dropped<br />to provincial grade he was successful on a Tuesday at headquarters. Last start<br />he finished strongly down the outside in a race of very fast closing sectionals<br />and should be considered hard to beat from his good trailing draw.</p>
<p>Race 7</p>
<p>5 – MIDDLE OF THE ROAD was allowed to dictate and scored<br />most convincingly last time out when allowed to lead. There’s a chance he will<br />be allowed to roll to the front and if he were to secure a similar run in front<br />he would be winning. If he doesn’t lead one would assume he’d find a good<br />position regardless and be a good each way chance. At odds 9 – SAMMY’S IDEAL<br />should be considered as he finds a suitable race here.</p>
<p>Race 8</p>
<p>4 – ROCKNROLL RHYLEE was driven awfully quietly when kept<br />safe on debut and ran a nice race, sneaking places late on. If driven more competitively<br />here this race appears very winnable. Any market support would be additionally<br />encouraging.</p>]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[<div><span><span>Harness – Stewards Inquiry – Race 1 Gloucester Park 2 December 2016 – FIFTH EDITION NZ</span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span>The Racing Penalties Appeal Tribunal (RPAT) today delivered its reasons in the appeal by Mr Greg Bond against the convictions and penalties of six months disqualification and twelve months disqualification to be served concurrently for breaches of Rules 209 and 243 respectively of the RWWA Rules of Harness Racing imposed by the Stewards on 2 August 2017.</span></span></div><div><span><span>The hearing of this matter was on 7 September 2017, following which Mr Bond was granted a stay of proceedings pending determination of the matter.</span></span></div><div><span><span>In its published determination issued today the Tribunal unanimously determined;</span></span></div><div><span><span> To uphold the appeal against conviction with respect to the offence under Rule 209 relating to providing false evidence to the Stewards</span></span></div><div><span><span> To dismiss the appeal against conviction with respect to the offence under Rule 243 relating to behaviour that was prejudicial to the industry.</span></span></div><div><span><span>The Tribunal further upheld the appeal against penalty with respect to the 12-months disqualification issued for the breach of Rule 243 finding, in part, that “Although I consider the Stewards were right to find Mr Bond guilty of conduct which was prejudicial to the industry, the penalty imposed in all of the circumstances was manifestly excessive.”</span></span></div><div><span><span>Accordingly a fine of $25,000 was determined to be the appropriate penalty which given Mr Bond had already served approximately 1 month of the disqualification imposed by the Stewards prior to being granted a stay of proceedings, the penalty was reduced to a fine of $18,000.</span></span></div><div><span><span>The full reasons of the Tribunal are available at <a href="http://www.rpat.wa.gov.au/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.rpat.wa.gov.au/</a></span></span></div><div><span><span>Media Contact: Denis Borovica – General Manager Racing Integrity</span></span></div><div><span><span>Ph: 9445 5427 denis.borovica@rwwa.com.au</span></span></div>]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[Cups everywhere this weekend...Hunter Cup at beautiful Melton.....yeah...a few promising types going around.....Lord Mayors Cup at GP, a couple of triers....Northam Cup&nbsp; a very competitive lot.....Albany Cup...might need the mudguards but it's attracted a good field but....but....the Williams Cup on Sunday, 9 races, all the big guns Turvey, DeCampo, Voak.....and can the Cups King Hillbilly Time and Trent "Free" Wheeler make it 5&nbsp; on end. Always a good day at Williams, will be clocking up the km's this weekend. Sorry Albany, a bloke can't be everywhere.<br />]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[<div><span><span>Harness – Stewards Inquiry – Trainer Mr Gary Elson – ARTURUS NZ &amp; SCOOBYS DELIGHT</span></span></div><div><span><span>RWWA Stewards have been advised by the ChemCentre in Perth, that cobalt at a concentration in excess of 100 micrograms per litre, being the threshold prescribed in the Harness Rules of Racing, has been detected in a urine sample taken from SCOOBYS DELIGHT at Gloucester Park on 4 August 2017 prior to it competing and winning in Race 3.</span></span></div><div><span><span>This followed a previous report that cobalt at a concentration in excess of 100 micrograms per litre, had been detected in a urine sample taken from ARTURUS NZ at Gloucester Park on 3 November 2017 prior to it competing and finishing fourth in Race 9.</span></span></div><div><span><span>Both findings have now been verified by the Racing Analytical Services Laboratory (RASL) in Victoria.</span></span></div><div><span><span>A Stewards inquiry into this matter, which was to be conducted on 4 January was adjourned the day prior at the request of Mr Elson in order for him to obtain further materials and consult with his legal advisors.       <description><![CDATA[South Australia is proving a good hunting ground for several WA horses who have found it tough going in Perth but relishing some easier races in Adelaide and winning at remarkable odds..recently Sonic Classic won at $35.90 and just the other night Braeview Bomber at $37.90.<br /><br />Combine those dividends with huge price winners in former WA pacers, John Of Arc and Our Jericho in Victoria, it's been a bonanza for any punters following there progress. Even the very much battling Firebomb was recently placed at $47.30. <br /><br />Can recall many years ago putting a few dollars aside for a horse from Perth that went to Adelaide, not sure if anyone remembers him, but his name was The Dalmation...for once was patient and had a reasonable collect at the time. If you keep an eye on some of the locals that move over east appearing in weakish fields and claimers...can pay to put a $ aside for them.  ]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[We've had some opinions on the best WA harness horses since the 70s 80s now for the best 12 drivers to go with them. <br /><br />1. Chris Lewis - he's gone through the mid seventies and come out in 2018 still in front! He's not quite the dashing driver he once was...but he's number one by a mile on all attributes. <br />2. Fred Kersley - had a bit of luck with the chookster - a marvel in the big races. <br />3. Phil Coulson - cool as a cucumber - rated them to perfection. <br />4. Tricky Trevor Warwick - when the bucks were on - drove like a man possessed! <br />5. Lindsay Harper - a marvel at getting them away from the stand. When in front almost unbeatable. Was even as good as Lewis for a while. <br />6. Shannon Suvaljko - how does he always find a good position early ? There's an art to that. His record is impressive. <br />7. Mike Reed ( father of Mark and Stephen ) very underrated. Deservedly represented WA in an Australian Drivers Championship. Clever - like Suvaljko. <br />8. Bill Kersley - brother of Fred make no mistake this bloke could drive. <br />9. Peter Schrader - son of a gun - he was a natural. <br />10. Gary Hall Jnr. - what's the opposite of a son of a gun?! His father was a shocker haha . Makes Jnr even more remarkable. <br />11. Lyle Lindau - was on a horse he drove one night Paura Del Mar'e about 1985...thanks Lyle! Got me out of it...for a week. Great driver. <br />12. Longshot Les Poyser - a night at the trots was always good when Longshot Les brought one home - and you were on. <br /><br />It's more 80s onwards so have reluctantly omitted 70s dominance and some 80s of blokes like Jimmy the Jet Schrader, The Riffleman - Les Marriott , Bob Pollock , Alan Woodworth, Kevin Batt etc. etc. ]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[Ran into the original owner of this horse a couple of weeks ago....hail and hearty at 91 years young....and he was of course at the trots as always...great old fella.<br />The horse in question has very interesting breeding....sire was bred by an old farmer from the wheatbelt and had a very decent race record and although not super successful as a sire, this horse was easily his best son harking back to an old but very successful colonial line. The horses dam was no good at all, 10 starts for 0,0,0......and as a broodmare, not much better with just 2 foals, the other one never raced. It&nbsp; did have some decent blood and her locally bred broodmare sire was a fast class performer. But overall, this fine horse scored a bit of hybrid vigour.<br />Started off as a 2yo winning its 2nd start provincially and racked up 3 more wins before nailing a Group 2 2yo Classic and was then 2nd in the 2yo Sires Stakes Race, nominally a group 1.<br />Coming back as a 3 year old, he scored both Metro and Country wins before victory in the then pre-eminent provincial 3 year old race and a Group 1 3 year old Classic boosting his stakemoney to a very healthy level. Adept at both stand and mobile, he returned as a 4 year old and ran through the classes before claiming a Group 1 4yo Classic amongst other metro wins and placings. The money kept rolling in as an early 5yo but injury intervened and he was off the scene for almost 2 years. After both a change of ownership and trainer, he returned as a 7 year old for 2 winning starts before the curtain came down. Only 50 odd starts for 19 wins and close to 200k in prizemoney. Stood at stud but was almost ignored with only 14 live foals, 5 reasonable winners, one of whom's image adorns advertising banners at the winning post of a leading provincial circuit. Extra points if you can name the advertising horse in question.<br />]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[Was thinking about this horse the other week and wrote his name down with a thought to researching his record. Wasn't top flight I thought but was always thereabouts.....and what a story he turned out to be....how the memory forgets all this stuff.<br />Started off life in NZ with little success as a 2 year old but went on to race successfully Australia wide until he was 9 years old, contesting an Interdominion, a couple of Pacing Cups and a lot of other major races in WA, Tasmania, Victoria and Queensland, over 150 starts, 20 plus wins and 36 placings and a cool quarter of a million dollars in the late 80's through to the mid 90's, in spite of running into superstars wherever he went. He also had a remarkable16 different drivers across his career.<br />As a 2yo in NZ, his 8 starts produced just 2 placings in very minor races before winning at start 11 as a 3 year old after his trainer put on a top flight NZ driver. He started to build a bit of momentum with a few 3 year old wins in moderate company, definite improvement but not top flight. Was entered in the NZ 3 year Old Championships and both Derbys, and in spite of running into a 3 year old super star at the top of his game, he ran&nbsp; 2 very good seconds in those 3 races, picking up excellent prizemoney in the process and announcing himself as a pretty good horse, in spite of no major victories. He followed up with 3 good metro wins but over the next season or two, he lost form and as a 6 year old, he was purchased and exported to Perth for a prominent owner with a record of 57 starts for 8 wins and 16 placings (8 seconds).<br />After a spell he won first up at a provincial and then picked up an off season Cup and was placed in the Brennan. He headed towards the Pacing Cup in decent form, ran a 2nd in a prelude and qualified for the final but finished down the track in a Cup that resembled World War 3. He raced on collecting 2 more metro wins and then headed East contesting features everywhere, including the Interdominion where he failed to qualify. Back to WA and a spell and he resumed in good form with a placing in a major Country Cup and a FFA win before contesting another Pacing Cup where he again ran down the track after qualifying for the final. Was placed in a major Sprint and kept collecting both city and regional wins before a late age change of ownership. Didn't bother him as he collected 2 more GP fast class wins and a number of placings as a 9 year old before his form tapered and he rode off into the sunset. If he hadn't run into Westburn Grant, Jack Morris, Hilarion Star and numerous other top flight opposition, he may well have not flown under the radar.<br /><br /><br />]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[R1: Thought the winner would come from the 2,3, or 4. Cimorene isn't quick out so Miss Sangrial looks to get her chance to lead throughout. She's going to be short and its a matter of whether you trust her or not. Our Major Mama is likely to have a little shot for the lead and is some chance to get it, wins if it does. Otherwise she is a chance to get a bit of cover from the stable mate Beaudiene Beach Babe. Captured Delight was beaten on her merits first up, she is a lot better than that, will be sitting close enough to finish it off and at the price is probably worth an EW play. De La Tourbie can run into 3/4 off the soft pegs run.<br />Bet: FF:2,3,4/1,2,3,4/1,2,3,4,6/1,2,3,4,6,10. 100% costs $81. EQ:2,3,4.<br /><br />R2: I've been massively disappointed by Messi lately so I will take him on here. At his best he would cross these and win but he hasn't been showing that speed. I think Glenferrie Rustler will hold him, he needs to find a lot on his last run but he was second up off a long break after showing a bit first up. I thought this was a back line race. Real Lucky has been showing some very good zip. He is likely to be 3 back the fence with a horse like Loaded Aussie outside him which means he should be able to get going when he needs to. Kerrin Joseph has started to rediscover the form he was showing this time last year, Lewis will no doubt go at the right time. Mighty Flying Deal can follow him and be a player as well. <br />Bet: EW 10 Real Lucky. FF:10,11/3,10,11,12/3,10,11,12/1,3,4,8,9,10,11,12. 100% costs $60. QD:3,10,11,12.<br /><br />R3: Maczaffair should be winning. Running along in front I give Ayana a flukers chance of beating her or if something goes completely wrong Im Zuleika is racing well for her ability.<br />EQ: 2,3 10% spend combined, 9 90% spend.<br /><br />R4: I expect Mysta Magical Mach to have a decent crack for the lead. American Boy can follow him across and take up a spot in the moving line really close to the speed, I'm happy to be on him. I really don't think Delightful Offer is a good horse for A Piccadilly Princess to be following, she is going to need some luck but if gets it will sprint hard. Our Jimmy Johnstone is the one who finds himself in a more winnable race than he has been in and he is likely to get a hot speed early to help him. <br />Bet: 4 American Boy win. FF:4,8/4,8,10/4,6,8,10/4,5,6,8,9,10,11. 100% costs $32. EQ:4,8,10<br /><br />R5: Bettors Fire the early leader. Love Ultimate Machete talent wise but he looks to get crossed by Vultin Tin who will then be crossed by Chicago Bull so it really starts to shuffle him back. I don't think Soho rolls the dice at the start, he just isn't quick enough off the arm to think he can get across all the previously mentioned horses without it being suicidal. For me the big question is does Chicago Bull push up when Lazarus comes and would Bettors Fire hand up to the Bull? Not going to pretend to know the answer. I expect Devendra to run very well off the soft pegs run and if they do go fast which they look like they could My Hard Copy looks back to his best and driven dead he will rocket. It should be a good race.<br />Bet:FF:5/1,2,4,10/1,2,4,6,10/1,2,4,6,9,10. 100% costs $64. QD:5 80%, 6,10 20% total spend.<br /><br />R6: Springsteen likely to cross Bronze Seeker setting them both up to be in the finish. I've been liking how El Machine has been going for a while now, I thought the Voak train might push forward at the start and finish up with the 1,1 on Ohoka Darcy's back. He can win it from there. Didn't think this was the right race for Major Catastrophe and it will be tough for Livura as it is similar to last week where he will have to go around them while the horses under him get the break on him.<br />Bet:Tri:1,2,5/1,2,5,6/1,2,3,5,6,10,11. 100% costs $45. QD:1,2,5,6.<br /><br />R7: This is a tough race. Mighty Flying Thomas ran on well first up. He probably has the speed to hold up but is likely to cop a solid challenge from Web Ellis and Extreme Prince. Looks a good race for Red Salute to run on in if they do go hard. The other i'm interested in is A Boy Named Rosie. He has been racing very well for a while. If it isn't run to suit he is no chance from out there but if they do go hard he can finish over them at big odds.<br />Bet: Exacta 1,5,9/1,4,5,9.<br />  100% costs $9. EW No9 A Boy Named Rossie. QD:1,5,9.<br /><br />R8: I thought whoever out of Im Rockaria, Idealindiamonds, Assassinator and even Importer Exporter got to Another Ayjay first would find the top and win.<br />QD:6,7,8,9.<br /><br />R9: Dreadlock Rockstar looks the leader and the winner but the price won't be good enough. Maybe Ima Rocknroll Legend can zap him if he can get close enough with 300m to go without actually having had to do anything in the run. I expect A Bit Ruthless to follow the speed well.<br />Bet: Tri:2/1,9/1,9.<br /><br />R10: I'm a bit of a wrap for Makinchanges after he was very good to me last week. Champion horse just 13 years old, won 20 of 21 starts, went a world record 1.46.4 at just 3 years old, lost just once to Art Official, won $3.3 million, sired the winners of $84.6 million. Massive loss to the breeding industry....bought for just $40k by a low profile trainer in Canada and easily the leading siring son of Mach Three with perfect gait and wonderful temperament. The original 6 owners maintained majority ownership in spite of his syndication to Hanover Shoes Farm, where he will be buried..<br />]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[One for old breeding buffs. Back in the late 60's and 70's, conventional wisdom had it that if you could find a stout old staying colonial broodmare line, the infusion of a bit of Adios blood could "brighten up" the genetics and improve your chances of breeding a good one. So, in an inspired decision, a prominent, and into the future,&nbsp; major breeder did just that. A recently imported stallion with a 3x3 cross of Adios blood was put to an old colonial mare from one of the North Eastern districts oldest breeders. The mare was a fair race horse herself but speed was missing. Full of old blood from the likes of Kolector, Forest Dixie, Alfred Donald and Scotch Dillon, the family was pretty stout, and in fact, there was a potential champion produced from the breeding line who suffered an early demise after showing some stunning potential as a young horse up on the North Eastern Circuit, including a win in the NE Derby. The cross was no fluke with the mare producing several decent horses but one colt was a standout who piled up the wins from his 3 year old days right through to success as a 9 year old, displaying all the toughness of his dams colonial roots. Showing moderate form as an early 3 year old with his first win coming at at Harvey, he stepped into the limelight with a 3rd in a major 3 year old race behind a future champion, and then progressed to a win in a $20k Group 3 classic. His first try in Group 1 company had him placed 3rd again, a pattern that was to be repeated in his 4 year old days with the aforementioned "future champion" continuing to be his nemesis. As a 5 year old, he continued to work his way through the classes with FFA and listed wins, progressing to an M4 assessment prior to taking on the "big boys" in the major open class group1's, winning a heat with John Graham on board but a 4th placing in a final was his best result.<br />As an aged horse, his metro assessment continued to tighten with further FFA and listed wins, finally tasting group 1 success as a 7 year old and continuing on to claim a listed Country Cup success as a 9 year old. 28 wins, that many and more placings, north of $250k in the bank, he was retired to stud where he threw a few winners from as they say "limited opportunities" (read as "no one thought he would be any good"), including one very decent horse. Don't reckon he gets the recognition he deserved but if you know who he is, you'll think Yep, a very decent horse. More than enough info here to claim your free Busso hotdog on Friday Night. Maybe, if things go right, a pink icing sticky bun for desert.<br /><br />]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[Love the story behind this horse, who most definitely flew well under many radars. Many would have given up on him....many times over.....absolutely no breeding in his pedigree, an unfashionable sire to the point of why would you bother, a winless unraced dam who threw 5 foals, 4 of them hopeless, a winless unraced grand dam who threw 5 foals for one pretty ordinary winner, a winless unraced great grand dam who had 7 foals for 2 that raced and $0 dollars in earnings. The best part of his pedigree was his dams sire who was a pretty strong horse from the South West, albeit a bit unreliable and certainly not a fashionable or commercial sire.<br />He started racing as a 4 year old, winless, raced as a 5 year old, winless, it took him 18 starts to finally win his first race as a 6 year old and another 12 starts and 7 years old before he won his 2nd race.<br />And yet he raced on...... and on....... and on....... finally retiring as a 13 year old, having qualified for an Interdominion Final (after placing in all 3 qualifying heats as a 9 year old) and amassing well over a quarter of a million dollars in stake money, most of it in his what we shall euphemistically call his latter years.He never got near earning any money in the 3 and 4 year old classics and he couldn't claim any major cup wins, no Stratton, Easter, Brennan, August, Winter, BOTRA, Fremantle or Pacing Cup wins....and he was placed in very few of those races but as an 11 year old, he did run 4th in a Pacing Cup Final and as a 10 year old, he did string together 5 Free For All wins and won his singular major fast class race at the same age. A remarkable old horse that was a classic "put food on the table horse" who was, as they say, a late maturer from humble beginnings.<br />]]></description>
