Investing on a few rough place chances and a couple of eachway bets.

Race 1. Very small and Place only - # 3. Tajie Baby & # 10. Gunna Get Lucky. They should get soft runs from the draws...they will need to!

Race 4. Eachway - # 5. Sea Cider. Her run on Tuesday after tramping wide early before breezing was a good run. She toughed it out well. Also eachway # 6. Mattjestic Star was a great run when third three starts ago at $115.60 possibly a flash in the pan effort and next two attempts just reasonable but this looks a more suitable race. There both between 14/1 and 20/1 - only hopeful. But you never know.

Race 5. Place - # 10. Dredlock Rockstar not much luck lately and needs a little to run a drum..hope he gets it!

Race 6. Place only - # 10. American Boy & # 11. Condrieu. Backline draws and possible peg runs.. both big prices...skinny end of the prize hopefully.

Race 7. Eachway 2 x 6 basis - # 3. Cut For An Ace going well this guy the second two starts ago was outstanding. Last week good too. Tricky race though. Just seven starters and six wining chances.

Race 9. Eachway 3 x 7 basis - # 1. Rudimental Sol got the draw! Saw him at Pinjarra one day - thundered home to win at 66/1. Not a lot since! Barrier one unders price haha but maybe this 'one' can get the job done for me.

Twentynine Twelve raced last start looks the goods...flew out of the mobile from the four gate at a big price before handing up to the smart Herrick Roosevelt....did have the ideal slipstream run but held second to the line comfortably and beat home second favourite ( Kid Collosus ) who was three back the pegs easily.

Comes into gate five with the scratching and on last effort Stu McDonald will probably look to fire out again. No fun in odds on pops and the windy day is perhaps a bit of concern ( for leaders ? ) but hopefully horse and driver can get the job done.

Good meeting coming up at Kellerberin.

Race 5 is interesting.. a race for the quintessential battlers..an indication My Names Bob has opened favourite at $2.80 :-O the trainer and driver are in tip top form but think even they may have the job ahead of them to get this bloke over the line in first place. One of the tougher races of 2017. Anything could win. Not writing off Bob but will pass on backing him as favourite.

Now there is a horse in the race have seen often..this seven year old mare really struggles...a bit of a guide..45 starts for just one win and one placing..previous five starts has jumped on tote at $189.70 , $113.50 , $155.20 , $131.40 and $97.40...her name Mill Pond..ya gotta feel for her...however!! the run at Pinjarra two starts ago when fifth behind Honey and Lime in a much better field was a very good effort...did some work in the run too. Was odds on to drop right out but actually stuck on. Today drawn the seven ( inside of the backline ) stunned am saying this but on the effort at Pinjarra am going to have a few coins on eachway. That will be twice have backed her - first and last time. Miracles do happen.

To recoup that loss...think the all up win of ex Kiwi horses Robert The Bruce and Neighlor can get over the line. If they get up might get around anywhere from $2.20 to $2.80 on the multi. Not much luck lately for Robert The Bruce, will run short enough, but looks a bit too classy for them..hopefully Neighlor can make it two in a row with another pillar to post victory.

Six event card at GP...just one eachway bet and a couple of Quaddie donations for me.

Race 2 # 6. Mon Lamour...the eight year old mare hasn't been in the placings for awhile let alone the winners circle but caught the eye last couple of runs ..a running on 4th at Pinjarra when 33/1 to the kiwi Walkinshaw , then not a bad effort when making up ground to finish fifth at @150/1 behind up and coming Herrick Roosevelt. Both times beaten a fair way , but a bit held up for a run as well.

She's no world beater and from barrier six will need everything to go smoothly...but in her favour is there's no Walkinshaws or Herrick Roosevelts in this field. Only hopeful but will give her a go on a 3 x 7 basis.

Then a crack at the elusive Quaddie.

Race 3. - A shocker taking the field ( nine of them ) at least will still be in it...

Race 4. # 7. Intrepidation.

Race 6 # 2. Herrick Roosevelt.

Race 7 # 9. Blue Sky Commander.

$3 = 300%.

Race 4...in a field of six they come out of gates five and six but both have class and look certain to run 1,2 or at worst 1,3. Reticent to go against Carter Bromac , but Eden Franco won with so much authority last week that he maybe a little too good. May boil down to the best tactics of C. Brown V N. Turvey.

Race 6...# 2. Herrick Roosevelt by far and away looks the goods. Novelties the way to go here with Herrick to lead all the way and #1. Ain't Royal and # 8. Don't Wannadie receiving the perfect trails , not totally convinced with either of them but if Herrick leads it should give them the gun peg runs , a massive help to their cause.

The spanner in the works though is # 4. Attack On Command such a brilliant begginer that he may look to head the fave off early and then immediately hand up to him. Thereby pushing Royal and Don't Wannadie three back and four back the pegs.

The 50/1 bolters that give some chance of running into third or fourth are # 5. Cerato # 9. Tajie Baby #11. Arturus and #12. Sir Nicholas. They might help lift the dividend if one or two of them could snare the skinny end of ticket.

Good luck all punters having a punt at Pinjarra.

We’d have three or four horses
from each stable in the same race.

“Two or three of those horses
in the race would be of a significant ability to be able to potentially
win the race, with the rest of them generally there to quite literally
make up the numbers.

“In this context, your Honour, tactics become very important in harness racing.

“Different
horses race better from the front, getting an early lead, or some
prefer to take a sit, is the term, I understand, and try to out sprint
the leaders to the finish line.

“Tactics change, therefore, from
race to race, depending on which horses are against which, and are often
dictated by the trainer prior to the race.”

Mr Hanlon said it was not within the rules to employ such tactics, but the practise was widespread.

However, he said drivers would sometimes renege on the agreements made once the race was underway.

“I
understand, your Honour, it is commonplace, albeit, not technically
within the racing rules, for drivers to talk to each other prior to the
race, and try and establish the tactics that each driver is going to be
employing,” he said.

“Of course, there is no guarantee that
drivers will be honest with each other, in this regard, and that’s
clear, your Honour, from the schedule of facts before the court in
relation to charges one and three where the tactics noted or potentially
to be employed, weren’t in fact, and the result therefore, didn’t pan
out as had been intended.

“In my submission, your Honour, it seems
there is a fine line between what is deemed an acceptable level of
gamesmanship and what is clearly a breach of the rules and the relevant
offence of match fixing.

“It’s accepted clearly, however, by my
client’s pleas of guilty today that his conduct has crossed that line,
and as I say, he is remorseful for his involvement in the offences.”.

The advantage for the locals is they are already here. How many invaders arrive or stay at home may decide their fate.

The first local to look at and possibly do a 'Lovers Delight' is...Americanbootscoota...the second behind Chicago Bull was full of merit. Terrific gate speed to work his way to the front , then absorb strong pressure from Runoneover and to only surrender over the closing stages to The Bull was a fantastic effort. Finishing ahead of Hall Snr. stablemates My Hard Copy and Beudiene Boaz ( easy soft peg runs ) was a tough performance. Now at $81 to $101 could be a chance to make the final and from a good draw who knows ?

The driver of Lovers Delight in 2015 - Chris Lewis . Very colonially bred horse and one of the last of great sire Jack Oro's foals. Race callers often called him Baldivis, after the suburb, not sure whether Baldavis was a misprint or error.

Reminds me of the resilience required to succeed.....it's not for the faint hearted this training caper.

Sometimes things in life aren't consistent...especially if following certain horses, stables and drivers too. Through no fault things can go wrong ( and often do ). It's not easy to do something good consistently whether winning on the punt or exercising every day!

Had a glance at four horses that were running at Gloucester Park last night and their form.

1.
They use to be competive events full fields of twelve and run at up tempo...then for quite a while they restricted the field size to just nine and all across the front line...very ordinary races many were...turnover crashing down , horses missing a start etc then after the drums were beat loud enough the field size for the 1730 metres was returned to twelve and normality returned.

However now the capacity field size for 1730 metres has been reduced to just ten. Nine across the front and one off the backline. BOTRA has discussed these 1730 races at there meetings. Rightly so too. To me - run twelve or alternatively don't run them at all.

Whilst on field size - the biggest event Australasia wide for betting and prestige is the Interdominion Final. It's our Melbourne Cup. We run 12 horse fields at Gloucester Park every week , the main races are always a 12 horse field.

Whoever came up with the idea for the previous two Perth Interdominions of restricting the field size to just ten and leave two handy horses out , which in turn affects turnover and reduces the intrigue of the race , was a very ordinary decision. This year run 12 and not 10.

Guarantee they don't!

Very keen on the favourite Donegal Rundlescreek a good effort last start. Also same race having something on Foxy Dame not much luck lately and has the Reed/Suvaljko factor.

Race 3. Can't believe am saying this ( it is a weak field ) from barrier nine and odds on...yes Whozideawasthis with just average luck will win. Mick Grantham and I'm Master Charlie drawn next door the only danger.

Race 4. # 5. Mighty Mr. Sharkey a model of consistency...dare say it...will lead...will win! Braeview Bomber the interesting runner and the place value horse #11. Change Of Address.

Race 8. Deadset two horse race # 3. Livura and # 10. Bettor Not Bitter....barrier draw says Livura but don't write off Bettor Not Bitter. Those two with just average luck will run 1,2 or at the very worst 1,3.

Race 9. The early market has Therugo $1.30 in from $1.35.....biggest certainty seen on a trotting track since they invented the wheel.
