How embarrassing the stewards accepted this explanation

RACE 6: ST
IHL PTY LTD HANDICAP
-
1000M
MISS BUX (Chris Parnham)
Lay outwards and consequently raced wide throughout and
compounded in the straight.
A
post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Trainer Mr G. Williams was advised that it was now his intention to add blinkers to the mare’s
gear and race it over an increased distance at its next start.

It was losing ground, hung out bad from the 700m. It suffered career ending lacerations to it's near hind, which clearly is still affecting the mare as she laid out and couldn't get around the corner.

Her first 2 runs were over 1200 in which she won impressively enough, backed off the map each time. It runs LAST in a midweek after never going straight, and they accept this explanation? Surely a horse of her quality should be made to trial again under more raceday like pressure.

Surely it should just be retired like it originally was.

Agreed an uninformed punter would have thought she was a good bet today...

Horse is not right. Massive drift on course suggested same.

Even more reason to send it back to trials Diva instead of accepting no blinker and needs more ground!

Or better yet retire it...would be a super valuable broodmare if you look at the progeny from Fluffy Duck

Williams and Parnham can't be blamed for the performance mate, it was previously trained by Simon Miller and yes there's every likelihood it hasn't recovered properly either physically or mentally from the shocking injuries it suffered. Its trials clearly indicated that at best they would be more hopeful than confident.

I'm agreeing motivated. Trials indicated she was nowhere near right.

Was she a good track worker at Simons Motivated ??? May find her essence again with the blinkers ???

    cheers

Yeah agree, not blaming the Williams connections as such, but more so the stewards for accepting the explanation, but agree with above post, was no money at all for her. Just sad to see such a high class filly that again we will never see the best of!

Looked very big in the yard looked to me she would need more racing rather than trials

She had 3 trials, surely fitness wouldnt be the reason she got beat a furlong and hung off the track.

Just saying she looked well above her self in the yard hence she got the blows big drifter late

Also gear issues could be the problem but agree she went awful an retirement may be the option

Surely it would have been pretty easy for the concourse vet to check if she was lame after the race?

With Grant Williams experience with horses... for the wellbeing of the animal, you would think you just wouldnt send it around if the trial was that horrible and its track work must reflect that...In the same race, Your Buy's trial was ordinary at best even though it won it. Wouldnt have a clue where the money came for that especially a maiden in a 0-72! I thought the maiden Razy Rose was the run of that trial.

I can only guess in saying that Your Buy must have had some injury issues since its debut campaign late last year. Because in the horses debut campaign it was running in Saturday company (albeit against the same age group), and it ran 2nd to Miss Solis, 2nd to Detection and 2nd to Wombies Legacy on two occasions. But it was always going to be risky in backing the horse first up when you consider it was only having it's 2nd race start since then, and it didn't produce when it raced first up back in May either. I hope for the sake of Stephen Rowe and the owners, that the horse can turn its form around.

I noticed that too. I think they need to do a better job on her diet though. Looks like they're overfeeding here. image

Again went awful compared to previous form...gone before straightening again...no stewards report or follow up....looked short in the mounting yard in my opinion....should be retired...

Went a bit better like I said above she was very fat in the yard first up

Couple more runs she what she's got left she looked to me like a horse that needs racing way above in condition

A lot of the time it's the mental side of things that prevent a horse coming back from injury

I had a very little bit on her Saturday - a blind bet. Tried to get a look at her on TV, to no avail. Would like to get a look at her in the yard

If she is just underdone then after a couple more runs we may see the best of her again - she seemed to ping and run along ok and then just die in the a.r.s.e. Did not appear to be restricted in her movement - it looked like she just ran out of condition :-??
  • TheFunksterTheFunkster    3,840 posts
One of mine had a similar injury. Tried to get him back twice after 3 ops. He would be fine at 90-95% effort but would be restricted when putting in max effort in the straight. He was fine in the mounting yard when returning, but after a hose down you could see he was slightly lame.
There seems to be some similarities here

Punting Tragic, dare say she could be 75% fit and beat most of the field she has faced so far this prep.

If it was fitness she would get to the 200m and then hit the wall, both times she has been gone well before to turn. And the hanging out 1st up is a dead set give away.

Possibly maybe she is bigger in condition because she is too unsound to gallop much? She had 3 trials....I cannot accept that fitness is the reason.

Takes a bit to get em fit mate she's a gross mare I watched her in the run her condition gave out but better least she went straight

Barring injury 2 more starts for her sing hurt expect sharp improvement third up

Three trials and two starts and she's still unfit? That's a gee up surely?
