Are they going to be selling Ascot and having Lark Hill and Pinjarra as race places 2 and 3?

Beats a refurbishment of a disgraceful grandstand.

    I agree.

Crown of course have the monopoly on Pokies and have far too many as it is. Burswood and Burke made a great deal. Whatever happened to the ten year restriction? The deal has gone long beyond that.

Will be a venue that is open 7 days a week for as much as 18 hours a day.

What is the attraction that will bring the general public (in numbers) to Belmont racecourse on a daily basis (between 6am and midnight)?

eddie, you never answered the question on how much GRD contributed to their sponsership on the perth cup card.

OR, if you are calling tenders on the printing of race books???

Fast Money, have you been to Next Gen at Kings Park? People also like going to quality lounges, restaurants and bars. We will have 8,000 people ultimately living around the race course and another 12,000 across the road in the casino precinct. Not everyone wants to go to the Crown.

Very true. Not everyone is interested in the Crown. I can't stand the place or the attitude.

Falcon, come along to the 3 May meeting and ask the questions. I'm happy enough for people to use my name but when you do, disclose who you are.

Falcon, we crossed over in cyber space. Perhaps you give me a call. I will need to check quantum of sponsorship but it was large. Tenders are for 3 years. Van guard was by far and away best quote last time. Next call for tenders will be in about 18 months. Could go else where but will cost members plenty.

This announcement today is very exciting. In a little over nine months, work will commence at Belmont.

Do you think that the timeline will be amended on the Perth Racing website to reflect this latest commitment? It currently states, and has done so now for several months, that construction would begin in January 2014 on Stage 2. With the Magic Millions Sale to be held in February, that means that Stage 2 can't commence until at least March now.

Should we expect an announcement from Magic Millions regarding their Winter Yearling Sale location and the 2015 and subsequent yearling sales at the new complex at Ascot ? When does construction commence on that project ?

So with the announcement today of the grandstand demolition, do you expect Stage 2 to be further delayed or proceed just a little bit late ?

I was a little concerned that the WACA dropped their much anticipated development purely due to a lack of interest.

What measures are Perth Racing and GRDWA, taking to overcome this apparent interest in WA inner city lifestyle developments ?

Do away with race books print your own tabloid via digital process

Go one better than that. Ask RWWA to develop their own app to give away via the Apple Store on all mobile devices. No costs for any Club in the State for printing ever again.

Need some type of print format not everyone has a smartphone or I pad

A tabloid digital is way cheaper than what they do now

Race books should be free to ALL members as well

Why would the sale stop anything?
There's a lot more to it than just bringing in a wrecking ball...

I think you will find there was a lot more to the WACA development not proceeding than falling a few presales short. Not proceeding was clearly in the WACA's best interest.
Demand for inner city living is very strong

Ring the office, u can get lunch for 6 in FC plus the race name for 1200 subject to availability of course. Like last year lots of sponsored race days in Feb so you will have to be negotiable on your date.

It's funny you say that, but I can point to several sites, and there is no doubt more, that have struggled to sell 100%. Homeswest are about the only metro developer guaranteed 100% occupancy these days.

GRDWA and Perth Racing will be under intense competition, and one thing is for sure, if they take the same cocky attitude to this project like they did with Ascot Vale, then they are in for a very long ride.

Of more concern is the funding arrangement on this last minute change to plans on the grandstand. If the reported figure from Ted Van Heemst is correct, where is the $200M coming from, except GRDWA Pty Ltd being the perpetual landlord of Perth Racing ?

I'm not going to rehash what I have already stated in this thread but wish to address misstatements by others.

PR will not be taking on any debt associated with the new build. Total cost will be about $80m, this includes a contingency.

The new build is not a "last minute decision". It is instead a careful and well played out strategy to get what we wanted when others did not initially agree. Sometimes it takes time for others to see what is really the best outcome.
