Looks like Bancroft will get his opportunity and Smith just has to stay at 3. One things for sure the series against NZ will be of much higher quality then the training drill against the Windies.

$21 NZ series win 2-0 is massive overs. Ive taken a piece of that, NZ 2-1 @ $8, and drawn series @ $6.
Gabba will suit NZ's bowlers and who knows with the pink ball in Adelaide.
    Aust are massive unders

Quiz question...... Which test batsman has the highest all time batting average ?
  • ChrisChris    5,219 posts
Think Funk was spot on on form, Aussies have played well and a few blokes are taking their opportunities

    @Tivers India?

Andy Ganteaume played in 1 Test (1 innings) for the West Indies and scored 112 (average 112).

    Correct
  • PAULPAUL    2,665 posts
Talking about Test batting averages, which Australian player played his one and only Test innings at the WACA, made an unbeaten half century and therefore doesn't have an average in Test cricket?
  • DarrbsDarrbs    410 posts
    Stuart law?

Well done @Darrbs, Law made 54* vs Sri Lanka at the WACA (1995).

Was that punters 1st test as well Paul. Got a very dodgy lbw in the 90's I think?
  • PAULPAUL    2,665 posts
Yeah, it was. Given out LBW on 96 to a delivery, by memory, was clearly going over the top of the stumps by a good 12 inches or so.

Another question, three Test players have scored a double century in their last Test innings

    Seymour Nurse (WI) - 258 v NZ, Christchurch, 1969
Aravinda da Silva (SL) - 206 v Bangladesh, Columbo, 2002

    and which Aussie?
  • NatsNats    64 posts
    Jason Gillespie?
  • NatsNats    64 posts
I think in the law/ Ponting innings tubby also scored 96 and slats made is highest score of 219. I think one of the waugh's also made a tonne
  • PAULPAUL    2,665 posts
    edited November 2015
Correct on all accounts @Nats. Mark Waugh made a hundred in that WACA test.

    Jason Gillespie, 201* v Bangladesh, Chittegong, 2006.

    http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/238172.html

Brad Hodge could have joined that list when he made 203* v South Africa at the WACA in 2005, however he was called up for one final Test in Kingston, West Indies in 2008.

No player has ever made a 250 & played in a losing Test match. Could Warner be the first?

Highest score made in a losing Test, 242 by Ricky Ponting v India, Adelaide 2003.

Highest score (total of both innings) in a losing Test, 351 (221 & 130) by Brian Lara v Sri Lanka, Colombo 2001.

If NZ lose the Test, it would be the highest first innings score in a losing Test.

Highest team first innings score in a losing Test, 586 by Australia v England, Sydney 1894.

    Or Ross Taylor?

Or the merit of both innings will be lessened by the absolute flat track on which they were scored.

I'd rather a fiery match over in 3 days than this drudgery any time.

Makes no diff how many overs the pink ball lasts if the batting team doesn't even make it to the new ball............

Starc won't bowl again this Test.

Bad news for Starc & Australia - he has an early stage stress fracture in the third metatarsal on his right foot #AUSvNZ
