Those average are manipulated by irregular results.

What were the problems with the full to Delicacy? Why did it sell so cheap?

weak behind,  with bad hocks according to my Vet on xrays. It was a tragedy for Scenic really as it was on paper one of the better prospects for a great price

Must cost you a fortune getting vets to look at all these horses for you

One leading trainer only bought 3. Magic M made a blue so he stopped at 3. Had an order for at least 10 at the sale. One lot was at its top at 100k. He bid 105 and the auctioneer "over there 105 new blood". Was knocked down at 105 and another bidder signed for it. When the trainer disputed the bid and the spotter even said "his bid was 105", Magic M ummed and rrd, before deciding they would put it back in the ring. Trainer "nah dont worry bout it, I'll go to melb and spend my 100k.

An order for 10 ? So that's a lot of stable clients horseless ?

But off to Melbourne he goes to buy something not Westspeed nominated, knowing that he will have to pay overs in a climate that is super heated at all sales this year, and then bring it home to WA to race for only a fraction of what is on offer ? On top of that, I bet the yearling he buys will be Vobis or Bobs eligible but will be highly unlikely to ever see one of those races.

All of this because of a misunderstanding where he could have resolved it by waiting ten minutes whilst the yearling was put back through the ring to clear up the situation. But of course he had 'orders' which is code for some other stupid bastard is paying up so I will just say there wasn't anything on offer that was good enough and I will get something for you in Melbourne. Well just running the $100,000 scenario for a moment. with training fees being what they are, this yearling will have to dominate here or just settle by winning 4 to 5 Saturday races without any bonus attached, just to recoup the costs involved.

You had better hope that when he gets to Melbourne, he applies a bit more commonsense than this episode, because this is just stupid.

You really think he would have got it for 105k if it went back in the ring, give me a break. MM's would have run it up to 105 in 10 seconds. You seem to forget with this chap not spending it cost them because of bad business, what happend to looking after the customer, not all buyers do deals with Breeders ;)

I retain a Vet to work for me exclusively at a set daily fee, so it is in fact very good value for money on both x-rays and health checks. I would have had more than 30 sets of x-rays examined alone, so the saving was outstanding from our point of view.

Sale topping yearling will be sold today by all accounts. Ron Sayers has a Street Cry that whilst not the best specimen, will however make more than $135,000 you would think.

    $300k Gary Moore racing
Races as Busker's Ballad. Had two trials in January over 900M in Sydney. First trial finished 12.5 len behind on a good surface, second trial 15 lens on a good surface.

Mungrup Stud have produced winners for years. Write them off at your peril. Dick Turpin is a lovely stallion, far better credentialed than several others. Whilst I prefer colonial stallions, especially on the tougher WA tracks, every now and again a shuttling stallion can get a good performing horse here in WA.

I usually look at everything in Perth, most more than once. But those that I will take particular interest in, because they can run, are Blackfriars, Choisir, Demerit, High Chaparral, Husson, I Am Invincible, Kendel Star, Mosayter, Oratorio, Sebring, Snippetson, Snitzel, Stratum, Testa Rossa, Trade Fair and Written Tycoon. All are proven at one level or another.

Your Song is an interesting one, as there is a lot of talk about his stock.

How are your purchases from the 2015 sale coming along Damien?
Early days still I know, but are any showing a bit at this stage. There were a couple of nice ones you bought.

Lot 126 %90,000 Husson /Smytzers Rose named Carocapo now stakes winner won 10/3/5 $568,420 still racing

Lot 150 $45,000 Moshe/Voices of Spring named Scalabrino (exported to Singapore renamed Supreme Star - no idea how it ever went) no race earnings here

Lot 324 $24,000 Demerit / Tribal Secret named Lorentinio won 9/10/10 $412,745 still racing

So two out of the three were worthy, the other a dud. No longer purchase for connections

I've heard Jim gets to pick for Sam this year. Well at least the ones he wants. Just rumour, I will check with Jim next time I see him.

Will follow with interest in the coming season
