Red Hot Major unplaced at previous eight starts finishing no closer than sixth...draws barrier one today and goes to the barrier at $1.50 tote and $1.65 fixed. Never seen so many horses be unplaced consistently and then draw the one start deep into the red and get rolled.

Yes, but I couldn't find anything to beat it. In contrast, RocknRoll Beachboy is the previous looked almost a certainty from 1 after the Dalton was scratched, opened at $1.80, duly gets the cash and pays $3.40, nice, and then Estocada goes down in the last...Dame Puissant has ability and no real surprise...especially after the race :(

Some interesting babies went around....good week for the mare Benjor Maddy Lombo.....Handsandwheels wins the Derby on Friday Night and his brother Rock Me Over wins a Sales Classic heat in 1.59.1.  Kiss Chasey's brother Play The Boys, out of good mare Party Boys, clocks 1.56.1 in heat 2 for the boys after doing some work, then Lady Dela Renta trumps all comers and bolts home in 1.55.1 ....super looking filly from the Fly Like A Bird Lombo carrying Jet Laag, Classic Garry blood etc ,and  her Great Granny the gold plated broodmare Misty Maiden, dam of Lombo Pocket Watch. Pity the caller couldn't get her name right, or that of her dam. Grrr!  And Village Benny in winning heat 3 for the boys in 1.58.3 carries very old colonial breeding, his great gran being out of a Bintravis mare with a bit of Captain Hook, the first Meadow Skipper horse to stand in WA,  thrown in.

How about the way Shannon Suvaljko rated in the breeze first starter Village Benny. He's one of the best drivers Australia wide. That horse was kept very safe fixed odds and paid huge overs on tote. Did the job well aided by a bloke who knows what he's doing.

Most times see Stroganoff he runs well. Before he went for a spell was had some very good form mostly in the bush but seen him do a bit of work a few times and fight races right out to the line. He was $17 on tote versus $1.50 Red Hot Major.

Facebook post from Debbie Padburg: I would like to thank every one involved in Village Bennys win at GP today. Thank you to Kim Rose and the staff at the vets for saving Benny's life with emergency colic surgery then his attack of colitis 6 days after his surgery. A big thank you to Kevin Keys and Margaret Nolan and his great staff for teaching Benny to become a racehorse and finally all the guys at our stable for nursing Benny back to health, took a while because of his terrible weight loss, but guys we did it. And of course Shannon for a fantastic drive, so to everyone, from John and myself, THANK YOU all.

    A pretty good story.

The warm favourite had the pie ride run sitting on the back of Village Benny and was going to get him a hundred times up the straight but couldn't get past him. They didn't go too hard but a first starter who sits in the breeze with the fave breathing fire directly behind , took a bit of guts for Benny to hold on. Don't underestimate the genius of S. Suvaljko either.

A couple of very good drives today on 100/1 bolters in the two year old races by Gary Herbert...bringing one home for fourth and another for third. The one that ran 4th boosted the trifecta from $76 to a first four dividend of nearly $1700! Ran 4th simply because he followed the pegs. When driving a horse of zero chance of winning you give yourself a silly chance of running 3rd or 4th if you follow those pegs. He did it to perfection.
