How can a trainer of a horse drive another horse in the race?

The way the industry is going turnover wise, there has to be a blanket rule, if you are the trainer of a horse , you cannot drive another horse in the same race.

Totally agree Abby, you train you drive if you are a owner paying a trainer/driver to train your horse you would expect them to drive. The integrity of our industry is paramount.

My i ask who you are referring to their , i had a quick sqiz from last Frid to Tues and i couldnt see any

What happens quite a bit over East and i think it is fair enough , you will have the son or daughter of a trainer who does all the stable  driving of their parents horses , but they will quite often drive a horse in opposition to their parents horse , if say its a better chance in the race , or its a good opportunity to start driving for that trainer ,

Does the trainer of a horse drive another horse in the east?

I believe it's a national rule but not so easy to receive permission in the east. Put the wife down as trainer problem solved.

To run that time of 1.52.8 over 2680m planted 3 deep the first 800m (after he forced his way off the rail after the start, albeit in breach of about 10 rules), then breezes and fights off Grimson's gang and then runs away from Swayzee untouched, Dixon sitting quieter than a sleeping senator, well, I haven't seen anything like it...ever.

That Qld Derby last night was a fantastic race as well

Emma got nailed on the line twice in a row , the slot race for 2 yr old 500k race , 250k to the winner seriously good money  and they owned that 2 yr old

Tremendous nights racing , you didnt  even have to bet enjoy that harness racing last night

Well, you know, I have seen things like it...Lazarus sitting 3 wide the trip in the Freo Cup was surreal, Pure Steel seeing only the outside fence at Moonee Valley in Hunter Cups, Kilmore Cups and Marathons...but it was quite extraordinary what Leap To Fame did. He has to do it about 30 times to join Steelo but it was still wonderful to see.

Bet The House went nearly as good at Byford trials today. not a 100% sure of the time 1.56ish.
  • JayJayJayJay    8,114 posts
Old RWWA website used to have a link to Byford Trial replays...be handy if that was reinstated on the new and improved Racing WA Harness section.

A bit of a dilemma for handicapper to decide who starts in Higgins Memorial final after Linebacker and Rocket City deadheated for fourth in the Narrogin heat last night .
    Cant see a solution except,
    Heads or Tails

Interesting Arapaho maybe dollars earnt last 5 starts.
  • ArapahoArapaho    295 posts
Yeah, Warren, that could be a option, but the one with the lesser dollars could argue that it was not a condition of the race.
Unfortunately ,,probably the best scenario would be, if there was a scratching so they both could get in.

Yet another EPO Case in North America:

It is rampant over there, especially "mini dosing". Interesting reading.
  • savethegamesavethegame    2,993 posts
Definitely be here just got to ramp up out of competition testing , they were finding it here 2009, Alot players trying to stay one step ahead of the blackbox.
The eighties was cat & mouse.,

WA had a leader in field of Drug Detection Alan Stenhouse put the skids under few stables late eighties pacers& galloping stables with E.J. Detection. .

Its not a good look for their industry , shake it to the core , 10 times winning trainer and in a row , and now staring at  a10 year disq if guilty

Looks like nothing has changed much in 40 years  , early 80s Russell Roberts took a couple of horses over their Rhetts Law ( definitely ) and maybe Pure Steel and when he came home he said he had no hope over their , because they are all on the juice .

Could it be happening in Aust , i dont follow the gallops , but i can remember a couple of years ago a few Qld gallops  trainers went public ( which is most rare in racing ) and said it is beyond obvious that some of their fellow trainers are cheating with drugs , it wasnt a fair and level playing field . Idont know if the officials solved that because like i say i dont follow the gallops

Gee it makes a mockery of this system when you have a race that’s last 5 starts less than 25k and Aardiebytheseaside can get in it with her last 5$ being 199k
