Captain Hammerhead  $12.30 , once it led as good as Swayzee is i didnt think  it could beat it around Albury

Tremendous race tho , tremendous Country Cups concept plus huge bonuses and a tremendous crowd , which the participants would really enjoy and get a thrill out of

Fair to say the track was "fast" at Menangle, Saturday. Seven 1609m races and 4 winners in under 1.50

Very quiet on this Trots forum so i will put a little bit of content

Most exciting race this weekend i think is the 60k Albury Pacing Cup - Swayzee has got a guarnteed NSW Country Cups bonus already of 250k - it doubles to 500k if it can win the Albury Cup - outside the 2nd line - directly inside it is Capt Hammerhead - disq winner of Shepp Cup , 2nd up run was ok - if Cpt H leads , tight track Albury then i dont know if Swayzee can beat it

Fantastic article on AHR Site re Dyanna ,hopefully my link worked  obviously loves all types of horses , reading what she said , - the care and what she looks out for and the maternal lines  and the whole lot  , honestly you could buy all 4 yearlings that she has for sale at the Syd/Melb sales

I wonder how many Dyanna types still exist in the current WA Trots Breeding scene
Marko, your comment above spot on the money, excellent summation. Was a great race not sure who the caller was, and only heard audio live, replay later, but he painted the picture perfectly of that last lap.

The Carnival of Cups is a great concept (not saying it's original). The $1m bonus for a horse that wins all 5 is a great punt by HRNSW to ensure quality fields. And don't the locals get behind their Cup.

    Hi All

If anyone knows any trainers who bought a horse at APG today and is keen for some fresh owners, i want to buy a share in a pacer. Not looking for a huge share, 10% or so depending on price. Even on a passed in lot, if breeder wants to retain to race i would be fine with that too. Happy for people to point me in the right direction or send me a DM. Thank you.

I just checked Friday GP fields and noticed there has been a trend with the $9k races disappearing and all races $21k or more but how are races 1.2.3.10. not the old Pathways at $9k.
    1. Is this a way to get full 10 race meeting with outer city horses.
    2. GP or RWWA has found some spare money to have  so many non city horses running for city prize money. I have no problem with them running for $9k prize money the Pathways have been around for years which has been a great stepping stone from country to city class. But outer country horses is a big leap.
    3. Rumours have it that prize money cuts will be announced 2nd half of this year.
    4. So why have gone from some  $9k to all $21k races Friday nights (maybe only to take horses from other meetings to make there fields look small and take there turnover ?
    5. So the owners in good faith have purchased yearlings or high price NZers in good  faith that prize money will stay the same to recoup there purchases may get a shock with prize money reductions. (Victoria style)
Hope I'm wrong but the warning bells are ringing.

I forgot the 75% discount for  2yr and 3yr has gone.
  • BetonmeBetonme    218 posts
I'm not sure what the go was, but races 1, 9 & 10 were added as a late programing change, all horses were late noms into them. Might have been to boost the friday meeting.

  • FrogFrog    126 posts
I think your on to something the programming is leaving city horses in there stable, with 0/1 wins
running around at GP on Friday nights for $21k how ??? Plus races 4 and 7 had to do redo there barrier draws. There seems to be a massive problem in the RWWA Office and this is not the first week. The programming doesn't allow for M 0 winners because its less than the money they receive $15k on there first winning metro race leaving them out of noms. So with the new NR system if you get to FFA  to quick your off to the USA if your not in the top 4, 2/3 yr olds lose there 75% discount and than valued less than there purchase price at sales. There doesn't seem to be a bright light into the future.
Leaving quauity horses for Metro meeting less.

    Are Vic Trots stony broke

Today at Maryborough ( and this is also happening at Geel frid nights and Ballarat and Bendigo where it is a mixture of of both 4k and 6 k races ) all 7 races today are 4k races

Goulburn in NSW have 9 races at 9.8k a race - Pinjarra 8 races at 9.4k

And believe or not Kapunda SA yes its their Cup meeting so ignore their 2 races at 12k each , but the other 6 races , 4 at 7k and 2 at 4.5k

It would be a hell of long time since the SA Monday meeting had better price money than the Vic meeting

How would you survive in Vic

Race 2 at Penrith tonight the ex WA Pacer Desiderio it blew from $8.50 to $16 , yes i had a small e/w bet on it at the $14

But they should show the vision of that race to not just inexperienced junior drivers , but to quite a few senior drivers when leading who to be honset have got NFI , they panic kick clear and get beat

It was a beautiful drive by Robbie Morris , ive got the fave on my back , ive got everything else beat , so there is no panic at all we just keep them bottled up , and the race caller emphasised that point brilliantly

Thats how Donny Dove won a couple of AG Hunter Cups in Melb , lead on its ear , no panic at all , stack them up and win

As the race caller said they went across the line as if it was one lap to go.

Interesting story regarding professional punters and a Texas Lottery.

Bernard Marantelli worked for me as a bookies clerk whilst completing a degree in biochemistry at UWA.

Stewards today concluded the adjourned inquiry into the tactics of Driver G Hall Jnr (BLAMEITONTHENIGHT NZ), in particular the reason for his decision to shift away from the pegs to challenge VANDERBILT NZ (A Cortopassi) after being crossed by that runner leaving the back straight on the first occasion. From that point, BLAMEITONTHENIGHT NZ raced outside the leader until giving ground from the 500m and finishing 69 metres behind the winner, with an above-average lead time of 34.6 seconds recorded.  Mr Hall explained he was concerned the gelding would over-race after being crossed and believed there may be an opportunity to regain the lead, however once caught outside the leader, the gelding began contacting its sulky and over-raced, putting him at a disadvantage and contributing to the poor performance.  A post-race veterinary examination showed no abnormalities. Stewards adjourned the matter to review the evidence and the horse’s prior performances. Upon consideration, Stewards accepted that the gelding’s racing manner while contacting its sulky contributed to its finishing position. Stewards determined that Mr Hall had erred in his tactics by shifting from the pegs to challenge for the lead, however in all of the circumstances found that he was not fully culpable under the rules and was told that he is expected to use greater judgment in similar situations, particularly as VANDERBILT NZ never appeared likely to surrender the lead when running the above average lead time and establishing that position.                                                                                                                                                                                                     ^:)^ Another example that you do what you want and suffer no reprocussions.
