GP 15/12 Back to reality.

Harness & Greyhounds
R1: The trial form of the 2 only reads fair at a quick glance so it probably lends itself to Cot Beach just running straight to the top. She was gassed early sat and only 6 days between runs i'm happy to bet against her, thought Speed Man could get it done either getting up outside her if it is soft early or zap her late. Bet: Wins Speedman.

R2: I'm not playing this event.

R3: Soho Leviathan looks to be able to cross those under him and then I expect him to hand up to Messi. I'm going to take a chance that they might over cook it a bit early and that Glenferrie Rustler is going to be ready to go first up. He is going to be something like 4 back the fence so he will need a bit of luck but if he gets it i'm confident he will be running on. Bet:No10 Glenferrie Rustler EW. FF:6,10/1,5,6,10/1,5,6,10/1,2,5,6,7,10,9,11.

R4: Oneonthewood to set it early being the only horse off the front with Maximum Demand on his back and Always Arjay with Assassinator both charging early to try take the top away from the 1. Not a race i'm playing heavily but should be a good one. Bet: EW Oneonthewood should give a sight.

R5: Pretty keen on a maddy here. Expect there to be a really good charge early between the 1,2,3,4. Sitting right behind them will be The Revolution. He was hitting the line very well (admittedly in a slow quarter) last week. His best is good enough to win this. Bet: EW No11 The Revolution.

R6:The couple of early markets I have seen have it priced as though Sokys Bigbullet runs to the front and that's all she wrote. Not sure that happens. Liked the flashing last start effort of Walkinshaw, admittedly that was along the pegs and he will be in the moving line here but i'm willing to take that as a sign he is returning to more like what he appears to be capable of. Skippy Rascal will be up in the firing line throught and looks like he will be a backable price as well. Bet: EW No11 Walkinshaw and something small Skippy Rascal.

R7: My thoughts are that Ideal Alice will try to hold the front until Ohoka Punter gets there. I also think that the Voak train will be well aware of this and kick up in between him on Vultin Tin. Then you have to factor in Alice can get keen and might get trucking on Jones. I don't like backing things off the fence and back in the field over the longer trips, they have looked like they have been running in quick sand that final lap regardless of what times they have been getting home. With that in mind if McDonald can get El Hombre to the fence early and stay there until the final 500m or so I genuinely think he can zap them. The fact that Vultin Tin ran as well as he did through the inters, has a switched on driver and is as a tough as they come combined with him looking to be an EW price he is an EW bet to nothing here too. Bet: EW Vultin Tin, El Hombre. Novelties around the 6&9.

R8: Quick glance it looks Rock Diamonds race. Hawkins is an aggressive driver on the 1 but I expect him to restrain. Hard to get a gauge on Lets Chase The Dream but is obviously a massive class drop. Bet: Not one i'll be playing hard but FF:3/1,4/1,4,5,10/1,4,5,10,11,12.

R9: Interesting to see if Maczaffair tries to put it to bed in the first 150m and charges the arm or goes back and just uses her class. I'd probably go tactic B as if she did charge out there are a few that could be tempted to go with her but also if a horse like Dior Mia More got an easy lead she could definitely give some cheek so it is a tough decision. A watch race for me.

R10: I thought Madam Meilland was just put in take out, should lead and should win. Has opened up a generous price with sportsbet. I thought Sheez Edgy would do enough to keep her back throughout and that was about it, don't really see her as the threat the market has found. Simondu Su gets to the fence behind her and kicks in the value for the FF. Bet: FF: 2/1/3/FD.

Good luck all.

Am concerned about the draw and how the race will be run...but if their happens to be a bit of speed on...have heaps and heaps of time for race 6. #12. Zach McGuire.

Skippy Rascal is flying and could easily cross Glow Bright and hand up to Sokys Big Bullet and that will make it difficult for Zach but think he's top shelf in the making. I'm Rockaria could be the blow out but awkwardly drawn behind the one paced Glow Bright.

She's been a bit up and down but at around $3.20 a place if can slot in behind Ideal Alice then rock on with Sheer Rocknroll for a drum!

Interesting horse in the first, Mistah Mistah....was on and off the market prior to his first start at Addington after a couple of nice qualifying  trials as a 2yo. Firm offers made and nearly accepted from WA and then he went off the market. Rumoured that they wanted more money. Had his first start and won (incidentally, bringing up Dexter Dunn's 2000th winner) by a nose, then disappeared off the scene and has now turned up in WA. Nice type by Sportswriter, looked a big strong 2yo...hasn't run any time as yet but will be an interesting runner against some top fillies.

First time I have noticed LB Harper in the ownership ranks for an extensive period JJ.
Good luck to him and his boys.....nice to see a glimmer of humanity in a wider sense permeate the industry protocols. LB might have inhabited the wrong side of the equation eons ago but Charles Manson he aint.

Hmm...saying nothing about race 1, just gnashing teeth.

Tommy Be Good has to step but an M5 against M0/M1 horses and only off 30m versus the M1's off 10 and 20m. Seems well treated.

Shannon did a good job...the Train got a fly on Assassinator and nearly found the front but Suvaljko used all that Trayning  Merredin Wyalkatchem Collie Katanning and Busselton experience to keep his legs inside The Fat Controllers horse and cause him to take a trail.

That was a massive first four dividend $575 with Abraxas Blues splitting the two hot pots and S. Suvaljko running on to fourth with The Revolution.

The two longest priced winners so far tonight Ruling Gold at over $13 and Always Arjay over $10...their wouldn't be too many more consistent money earners going around.

The two drivers go ok too.

Zach Maguire is one way above average horse. Goes through the lines in teriffic style...had another gear or two up his sleeve tonight. Saw him win at Pinjarra about 12 odd months ago...wasn't entitled to win but stormed past them.

    He's WA Pacing Cup material!

Black book : Safari Storm. Big effort in the last.

Sensible good drive Jocelyn Young on Simondsu..barrier 3 get behind the leader and the drum was never in doubt.

wowee DEG good on you for trying to win yhe race and boosting the FF but at the same time you were never going to win that race just and up and run second.

  • JayJayJayJay    7,628 posts
Ala the Hawk on the Trilogy.....Simondsu still probably gets 2nd,, being driven to its capabilities maximises the return for its connections and at a fat price of late.

Apparently, the late start at GP was a Sky Channel thing to accommodate an extra race in Melbourne but a bonus for GP bottom line. Smart move to open facilities early with an "English Breakfast Special" each morning and JP's bar chockers all day for those fed up with getting cooked at the cricket, able to watch on the big screen in comfort....and from the look of things and the atmosphere through the effects mike, they stayed on for the racing. Smart decisions from management. Similar deal tonight.

If the first race could have started around 6.30 rather than 7 it would have been perfect JJ as there was approx an hour lag between the cricket finishing and the first race starting at GP but much better programming than having the cricket finish and the last race running at GP simultaneously as happened last year one game.
Something to keep in mind for the events at Perth Stadium as well.
