Keen to watch one horse tonight and not until the final race - he should have won easily first up from a spell when at a price - worth seeing the replay - when in Victoria could be a little enigmatic but always showed ability.

It's hard to see him beating long odds on fave Bettor Vision but keen to watch and something small each way on Dominate The Dojo!!
Think trainer Kevin Keys will get a win out of this guy somewhere along the line.

Our Max Phactor this guy seems to go around long odds on every start and does the job to perfection. No idea if that's handicapping or placement..or they go hand in hand.

Good meeting but dominated by odds on favourites and limited chances in many of the races. One of the events is 25/1 bar two.

The proliferation of odds on faves continues. Alright if you like to back the shorties though. You've got plenty of 'em...eight out of the ten races deep in red. Some long long long odds on - it's a bit of a joke really.

All the $1.10 shots they often ( and there's plenty ) start from one or two gate...too simplistic in saying can we put them out at 9,10,11 or 12 ?

If the games about competitive odds pricing and punting ( which of course it's not ) then that's where they'd be starting!

Albany trots tonight - 8 races and 6 odds on favourites ,all between $1.10 and $1.40 .

    WA pacing tonight.
    18 races.
14 odds on favourites...and we are not talking those so called magical $1.80 ones where everybody is (supposedly) happy.

Most of these 14 odds on favourites are dripping deep into the red.
    14/18 that's a lot in anybody's book.

A race 25/1 bar two...that should only happen if it's Pure Steel and Satinover in the race or Gammalite - Popular Alm. We get it in average fields.

What's more important is to see how they go on $100 a win basis - tote.
    1. Michael Joseph - rolled @$1.70 Down $100.

Was a sneaky good run two or three starts ago Neighlor when badly blocked for a run. Well done JJ, who said ya can't win from the nine draw at 40/1!

A run of 5 favourites shorter than $2.10 is about to begin. They all look extremely hard to beat.....hence the short odds.
If there was a driver challenge market on gp tonight he would be $1.04

I'm Soxy rolled so that's $200 down, but the next four have all won 2 at GP and 2 at Albany...all at the big odds of $1.30....investment so far $600 and for backing 4 winners out of 6.... on a $100 win basis - down $80.

Your'e right @offthebit it wasn't a bad drive by SS on Neighlor, see him down the back straight ?! Right about then thought if he can weave some magic, this horse is travelling.

Was suited by the horse in the breeze overracing and clapping on the tempo, but you still have to make your own luck on a 40/1 chance. He did.

Bettor Aim paid extremely well on Unitab - $1.00 for the win and a terrific place dividend of $1.00.
Congratulations you backed a winner, here's your money back.

You can when Shakin Stevens is up front with a "you drive me Cwaeazee"effort.

Rarely draws a barrier and from (9) tonight had to sit outside an odds on horse with form 11211 drawn barrier 2

Did Warwick crack like glass on Bright Diamond by going too soon in the straight?  :-\"

    Haha Shakin Stevens.
Those two went nuts up front. When you're on the ten year old Oneonthewood @$3 you'd want everything going your way!

Must be the only one in Australia that doesn’t realise that horse can’t lead.. Dirty stopper the minute anyone puts any pressure on it down the back straight

Don't think the winner could have sat outside Gabana and beaten her.

No doubt the barrier draw is crucial, although sometimes it makes bugger all difference - it's all dependant on How The Race Is Run.
    ( Oneonthewood 1. V Neighlor 9. )

The draw gave the Hawk the opportunity not to be treated with contempt on Dontstopbelievin....and he refused to be....then didn't disgrace himself with the finishing position.....if he wasn't pressured so hard mid race he finishes much closer. Made a race of it not a procession.....good on him.

Forgive me for being pedantic but wasn't it Fine Young Cannibals that drove everyone crazee? However, point taken haha. From gate 9, Neigh needs the pace  to be on, anything out the back does.....if they walk and zoom home in sub 56, most horses battle to make any ground, and the race was absolutely run to suit him but he still needed an ace drive and that was served up in spades by SJS. Was presented rock hard fit. In defense of Neigh, his last run when he blew the start was actually pretty good, his form is a lot better than it reads from bad draws but he has his limitations, either in front or behind, just lacking a bit to be a high class horse. He has plenty of critics, good, go for it, I'd love another one like him even though he can be very difficult at times. Matt has been inordinately patient with him. Going back, just before I bought him, he won a race in Auckland in exactly the same style, last out the gate and storming home the last 300m, which is about as long as his "kick" lasts.

On the hunt for some nice fresh sticky buns and a nice cuppa at Manji Stockfeeds in the morning for the ritual dissection of Friday Night's racing by the assembled experts.

Some shorties for the place on Tabtouch tonight from barrier one a place.

    Oneonthewood $1.24 - whoops no.
Ohaka Darcy $1.85 - try again.
Cracka Star $1.75 - went backwards.
    Machrie $1.26 - Bingo!!

The race just run that was the 25/1 bar two...and those two couldn't run a place from barriers one and two! 2 average horses taking 99% of the market just because they've drawn 1 & 2.

Nothing in the history of gambling starts shorter than horses drawn 1 & 2 at GP.

Nothing in the history of gambling starts shorter than horses drawn 1 & 2 at GP.

And they almost always go at a suicidal clip when that's the case. 10-1 on drawn the pegs and the brakes go on...very silly way to spend a Friday night if you're betting on the ponies tomorrow

Coming to think of it Fine Young Cannibals did have a similar song name to that...but Shakin Stevens definetly too, that one and "The Green Door".

It was a good win JJ... had a little bet on him the night he galloped, after his very good run the previous start.

Also had a decent place bet on Gotta Go Gabana the night she galloped and have left both alone since!

Winner in a class of its own. The Dojo was ok from the breeze.
Was hoping for anything bar the breeze. Another night for him in the right race and a nice draw.
Winner didn't beat much but that was impressive!

Good song Curmudgeon remember it well.

Favourites from the 80s were by a group called The Stranglers - "Always The Sun", and "In Between Days" by the Cure...both a little different.

I bow to others serious musical knowledge haha, I must admit to not being an authority on Shakin Stevens ......Neigh will get some tunes piped into his box tomorrow morning......thinking the Boss and "Born To Run", Steve Miller's "Go On Take The Money And Run" and Neil Youngs "Long May You Run", maybe even slip in the Boz Scaggs classic "Payday" along with a nice bundle of fresh cut lucerne.
