Race 2. NEXUS RISK SERVICES HANDICAP (1600m)
Stewards held correct weight in consultation with the official Judge to review the patrol film over the
concluding stages where the photo finish had failed. It was ascertained that BACK IN A MINUTE (K
Cross) and ALMASTER (E Stent) had dead-heated for fourth. The official numbers were corrected and
correct weight was disseminated shortly after

What a joke. Almaster finished wide on the track and wasn't captured by the photo finish.
Below is the official photo with Almaster absent. Following the photo are still shots from the video which clearly show Almaster finishing in clear 4th.

    Right with ya Rodent!

What have noticed over the years in Australia ( racing and harness ) if the camera not working or didn't work - it's been amazing how many times the judge(s) call it a dead heat.

If in doubt call it a deadheat - yes that's fine - but several deadheat decisions have seen like the one above - their is no doubt!

Think they might have to work along the guide lines of must be 100% sure of result...possibly if just 90% sure - it's not enough and have to call deadheat.

Don't know if that's the case though, and the one above does look 100%.

Would like to hear the judges interviewed on Sky or Racing Radio - for them to go through their procedures, because it's a job they need to get correct 100% of the time - even when the photo finish not working - but think you may find Rodent - that if any doubt whatsoever - they tend to call it a deadheat.

Even being in a prime spot on course - and with benefit of replay - they still tend to go deadheat sometimes. Can understand the... if in any doubt - go deadheat.

But agree the one above looks pretty obvious.

Technology - photo finish cameras ( can include in that )...everything works brilliantly until it stops working!
