The Other Ascot Preview for 14/12/19 by TMP (sill)

West Australian Racing
All I can say to Flanders and today's post is the 'To err is Human; to forgive is Divine.'
I have a lot of time for B Paterson; but sometimes people just try too hard! I really do wish him well for the future.

Yes; we are at Ascot again. I am starting to hate that bend into the straight the final time; if you handle it you are in there; but if you do not handle that turn, you have to be lengths and lengths above the others to win (or even place)!

R/1 This is a great race; even with 7 starters.
I thought Levitate was way unders (famous last words).
Then of course there is Boomtastic that I had a good win on 3 starts back.
Silkininize only just won last time i think in weaker company.
I loved the win of Downforce 2 starts back and have forgiven him at his last run over maybe an unsuited 100m; and taken 7's over here.
Mia Dolce is a great filly with I think a marvellous new trainer; so she has gone in at 10's.

R/2 The topweight blew to 9's last start and now with WP back is 3.5!?!
There are arguments for 2,3,4 and 7.
But I will go with %, Prince Turbo; agreat run from the barrier and a super time. i think the trainer is underrated and have taken the 4.2

R/3 Horses 2 and 7 are practically the equal faves here.
I have gone with the 7 Plutocracy; hoping he shows us the last talented win agin with the happiness of WP on board.

R/4 Gee Not to be Mist showed amazing strength with that win last time in v v fast time; no wonder he is 1.7.
My spesh from last week was sceatched from a 1200m race and now sent to 1500m with Lucy up! Well he is still a good chance and te stable should like him avoiding being the fave!

R/5 This is v v even; looking at 1,2,3,5,6,7 and 8.
I setteled on Inflation; hoping he is fitter and will race up front or on Sophies Song's back.

R/6 Inspirational Girl is the same sire as Leading girlfrom the same camp. i had enormous respect for the latter's ability and now the stable mate looks mighty good too.

R/7 I thought Forceful was going to go straight past them last time over the 2100m but did not make it.
I believe he still ran the fastes last 600m but theoretically the extra 100m does not help.
You just have to put the big fella in again Missile Launch (despite the big price of 5.5!).

R/8 Nos. 4,7,8,9,10 amd 11 here.
Flower of War has led in the past from outside barriers but no flash times I can see; the record makes her fave though (is there a stablemate in here?).
I liked More Aces at Ascot and maybe an on speed horse here will do well.
Supreme Force has his foot on the till here; if he is on the way up, he may run right over the top of them.

There you go; the battle is on again; and may the Force be with you!
I have sinusitis at present and sound like Darth Vader.

    Geraldton forecast is 41 too.

Any compensation for trainers bringing horses 400k down this morning?

Forecast to be 34° at 3pm and falling. 1st race at 3.39pm means it's a non issue.

Sea breeze in here now (Greenwood). Dropped to 27 already at Hillary's.
It'll be low 30's at Ascot by the time the first would have started.

    Still over 40 at Ascot.
The powers that be made a decision.
Damned if you do, damned if your don't. Don't sook because they made a decision in regards to the welfare of the horses.

Any time they make a decision for the welfare of the horses is a right decision in my book.

Guess impractical but with the extreme heat, instead of late starts and the heat at its strongest, how about going the other way, hoops and trainers always up at daybreak, punters up early, how about a 7am start or 7.30 and 25 mins between races - all over by 10am or 10.30ish.

Sky comes on early, it's just a one off, something different. Might only have to do it once or twice a year. Especially for the Perth Cup prospects, preparation was built around today.

I was wondering if yesterday's heat was here last Saturday if the same decision would apply to cancel

no way, spinking. yesterday at around 3pm (start time) it was cooling down with a bit of breeze.
