Bob has two in it... Superstorm drew terribly... I wonder if Willie will go for Regal Power as a result?

Melody Belle for me, Bosson should possy up around 1 by 3 and swamp the Blood and co. late..wet or dry no factor either.
No knock on AB but into open company and meeting some group 1 genuine milers he might be in trouble holding them off late.

Realise tempo is the main ingredient, but watch that track, last meeting the Heath was dynamite for on speed and rail.

Like Melody Belle too but last start had the run of the race and couldn't make any ground on the front two. With Streets Of Avalon leading all the way. Oakleigh plate winner led all the way, Blue Diamond winner was up on speed - they were like that all day. Damian Lane got the final winner into the box seat.

IF plays like that again, good luck getting past the Alligator, or any horse in the top four.

Never been convinced about track bias but Caulfield is a special one, have seen it happen there often.

Even though dissapointing behind Streets Of Avalon the Chris Waller - Kolding might run a much better race if track plays fairer.

One of the corps has Superstorm and Regal Power both over $10.

$11 and $13 respectively - that would make them between $3 and $4 a place - that's very tempting, if both are over $3 on the day on the tote that would be pretty good.

Think either of them could win it, let alone run a place. Will be surprised if both miss top three.

Rail out 6m, decent rainfall forecast for Friday and a cold day Saturday(top of 16 degrees)so it might be just in the soft range and stay there?..I am definitely wary of that bias Riders won't be punting until near race time to assess the state of play.
  • Ridersonthestorm33Ridersonthestorm33    10,809 posts
Sounds like Melbourne alright! A soft track could make things interesting, and slow to heavy a new ball game.

Alligator Blood is gonna have to earn it the hard way. Running up that hill from the 1600m at Caulfield can be suicidal for leaders drawn wide. I think he's probably unders at this point but if he does win, it's gonna be hard to keep a lid on the hype.

Dont mind the these four all over double figures and all with WA connection -
    1. Regal Power - WA.
    2. Superstorm - WA.
    3. Mr. Quickie - Damien Oliver WA.
    4. Kolding - Chris WA ller.

If I were betting right now I'd probably choose Melody Belle-has been set for this race, gets a barrier which allows Opie Bosson options and handles the wet track no worries should that eventuate.

that G1 or whatever it was Streets Of Avalon pinched there was also a huge leaders bias that day i'm pretty sure it was well documented, i'd put a line through that last start you speak of and if anything made ground that day watch for it today if it is running

At times they were $3.50 and $4.50 a place! Can't quite work how can be a great second in a Group One Australian Cup, and Superstorm fantastic in the Guineas race and next runs plenty of 12/1 and 16/1.

Vic punters love the west Aussie horses and overall Perth form - not! Gatting 125/1, Bart 100/1, Regal Power 12/1.

Only go back to Meliador, Coal Pak, Heron Bridge, Placid Arc etc but been saying ever since back then our jockeys - measure up, our trainers - measure up and best horses - they more than measure up!

Beaux Art, Rogan Josh etc...considering everything WA does more than ok. Celestial Show placed in a Caulfied Cup another one, Northerly went ok. Plastered wasn't bad. Plenty more. The list is pretty high quality.

They can't do well all the time, but they've carried the flag pretty well over the journey.

Hypothetical and home ground advantage can make a big difference but run exactly the same field at Ascot or Belmont Park stg, Regal Power 5/1 and Superstorm 7/1 and that's being generous.

Some of the eastern states horses in the middle range market there - well we've seen that type run here sometimes - often there not much good.

Taken Bob many years to work this out!!
Lords Ransom and Perfect Reflection are 2 other examples, imagine what they could have done if left with original trainer :-?

Spot on STG....I think his exact words were "C'mon Bob, lets do this together, we have had enough of this ****, we are a good team"....short and sharp and on the money. Truly an outstanding achievement. Hope Ray and Dot found a hole in the fence to sneak in and watch this brilliant achievement after flying to Melbourne and copping the "lock out". Dreamy Knight at GP last night from the one gate with brother Mike deputising, pretty good weekend Raymond.

    B.O.F. correct.

More like I should have put Waller was the last straw.,,,Perfect reflection was a crying shame, remember someone posting a photo of her in the mounting yard on PTT. skin off hip and looked like bag of bones, in the guineas ran15 of 15 beaten 22l. she could have been a superstar. IMO think she never came back, even though she won a couple.

Great ride by Willie, too. Kept Opie Bosson(Melody Belle) in a pocket and it was the difference. The strong tempo also didn't hurt, given RP is a Derby winner. The kiwi mare surely will find something suitable in Sydney if she continues on? Jennifer Eccles was dominant in the NZ Oaks today, too. Look out if she comes to Sydney for the ATC Oaks!
