@Flanders 500? If you believe what is written on here half the time you would struggle to get that many patrons. But tell ppl they can’t go and they suddenly find the motivation? Racetracks were struggling before COVID-19 and not a fuck was given by anyone.

I wouldn’t buy a ticket to the races even as little as 24 hours before hand. I don’t know what my weekend holds until it hits. I think a good 80% of people are the same.

para, doesn't your weekend consists of sleeping in, going to mass and then having a few mysteries? ;)

Spoke with two longterm employees of Crown Casino last night, former work colleagues, and both were convinced the earliest Crown would re-open would be late June but most likely July. One went as far as to say that they would be the last due to the confined nature of gambling rooms no matter the size. I can't see racetracks getting too much of a head start on Crown.

No chance the Crown gaming room being open any time soon.
Try sitting at a poker table or blackjack table during the Aussie Millions in January when International visitors coming out of their winters disgustingly cough and sneeze all over you without any thought of covering their mouths.
If they do cover their mouths with their hands, the filthy pigs then handle the chips with their disease ridden hands. Good luck with that.
Have I made my point ???

Watching Bunderberg on Monday(we’ll trying to watch where camera seemed like an I phone)there seemed to be a few punters just pass the winning post..
Anyway June 18th is D day for pubs stage 1 lockdown restrictions lifted? Maybe punters to track them?

Can't wait to get back to the track and pay $15 to get in, can't wait to pay exhorbitant drink prices, and can't wait to pay $13 for a basic burger. Can't wait to wait 40 minutes between races. Can't wait to see security people everywhere.

    Just saying.

Weve come this far, lets just let it run its couse, but it will sure be different when it does happen,im sue this being huge crowds in the winners ring, will be disapointing for the ones in big syndicates,Gamgemis just springs to mind.

    Should be now!

These **** restrictions in place and we have what.... 2 active cases in WA.
McClown was going ok, but his dickwit qualities are coming to the fore lately.

Open **** up NOW, of course, keep doing the hygiene thing and a bit of common sense with social distancing. This rubbish of keeping everything in lockdown is serving no useful purpose.

    2 active cases!

How do you common sense social distancing at a racecourse?
  • SKIDSSKIDS    1,006 posts
Proof that common sense isn't that common ^

cmon then brainwave give us your blueprint. Why do you think racing has continued where football rugby hasnt
  • hashhash    7,495 posts
Maybe because rugby is a contact sport
Or maybe rugby spectators are more likely to get physical when their team loses and opposed to the penguin at Belmont when his quinella tickets are losers

    confirmed*

If there's anyone with mild symptoms or asymptomatic and they go into a crowded area it's a problem. By all means-open up SA, NT & WA to each other but there's a reason why the experts are still pushing the social distancing stuff-as over the top as it does seem.

very wise to keep vic. and nsw isolated from us....nsw has been a bit hasty in their restrictions. i think the money hungry AFL will demand opening up to spectators before the race clubs do.

WA has had 32 days since a positive case not from an arriving traveller bar one health care worker. We just don’t have it in the community, we have restrictions for absolutely no reason and they’re killing the economy.

We have restrictions because they're reducing them in 2 week bands - to confirm last lot removed didn't cause any issue.
Next lot will be this weekend.

Anyway, I enjoyed my race day experience from the comfort of my backyard very much Saturday.
Prefer that to one case getting in to the industry and having no experience at all.

And while I hear the calls to open it up - I believe that isn't far off.
Sooner than later if we can get to Zero, and also keep any external out.

4 people flown in last night are positive. Wouldn’t have wanted to be on that flight..........

Yep, was about to say - after all the above (No new cases, only 2 active etc)..........bang !
    4 new in one day ! :(

The point is we are at zero, as para said 4 more new ones today as they flew in so now 6 active cases but they don’t really count.  It’s now 33 days without local transmission in the state.

I’m not talking about going to the races either as I generally watch from home as it is it’s about opening everything up.

They tell us how infectious and dangerous this virus is and I absolutely believe that, look at Brazil, New York or countless other places.  But if that’s the case you can’t then also say we could have it lurking in the community without knowing after 33 days. Those 2 things don’t marry up

Charlotte Mills commented on radio today that race clubs were classified (for numbers of non essentials allowed) as a licensed area.

In seeing if/when members eg could attend she suggested that a club might be able to have more than one area so if 20 was the limit they could perhaps have 3 or 4 areas of 20.

However the ruling is that a club consists of one licensed area so multiple areas would not be allowed

Day one back to class and a Sydney school has had to be evacuated.
Leave the tracks (and state borders) as they are for now thanks.
Happy to watch from home - maybe even the pub in a week or three.
