Belmont 16/9/20

West Australian Racing
R1- FIRST MOMENT is getting close to a maiden victory having run placings behind Classic Magnus and Chili Is Hot. Both of those horses have won since making the form look good and last start dropped back to 1000m when running into all sorts of trouble before being eased down. Gets Chris Parnham back on and gets to 1300 which she should appreciate. Should find a midfield spot with cover from five and gets in really well with 53.5kg against the older horses.

R2- MIYAGI raced very consistently throughout her first campaign and should be better for the experience. Finished behind some talented types including Real Grace and Charleton Eddie who would lap this field and 1300 looks an ideal starting point for her. Is another filly who gets in with a luxury 53.5kg impost against older horses and can use barrier one to sit leaders back and weight for the cutaway in the straight.

R3- Best Bet: LORDING looks a class above this field and should prove very hard to beat. Comes to this first up no trial which should have him fresh so he can kick through and lead from barrier one. Ran second to River Beau twice last campaign when beating home Captain Kink and Platinum Bullet which is far superior opposition than what he faces here. Gets in super at the weights after Ramoly’s claim and he’s riding well at the minute.

R4- TABELLA has plenty of ability but also can do plenty wrong in her races so you can never be over confident. Needs space in her races but jumped much cleaner last start so hoping she can make a habit of that and she should end up outside the leader. Was able to hold after leading at 1300 last start in reasonable time and may appreciate coming back to 1200 here. Just needs a good jump to be a big chance at double figure odds.

R5- CONVICTED MAN is racing in career best form barring three starts ago when missing the jump hopelessly. Has raced in fast run 1400s his last two when winning from near last and a third to Tycoon storm on a dominant leaders track. Gets out to 1700 after four runs and should relish the extra trip as well as the small field. Finds himself in an easier field here and should run another honest race.

R6- SMILE FOR ME gets her best chance this campaign for a win. Found the 1000m too sharp first up before some good finishes into the placings at her last two behind Looks Like Magic and Native Chimes who won again last week. Comes back to 1200 here but her last start was very impressive on the clock and she can use barrier four to sit a bit closer which looks beneficial to her chances.

R7- ANNIHILATOR is building towards another win and this looks a nice option. Won in dominant fashion in this grade four starts ago before a midfield finish behind Ration Aly and second to Approach who both look promising horses. Needs a soft run in transit to show his best but should get that in this and had to carry 61kg last start so the extra half shouldn’t worry him too much. Backs up off the week and strikes a moderate field.

R8- OMBUDSMAN is racing well enough to be winning one of these staying races sooner or later. Takes time to build into his campaign but is fourth up now and finished off okay last start behind Frosty Heart who has come out and won since. Should be able to use barrier two to sit closer than he has at his last two and will get the pace on which should suit and will get a lovely run on the fence and wait for the cutaway.

Two at a price for me R4 No7 Playing Up and pretty keen on R8 No8 Ahyoko Frost, think the price is very generous, track across in behind them and pounce in the straight.

I like Notorious One who finally debuts today in an average maiden, most of his trials have been ok and i liked the way he finished off the latest albeit a bit green still.
Looks ready made to get up to a mile plus fairly quickly assuming he is sound now.
Holy Enchantment is a danger but i didnt rate the trial, could be worth a saver if it gets to a better price

R4 Celebrity Witness up to 1200 looks an improver after a decent debut run when unlucky in the straight.

R5 None of these win out of turn except for Zip Your Lips i thought Racy Ava may be ready after an encouraging 2nd up run just might be her turn with 56kgs after the claim.

R6 Casino War was brave 1st up, the winner goes ok and had a far better run in transit.
Dont mind the 4 week break and should get a pie run from the inside gate.
Wary of the 6 back in trip, is well in with 55 and likely to get a better run this time.
