Belmont 28/7/21

West Australian Racing
R1- KARDASHIAN KLASS is the less fancied of McDonagh runners but brings a little more intrigue. Former interstater who trialledokay before resuming in the Belmont Oaks where she led and rolled along before fading from the turn. Dropped back to a mile and into maiden grade last start where she led and although being headed early in the straight never gave much ground away in fifth. Backs up, finds the front soft again and looks like she needs a staying trip.

R2- WOMMEL WOCK has been gelded since a moderate debut campaign. Showed good gate speed at his sole race run and fought on okay when getting with 3L of subsequent dual group 3 winner Hoi An. His recent trial was brilliant when jumping well and sitting three wide on speed and pulling away from them in fast time. Should fire straight across to the breeze where Harvey can control the race from and give him every chance.

R3- Best Bet: TRIX OF THE TRADE looks a ready made 3yo for his birthday next week. He has looked big and strong at the trials as well as professional which are all good attributes for 2yo debutant. Has sat second pair in both 1000m trials and unleashed a powerful turn of foot to win in good time on both occasions. There isn’t a great deal of speed so think even from seven he could lob a nice spot close to the speed and looks a bit better than his rivals.

R4- YANGTZE RAPIDS brought a lot of intrigue to his WA debut coming out of a 2000m group 3 at his previous start. Had one quiet trial prior to his first up run but was super impressive winning over 1300. Made a wide sustained run and won soft at the finish. His best racing in the east was done on speed so in a race without a lot of tempo they may try and roll forward in this. If he does he can control the race and should still be able to show the same turn of foot.

R5- STAR STORM was pretty good after being slow out last week. Lobbed out the back early before pulling Watson out the saddle when the race slowed and was four deep pressing. Although beaten quite convincingly she was only beaten by a smart one in Miss Vasari who looks a genuine Saturday type. Pike on hopefully ensures a clean getaway and if she can lead and control on the backup she gets every chance.

R6- WILCHINO was too bad to be true first up. Ran last and did nought but pulled up with excuses. In her previous campaign she was 2/2 both in outstanding time and beat four time winner Universal Pleasure in her maiden win. Went back to trials and was given a very quiet one sitting out the back. She’ll be looking to fly straight to the front in this and if she’s at her best it could simply be a matter of how far.

R7- APPROACH gets back to Belmont where he seems to do his best racing. Was 2/3 at Belmont last campaign including a close second to Last Of The Line before getting back to Ascot and while not disgraced wasn’t as effective. Was first up no trial back at Belmont last start in Saturday grade when hitting the line strongly after being chopped out in the straight. Comes back to class three grade here and although one looks a tricky draw he may look to sit a touch closer to avoid traffic.

R8- ARAGAIN was a different horse with the blinkers off last start. Settled really well in running as compared to her previous two starts and was only narrowly beaten by a Pike masterpiece. They cleared out with nearly 6L back to third with a number of those behind her lining up against her again. Looks to get a near identical soft run close to the speed from three and she looks to have a touch of class over her opponents.

    Firstly will they race?

Shame Rebel Heart has drawn 1 in the last, will need something miraculous from there William, based on the track being heavy I assume this will see them well off the fence later in the day.
Defaulting to Alkaline who loves the wet, think he can beat the well backed but rarely a winner Aragain. Will back RH as a saver you never know with W Pike.
