Boy - ive looked at the fields Aust wide - and their are alot of meetings - and i cant see any overs  to get a dollar

Race 8 at Albany - terrible race - the even money fave - shocking run at Pinj - beaten 55 metres 12th of 12th - and it was on the pegs

I took the $7.50 last night about Maddy Maddy - its now into $4.20 - i think its got as good a chance as any

And because the race is so poor - horses with terrible form  - ive also  had something small e/w on Rosa De  Oro at the $41 and $14 ( pays 1 and 2 only ) - its got a flukers hope in this race - with a soft run

Little Vespa flew under the radar tonight.
Backed it straight out but should never have been at those odds.

10/10 drive now that’s a driver doing his form and knowing the horses around him.

Very unjust that Gary Hall Jnr gets off and poor Emily doesn’t get any time reduction. The world can be so unfair

That last race at GP - The Free For All - and it was a fantastic race - a thrilling race - that race should utterly Crush the Sprint Lane debate forever

No sprint lane at GP - so  500 metres into the race  Hall Jnr had to make a decision - he couldnt be brain dead - he couldnt have a sprint lane bail him out - he had to make a decision - and he elected to come off the fence - and his horse ran an outstanding race - given the sectional qtrs

So we got an action packed ( 2 28 qtrs - 2nd last half of the mile  - and a 27 sec qtr up the back ) race - very entertaining - with an exciting finish - 3 way go to the line - and a 100-1 pop nails them on the line

You contrast that - if there was a sprint lane - well Junior doesnt  then have to make a decision - he sits behind the leader - Warwick goes as slow as possible in front - we all go to sleep for the next 2 minutes - they ring a cow bell at the top of the straight to wake us up - and we see a 200 metre dash - with something (leader or behind leader ) dashing home in 26 sec

How many times you see that Aust wide with sprint lane racing . And i go back to Bunbury - the 1st 1 mil inter dom - 2nd round of heats - they didnt have a sprint lane ( for consistency ) and you had one of the most exciting nights ever of pacing - not 1 leader won  -  winners they were coming from everywhere - yet the Bunbury committee after witnessing that exciting nights pacing dont have the foresight to axe their sprint lane . The proof is in the pudding - they didnt have a sprint lane that night - and they had fantastic racing

Marko Chicago Bull has won 65 races in his career.
Of those 65 wins 63 have been at GP and roughly 55 wins have been from in front or outside the leader. What does that tell you about the horses racing style, last night was nothing out of the ordinary except he didn’t win.
As far as sprint lanes are concerned your assumption of walking and sprinting home is definitely nothing new to GP. It has been happening at GP for the past 35 years and that is why punters, owners and spectators have left in droves.
Your assumption that a sprint lane on a 800 mtr track creates a sprint home is incorrect. Typically if the horse in the breeze is good enough it will put enough pressure on during the race so the leader folds before entering the straight thus impeding the run of the following horse. This also opens up the field and brings the backmarkers into the race.
If you want a great example of what a sprint Lane could do for GP just have a look at this years Pacing Cup result. Horse pushes up along inside and knocks them all off (even the caller didn’t see it).
Punters now like to bet novelties so if you wanted to increase returns on novelties at GP you would put a sprint Lane in. I could not think of a better track in Aust for a sprint Lane to add some much needed interest.
As far as your borefest 1000 plus metre tracks I totally agree but don’t get the size of the track and sprint lanes confused with reasons for boring racing.

What emily did cost there connections a win in the pacing cup, should have got 3-6 months

What penalty should Callan have got for knocking over Colin Brown?

He should have got 3 months for knocking someone over to get an illegal run. Old hubby couldn’t handle the missus winning the cup so knocked someone over to beat her.

Boy there are a few wowsers on this site who want to hang Callan

I mean Curmudgeon wanted the relegation rule brought into action for the race - which is ridiculous

I was genuinely pleased and happy for the bloke when he won the race - he had a narrow tight gap to navigate  through - and the big point is Colin Browns horse was beaten at the time - Callans fine and penalty for mine was on the harsher side of things

As for Junior winning his appeal - i read alot of appeals over East - and plenty of them get off - and at the appeal they go into it in great detail

I thought the stewards got it spot on re E Sauvalko 21 days - they said  they aernt certain it had any affect at all on the result - however they also said they cant be sure it didnt - so 21 days is a fair penalty- for a 450k race and a huge difference between 1st and 2nd prizemoney - and dont forget the punters of course

Yet again 90% of the posts on this topic  are based on - which camp your in - and who you are a mate with

I think the  officialism/ Stewards - have got it basically perfectly correct and fair

Fair dinkum Marko whether the horse was beaten or not is irrelevant Colin Brown's horse was lucky to stay on its feet. What happens if it falls and fortunately in this case there werent too many horses behind it that would have gone down as well.

I have a share in Miracle Moose and I am disappointed but **** happens Emily will cop the punishment and learn from it.

Please dont call me a wowser. I havent met Emily and I dont know Callan. I dont know how you got involved Marko I was simply asking AbbysAce his thoughts on Callan's suspension considering he thinks Emily should have got 3 - 6 months.

And please dont bring up the call of the race I was at work over here in Melbourne listening on the radio and you guessed it another broken radio after the confirmation of the result

Yeah - and your obviously - in the Gary Hall Jnr hate camp - alot of bitterness/envy/jealousy in your posts towards him - fair dinkum

And how good was Jnrs drive in the big 100k race with that Mike Reed 2nd stringer - outstanding - and i dont think either of those 2 Reed fillies will end up in the best 4-5 horses to come out of that race long term

But Junior got them home in the big 100k race - and that is all that matters at the moment

Gary Hall Jnr-Chris Alford  -Greg Sugars- Robbie Morris -Pete McMullen - and Daylight to the rest - or could i be rude enough to say - you can forget the rest .

General: An inquiry was conducted into the reasons for BETWEEN TWO
THORNS (A DeCampo) breaking gait in the front straight on the final
occasion. Evidence was taken from Drivers A. De Campo and G. Hall Jnr
(CABSAV). Driver G. Hall Jnr pleaded guilty to a charge of causing
interference under HR163(1)(a)(iii), with the particulars being that he
allowed CABSAV to shift down the track approaching the front straight on
the final occasion causing BETWEEN TWO THORNS to be tightened with
contact being made to its off foreleg resulting in its breaking gait.
Driver G. Hall Jnr subsequently had his licence to drive in races
suspended for a period of 18 days from midnight the 25th of February
2022 to midnight the 15th of March 2022. When assessing penalty Stewards
took into account his guilty plea, the degree of carelessness being at
mid-level, the degree of interference being mid to high level, his prior
overall good record under the rule and that this was a Group 1 event
    where increased tariffs are applicable.

Glad the breeze won because the leader and leaders back were stablemates and it started to drop in his lap.His effort to get off definitely worthy of six weeks in a group1 no respect for his horse or others

How many warnings constitutes a good record? lol. Hall had EIGHT warnings and 1 fine from July to the start of November for causing interference and that doesn't count the instances he wasn't picked up. I should start tallying this **** again.
