Thank you JayJay that is how to drive from the breeze with a sprint lane.
Couldn’t have planned it any better.

I just created a thread for this before I saw your post sorry Jayjay. However, I feel it needs two mentions. Ban him for life.

Mate - you and your sprint lanes

You only have to look at the Ballarat club in Victoria

I think it would be fair to say that Ballarat - is the strongest area re harness racing people  in Victoria - allways had top horse people - eg Emma Stewart is based in that area - its also the strongest club in Vic with the richest country/provincial cup at 125k

And they have a beautiful big track - exactly 1000 metres - and to their credit they have resisted every attempt to bring in a sprint lane

But for that to happen - you need a strong committee - and a knowledgeable and intelligent president - i think Holloway who trained horses was president for a fair period

Not some weak kneed mob - who cave in and say - oh sprint lanes are the flavour of the month - we better bring one in- like one sheep goes through a farm gate - and then all the other dills will  follow  - it will solve all our problems - and the punters have to get a run for their money you know  - hah

Ballarat is the proof in the pudding - historically allways  a  great harness racing area - beautiful big spacious 1000 metre track - no sprint lane - and arguably the best  harness racing in Aust - and of course with the richest country/regional cup in Aust

    I don’t think that’s because they don’t have a sprint lane Chariots.

No white towel they will both say Ballarat's turnover would be even better with a sprint lane.

If Jason Lee had tried that in any other jurisdiction in the world he would have been DQ'd from the race ....which is the appropriate penalty...and fined heavily personally...again appropriate. How would you feel if you owned Sundons Courage which was deliberately knocked out of the event & could easily have had it's racing life ended. That was disgraceful & the incentive to barge off the pegs into legs must be removed altogether.

As for Marko & Chariots lighter than helium non sprint lane arguments......as my old man used to say.....you can't educate a mug.

    :))

G.M.T.C. Remember Five representative from RWWA came up for Meeting Three to KBRC two to GMTC to discuss concerns in industry what was mentioned GMTC was a leading club regards T/O.

Found the humour the club had laid out the country hospitality sandwichs chicken pieces sausage rolls pies etc prior to meeting at 6.30 No we are fine thanks ate on the plane.

The three headed to the racecourse for KBRC meeting started 7pm. They arrived back at 8 15.

    At the time GMTC discussion
    was based on extra unplaced
money being a must to encourage extra teams to the Gold Fields

    .
    .
Then Excuse me from the back of the room one of the RWWA representatives who had been at KBRC
    .

Said I am sorry going to have to wind this meeting up Barry because just been in touch with Rydges they need us to get there no later then 8.45 to place our meal orders.

Not sure what you are on about Dockers. All of the major provincial tracks in WA have sprint lanes and before and after Pinjarra has always had the best turnover.
  • freodockersfreodockers    2,667 posts
I’m not on about anything Chariots.
You and your mate started the argument that sprint lanes decrease turnover, white flags etc.
So all the major provincial tracks in WA now have sprint lanes but hang on GP doesn’t.
    Well that really makes sense.

I suppose now your going to tell me it’s the premier track in WA for excitement and interest
    NOT !!!!

I never said anything of a sort Dockers I just pointed out the fact that Ballarat has the best turnover in Victoria sprint lane or no sprint lane. It is not a big issue to me as I adapt to whatever racing conditions are in place. I am not going to start a campaign to get rid of sprint lanes.

Trying to be a bit objective and not buying into the sprint lane/no sprint lane argument, I suspect turnover is related to lots of things like location, allocated race dates/slots, daytime/nighttime,  class of horse, size of track, stakemoney on offer etc. For the record, I'm no fan of them but it's not a life or death issue to me, placing horses is a far more important factor, where ever that may be.

Changed my penalty that   should be three months penalty for Jason Lee absolute disgrace which  should never have happened:.Starting to be a regular occurance in the big races no  respect for the animals---- Unavoidable accidents do happen  even the huge number of lock wheels-- Only needs a  horse to brake  a leg  from a demo derby drive.which would be aired see how much air time the hocking incident in Tas. got.

Jason Lee, driver of Im Ready Jet, pleaded not guilty to a charge
under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that at approximately the 300m he permitted
Im Ready Jet to shift out when not clear of Sundons Courage which
contributed to the interference suffered by that runner when Sundons
Courage was contacted by Im Ready Jet and Temporale NZ resulting in
Sundons Courage being severely checked and breaking gait and Just
Believe, Margaret Ruth and Rules Dont Apply being checked.

Daryl Douglas, driver of Temporale NZ, reserved his plea to a charge
issued under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that after passing the 300m and Im
Ready Jet commencing to shift out he directed Temporale NZ in and
continued to do so which resulted in Temporale NZ failing to maintain a
full three wide position which contributed to the interference suffered
by Sundons Courage when Sundons Courage was contacted by Im Ready Jet
and Temporale NZ resulting in Sundons Courage being severely checked and
breaking gait and Just Believe, Margaret Ruth and Rules Dont Apply
    being checked.
