The Championships day 2, Randwick 9.04.2022

East Coast Racing
Wont bother about track conditions more of the same, rail is out 4m Saturday the surface has held up well under a staggering amount of rain so far, should do so again hopefully.
Queen Elizabeth is the feature and just a lazy 4 mill in prizemoney.
Small but elite field(give or take 1 or 2) has accepted..

Anamoe
Dalasan
Duais
I'm Thunderstruck
Montefilia
Mount Popa(Pikey on I assume)
Think It Over
Vèrry Elleegant
Zaaki

Who wins?
Think It Over, Mount Popa, Dalasan(who ran a huge race last year I concede)and I'm Thunderstruck who is untried past a mile are 4 who cannot imo.

I'm looking forward to the Oaks just as much, William is a huge chance of nabbing his first group 1 in Sydney on Gypsy Goddess as she will relish 2400 and was just getting warm over the shortened 1850m race at Newy.
Just wins imo if she handles the likely very heavy ground.

Sydney Cup..looks a lottery? Maybe so..all but the toppie have 51.5 to 50kgs..I will have to do a fair bit of study to jag the right one but one of Waller's will win it again imo.
I will likely steer away from the favoured one Crystal Pegasus, jumped off last start and up in trip and heavy ground this weekend so I cant jump back on.

It sucks, must be fkd living with it atm.
Might even make a call on the meeting tomorrow if there is significant more hitting the track today, it ain't gonna dry out at all in 24 hours and more rain is or was forecast anyway..

Time to bring out the "super soppers", the helicopters, the covers and put them to work.

The sun is out! I can see it shining on Randwick as I type this.

However I can see clouds rolling in across the harbour...

John Sargent is a chance of an upset of sorts in the Oaks too, so much depends on how the relative youngsters handle the track.I recall the day fondly when I was on Gust Of Wind, she gave them a fair beating including a handy one in Winx way back when..

Pink Ivory and Gin Martini a real roughie according to the bookies deserve a watch at least..a better jump by the latter and I don't think there is $34 differential between the two of his put it that way..and Jmac is affecting the price of PI she maybe is a bit short.

Sydney Cup I have settled on Sheraz and the queen's horse, Chalk Stream. They might just get this one up for the old girl!
My maddie to run a drum is Le Baol but nearly every horse can figure..a couple i'll knock are the toppie and Luncies who I think might flop at the trip and also i'm not sure on Stockman @3200 on a bog, he is the class horse at the weights on form though.

Interesting the SMH reports this morning that the club is considering using helicopters if necessary later today

Listened to John Sargent during the week and checked out Pink Ivory. Excuses last start the way it was run. Extra 550m tomorrow.
Previous start to that smashed them.
Read during the week he doesn`t usually chase JMac. But Jmac is on tomorrow.
Sargent is a master at distance training....I`m on.

Doing some in depth form analysis on this years ATC Oaks. Haha (not really)
But I stumbled across this stat on my already declared selection.
Pink Ivory raced in the Vinery in a “sit and sprint” and finished 5th. She romped in her previous start in a true run test.
    Her times in both races.
    Newcastle 1880m time 1.56.16 1st HEAVY 8
    Newcastle 1850m time 1.58.11. 5th SOFT 6

2 secs slower on a better track and 30m shorter.
This horse wants a staying test and an extra 550m on a heavy track maybe the difference.

Great to see their racing today
I'll be backing PI too mate and still gotta have something on Pikey's, plus a small spec on Sarge's big roughie so maybe Tommy 3 bets ..bloody hell.

Must mention I think Belluci Babe is a bet to nothing in the last at Randwick.

As for the big race I think the ground may not suit Zaaki too well and Anamoe ran much much slower time than Montefilia so their off my list with the mares to fight it out and Verry Elleegant to prevail.
The other two girls look dangerous but Montefilia is a bit in and out imo Duais obviously is flying.
  • detonatordetonator    4,382 posts
Listened to Bowman during the week and he was asked who his hardest to beat was ?
    He said one word…..Zaaki.
  • ThunderstruckThunderstruck    7,696 posts
Love the horse as you know and he has soft form, is a doubt on a heavy 10 i think is the trainers opinion too, just think on recent form and with runs over wet ground the mares could be the ones..if Zaaki wins this test then he is the best imo.
Will say I don't trust Montefilia after the one knock off run, Duais will be big and VE can bounce she is a champ!

Glad I stuck with the 3 bets Sargent's roughie smoked his favoured runner ran a race!
    Damn you D Lane!

    Think that was Detonator mate.
For mine he is a length off genuine group 1 class and not even a muddie I guess the ride qon the day, some roughish results there today..good horses were soundly beaten in it and by a big margin.

Wary of this last one I spruiked the confidence is dented a bit now.

Agree on racing the filly on a bog in Sydney ride was shithouse tho, he can be a dh Mci'llslaughterit..

Snowden team is on fire winning everywhere today.

Pikey jagged a good bonus in the QE didn't see what they paid down to 9th but 19.5k for running third on Mount Popa would be a pleasant extra chunk of dosh he wouldn't have really expected.
