    1 down...
I did say shortly after the CC that Durston wouldn't win the big one..doesn't matter how your right..haha.

Read an article where Nick Williams was interviewed and a discussion was had about northern hemisphere 3 yo's, him and his old man have had some joy and failure as we know and it was very interesting reading.
Basically thinks that 1.DL is the best horse in the race 2.Though he thinks it can still win is of the opinion it has too much weight based on what previous winners and failures had(Bondi Beach one of theirs had 53)and lastly if it does win it will nearly spell the end of that age horse coming out to Australia due to them being weighted out of the race.
Nearly sold on putting my tenner @$101 on it thanks Nicky boy ;)

Does anyone else find it remarkable that the ambassador for the VRC Spring Carnival will be riding at Rosehill Gardens on Derby Day?
  • ThunderstruckThunderstruck    7,696 posts
Maybe..if I knew who that person was lol
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,295 posts
jocks have come from far and wide to ride in that race g-mac...and who can blame them, what would the win be worth...half a million?
  • ThunderstruckThunderstruck    7,696 posts
Race is worth 10mil Falc winners share barely just over half, still 250K hardly to be sneezed at.
BTW is it Jamie Kah? Assume so..probs stinging from missing out on nearly 400 grand for Giga Kick.

    Another one bites the dust.
Loft is OUT..these overseas horses aren't very sound seemingly, that's two of Sokloski and co's(think he was in this not 100% sure tho)that have missed out.*unless Interpretation flukes the win tomorrow.

Apparently so many ppl have backed it and Deauville Legend at betr with their $101 odds, they have wimped out and reduced the odds to $10 those two but now one..all bets on Loft now go into the betr kick.

Heavy 10 at MV ffs I don't know what Flemington will be like tomorrow but isn't looking ideal based on this :(
What a joke the weather over east is .......
Probably be a heavy 22 at Rosehill cbf even looking.. The T20 tonight suspended atm due to the weather too.

Yeh I was just ranting Tony lol A RARE occurrence that track rating for Sydney..I just wish it would pissoff and I don't have to live amongst it, just ruins racing/punting.
Plus my spec MC horse doesn't love it very wet under foot..so I'm shirty about that too haha

Track might end up alright who knows..couple have been specked Duais has firmed yet a query on heavy, Montefilia has heavy form but is still hit and miss and both these mares have 55.5 by the way.
The one I reckon is a touch of overs who lost some cred and drifted after the CC is Smokin Romans.$26 with 51 or so and good wet form he is a live chance of.a minor upset imo.
:P Betr have now wound in 5 horses to $10 which is actually unders on at least a couple of them lol The 2 mares i mentioned plus Gold Trip and Without A Fight join Deauville Legend as "backed" commodities.

She might scratched from today, I reckon she might be a query at the trip based on the Sydney Cup run?..soft ground may help idk.
The Archer has been decimated with scratchings and yet it is for big money, can understand a couple who now don't need to run but half the bloody field is out.

My moaning worked at least, the Valley being a 10 had me worried for today but Flemington is good for drying and handling precipitation.

I had one bet only today and that was Serpentine each way and a very courageous effort. Not sure about 3200 on what could be a heavy. Form not great in UK on either but will have a small each way interest in the Cup

On paper I agree and yet it throws up weird results often..on par with the concrete jungle :-O
Rosehill also quirky has been much more predictable.
Sheeza Belter, I Am Me etc etc...
Forgot to mention Ellsberg at the 'Hill which I also backed.

And to prove my theory another cat wins the last at fubarFlem

No doubt P.C. you put a lot time _effort into stats but how they have changed the layout of the spring carnival has destroyed the true identity of days gone by

Always have known it as The L.K.S. MacKinnon .Race run on the Saturday prior to Melb Cup as horses last gallop prior to cup roughly 14 horses have won L K S & Cup same year but once you go through the name changes .

Rogan Josh won the L K.S. on Saturday Bart then galloped him on the Monday to take the edge of him for the 3200m.
Now they wrap-up in cotton wool the last week prior to the cup

horses are not the only creatures wrapped in cotton wool these days, stg. the "creatures" have 2 legs, and ages range from birth until @ 40.
