Yeah definitely a novelty the FRL bets but they seldom hit. Certainly on my records they were few and far between!
Have lobbed into my players this week already.
Have conference commitments this week for work so will keep it brief for interest sake. Might be the way forward as not sure there are too many tuning in to read!
Spending 30 units as usual
Saving Rory and Rahm this week. They are way ahead of the rest of the field and have backed them at 8 and 8.5. Spending 10 to collect 31 units. Happy to get money back if they salute.
The main outrights as follows
Scheffler 18 Hovland 23 Young 29 Morikawa 36 Fowler 86
Rory his typical consistent self, shooting -5 and being only 1 off the lead. Hovland is also there at -4 after a fairly good round where he gained around the green and on the green, which is unusual for him. A positive sign and if he continues these gains he will be right there at the end.
Rahm an ok -2, in striking distance and had a few lip outs throughout. Collin and Scheffler both at -1 and E, again in striking distance in this no cut event.
Fowler was disappointing up to his old tricks again, finishing at +3, while Cam Young was all over the place and finished at +2.
Expecting a birdie fest on day 2 if the conditions become more benign. Some good betting numbers out there given it's a no cut event so guys at even are well on it still.
Well Scheffler was who o was alluding to being great odds after round 1. He was $41 after round 1 and in a no cut, limited field event he could always come out breathing fire.
Well I'm back albeit i only had a h2h "booster" for my rugby league and Tennis multi, I took Rory v Tom Kim..he was too classy for the Korean on the back 9 shooting a sublime 5 under 30 after being scratchy on the front and 1 or 2 shots behind.
Looks like your savers are the go at this stage H, Rahm shot a sizzling 62..and dropped a shot on the last hole too I think. He leads at -11 with Kitayama and Rory is stalking 2 back..a stack are on -7 maybe someone charges from there but I'd be happy with my lot if I had win bets on the two top guns. Wise, Davis and Kit won't be able to hold them out and if forced to choose i reckon from here Rory wins it.
Good win by Rory he shot a terriffic final round until the last 2 holes where he went bogey bogey going from a comfortable 3 shot lead to a single shot victory, Kit had a 22 footer for bird to put the pressure on but no cigar, Rory only had to 2.putt from 8 feet and did lol..nevertheless well done they don't payout on by how many. I backed him at halfway when he was 2 behind and with some surefire multi boosters I got on at $5.43.
Once I figured Northam was improbable I said stuff this or worse and also put more on with Betr at 2.50. Had a bonus bet saver on Rahm too but once again he falters..after shooting a sizzling 62 just plods the last 2 days shooting a meagre 3 under for his last 36 holes. Hasn't won again since that day he scraped in by a shot 5 odd months ago?
Rory saves the day for me and gets me.money back for his back to back CJ Cup win. If I had played all 7 players on the arbitrage it came out to be about 1.89 odds, so I'm not to fussed. He faulted in the last two holes but could afford to as you have said above.
He now moves to number 1 in the world again.
As for Rahm, he got a few unlucky breaks and that set him off. He was co leader at one point but couldn't score down the stretch..
He was coming off a dominant win at the Spanish Open a few weeks ago. However wins on the PGA tour have been few and far between in the last 18 months or so, with a win in the Mexican Open last season.
On to Butterfield Bermuda this week with Aussie Lucas Herbert defending. Last year it was torrential rain and winds, hopefully it's a bit nicer this time around.
Once I figured Northam was improbable I said stuff this or worse and also put more on with Betr at 2.50.
Does Betr do golf? I couldn't find any markets before the tournament, was hoping for some bonuses.
Don't think there were any bonuses for golf H(maybe because no big event anytime soon?)but i wasn't looking real closely, i just went to the relevant market and put the 2 bets on..the price was slightly betr than Tabtouch too(from memory they were 2.25).
Yep, nothing there at the moment.Check later tonight when Tabtouch put their markets up..not sure you will find an edge in price H but no harm at all in looking..plus you can throw $10 on the MC winner(I'm backing Deauville Legend so it gets beat lol)
They offer 1 x sports boost but i didn't see that option for my bet on Rory so its maybe not available on golf.
The Bermuda Championship is this week. It's another stop on the tour at this time of year when the most sickos of golf sickos still watch and punt on the event where there isn't a top 50 player on the world playing. As the song by Icona Pop says, I don't care, I love it.
There are 8 courses in Bermuda, which is one every 6000 residents. It plays about 6800 yards which is the second shortest course on tour. But this isn't a walk in the park. The weather here plays a significant role and last year was no exception, with players sheltering under umbrellas in up to 20 mile an hour winds. Aussie Lucas Herbert got the job done as many of the last 5 winners have, with the putter. This makes sense given a shorter course, where scoring will be had on the greens by those that sink the most putts.
Herbert isn't defending. Not sure why, it may have something to do with the schedule in Australia upcoming. It might be a terrible field, but there is still a winner to be found and I've got into the weeds for this one. It is these weeks where you can make your bank for the new year and have a good crack.
Saved on Rahm and Rory last week and that proved to work out. Only got money back, but it's way better than an outright loss when the arbitrage would have been too low backing 7 golfers. This week is different with prices allowing to save on a few players but also have a very good collect backing 6 guys. As follows
Saving on a couple of guys that I think will struggle to win but I would kick myself if o didn't at least have a saver on. While Denny McCarthy is statistically a great putter, he has been horrible of late, and at $13 favorite I will not have a bar of it. If he wins so be it. But I won't be on.
I've saved on a couple of Euro blokes, Thomas Detry $20 and Adrian Meronk $31. Playing 2.5 units on these guys to return 27.4 units, they are two that are long enough to save on who can both figure in the finish, even though I don't really like them at the price.
Now for the real plays. Playing the following 7 guys for 20 units outlay, to return 145 units. Even though I'm playing 7 guys, the arbitrage price is still excellent at around $7.25
Justin Lower $29 Stephen Jaeger $31 Will Gordon $56 Robbie Shelton $56 Chesson Hadley $76 Kevin Yu $76 Ben Taylor $111
A lot of relatively unknown players here. There's a mix of good around the green, putters and off the tee metrics from blokes playing well.on the Korn Ferry tour and in the early parts of the new season.
Overall playing 22.5 units this week to collect either 27.4 or 145 back. Let's get it done in Bermuda!
The new mob were very slow putting up a market maybe only did so earlier today, a quick glance shows their odds are alright and more than favourable on some i.e Rai is $26 Tabtouch he is only 18 bucks enhanced. No boost or enhanced offer though.
No bet for me i barely know a name at all, as you eluded to H its the B graders..reckon Denny Crane is a chance so never say never to some weekend in the run betting by me.
Fairly well placed after two rounds, with all players of mine making the cut except Stephen Jaeger and Adrian Meronk. Kicking myself with Meronk, didn't like him really and should have followed my gut
Best are Robbie Shelton and Kevin Yu at -13 and -12, not far off the leaders at -14. Shelton bogied the last to give up the lead.
The rest are at -12, -11, -10, -9, -8 and -7, so have all scores covered haha.
Looking forward to a good weekend of low scores again.
Well going into round 4 I have two hope, Kevin Yu 2 shots back and Thomas Detry is 4 shots back. I a field like this of non winners, anything can and will happen. Should be good viewing, Go Kevin!
Seamus Power holds on in Bermuda after doing his very best to throw it away late!
Detry posted a score of -18 which didn't look enough with Power at -21 with 6 holes to play and also Ben Griffen at -22
In the last 6 holes, Power plays them in +2 with a bogey at the last. Even more capitulate was Griffen, carding 4 bogies and a double in 5 straight holes to drop 6 shots in the last 8 holes and fall out of contention.
Kevin Yu could only manage -1 for the day finishing on -17 and Power with a 2 shot lead going into the last, tapped in for bogey to win by a shot.
Just shows you aren't dead until the final putt. On saying that, no collect this week!
At the half way mark and Russel Henley has shot away with a pair of 63s to be 3 shots clear of the rest of the field, lead by Will Gordon :-w and Sam Ryder at -13
The best of my bunch is Maverick McNealy who is a my -9 and then Harris English, Hovland and Morikawa at -8
Well looks like a loss this week with Russell Henley streeting the field at the moment, 6 shots clear of Will Gordon and the rest of the pack. Barring an absolute meltdown, it's his to lose.
Hovland my best chance and he is 9 back. Very disappointed with my selections this week, in saying that it would have been tough to find Henley this week.
The tour heads to Houston for the Cadence Houston Open this week, with a fairly nice field to contend, including Scheffler and Burns at the top of the market.
The stas point to a player with elite putting skills and is rated heavily this way with SG total.
Not playing it safe this week. No Scheffler, Burns or Wise for me, who are at the top of the market. Scottie is at a prohibitive $6.50 and while he finished like a Shinkansen last start, Im not being sucked into this.
Here are the tips this week in market order
Hideki $26
Montgomery $26
McNealy $29
McCarthy $36
Nesmith $56
Burmester $67
Mullinax $201
All fairly healthy prices this week. 22.5 units out for these blokes will gross you back approximately 128 units

4 units at $4
Update +163.7 (34 alive)
Must be the smallest bloke on tour. Yes early days, a couple of mine from last few weeks doing well early in Will Gordon and Garrick Higgo
The best of my bunch is Maverick McNealy who is a my -9 and then Harris English, Hovland and Morikawa at -8
Hoge, Finau and Long all missed the cut for me.
Hovland my best chance and he is 9 back. Very disappointed with my selections this week, in saying that it would have been tough to find Henley this week.
I also forgot that this cashed however he was T10 with 9 other blokes, resulting in a third of the divvy returned

My best is my roughest, Mullinax at -6 with 5 holes to go in round 2. Needs a few birds coming in to be within striking distance.
