    I'll do Geelong's for them......

    1, 2 and 3.
Usurping both their Premiership win and Jeremy Cameron not breaking down this year, is what happened in trade week. Somehow, in this very equalised, some say socialist environment, of trimming up the champs and giving a leg up to the vanquished, Geelong end up with 3 classy players who were ALL previously first round draft picks in Bowes, Henry and Tanner PLUS pick 7 in this years draft and only lose a bit of a fringe player???? How does that work other than the bleeding obvious realisation that Gold Coast are a total basket case who have to pay their players way overs to convince them to stay at the joint, and then need to offload any who can play due to salary cap pressures.

Gold Coast will never ever succeed as a franchise, ever, and the sooner they and GWS and North are wrapped up in a big warm blanket and transported south to Hobart and rebranded as Tassie Apples or devils or whatever, teh better. A 16 team comp, less costs, less dilution of talent and Gils your Uncle. Done. You know it makes sense.

I had to look up what “usurping” meant.
I will now add that to my “go to” scrabble memory bank when I pick up 2 letter U’s. Normally that is not a great position to be in.
But agree with your sentiments Jay Jay.
In the words of Peter Garrett…” The rich get richer and the poor get the picture”
Geelong might struggle next year though. To win the big one that is. No Selwood and no hunger might see them vulnerable. Very hard to go back to back.

    West Coast

    1. Junior Rioli leaving
    2. JK going out in the way that we'd like all champions go out
    3. The sacking of the leagues #235th defender Mr Nelson

I picked the above as we need new players coming through...That is space for 3 new players in the team next year

Having lived in Sydney - GWS was just beyond stupid - and the Gold Coast - any team of any sport has been a disaster their

But you can blame Demetriou - paid $1 million dollar annual salary - to rugby league and Union players - Hunt and Folau - what a waste and utter madness

And at the same time im pretty sure - they cut - reduced the money paid to WAFL clubs ( who were basically surving on the help of volunters ) for youngsters who were drafted from their club - i think it was cut from 40k to 30k

I will give the AFL  credit re the rule changes - i think accross the board - games are now much better to watch - more goals and more attacking play - rather than that slow motion stuff

So i do presently like watching and enjoy watching AFL again

    Ok then

Geelong winning the Premiership ( i like the Cats and Kangaroos- i have stated that previously  )

Josh Kennedy kicking 8 goals in his final game

AFL in general - as i said i like and enjoy watching it again - the coaches feucked the game - mauling rugby scrums - and the AFL have done a pretty damm good job with rule changes to make it a very enjoyable game to watch again - where as 2-3 years ago it was just about unwatchable

You do realise there are more AFL “goal posts” than rugby league “uprights” on both the Gold Coast and in Greater Western Sydney at school level? Sometimes what you think you know is actually not the case. AFL has blown NRL out of the water at the grass roots levels in their own back yard. V’Landy’s even concedes that. It’s about generational participation and the AFL wins

AFL is irrelevant in Sydney - and it will allways be the ugly red headed cousin of Union and League

And to  have 2 teams their is utter madness

Melbourne Storm have been an absolute powerhouse in Vic - but the Rugby League aernt stupid enough to contemplate having 2 teams their

    Dockers:

    1. David Mundy's retirement after a stellar career.
    2. Steady improvement in overall performance
    3. Andrew Brayshaw's emergence as a genuine consistent A grade midfielder.

    Brisbane:

    1. Keidean Coleman's emergence as a top class player

    2. Berry and McLuggage stamping themselves of games.

    3. Lachie Neale's clean one touch control of an ill shaped ball.

Was going to add winning a couple of finals when no one expected it but that would be indulgent.

To be fair, they have picks 2 and 3 who they can develop in readiness for next years Premiers to steal for 2024, and somehow their next picks are 40, 43 and 59. Just terrific work from their footy department I feel, absolutely nailed the trade period, Rivaling Gold Coast and GWS in providing belly laughs for the other clubs, closely followed by St Kilda's stirling late charge for the much sought after Farr Cup.

picks 2 and 3 from two number one picks... really good trading that (albeit one of those number one's was a prat apparently and no one liked him...).

the saving grace... we'll get another number 1 pick next year!
    :))

Rory Lobb - today - " I felt on the outer at times - its been a year and a half ive wanted out- so it was good to get it finally done "

Id be interested in Chariots assessment ( mainly because he is the only one on this forum who played AFL to a reasonable standard ) but Gilga is a Freo supporter so he can give his 4 bobs worth as well

But how would they assess Lobbs performance at Fremantle - is he a loss - did they adequate compensation etc

My view - hes got the talent - but he could be alot better - i was a huge Cam Mooney fan at Geelong - because every contest he gave absolute everything - and i can remember Mick Malthouse back in his CH 10 special comment days - calling a Geel game - and he said quote - id love to coach a team of 22 Cam Mooneys - now that is a big rap - purely because of the guys effort - and that is why Cam Mooney was one of my favourites

Being an old Swan Districts player I should be in Lobb's corner but he has not really lived up to expectations in my opinion. For his sake reuniting with his partner in Melbourne may rekindle his career but in what he has produced over the last 2 seasons for the money he was on he is not a great loss.
