This away series could be the biggest flogging of Aust sincet he 4-0 demolition in a 4 test series in South Africa - it was either 1967 or1968 . I actually had  the ABC Cricket book or guide for that series - they use to print a nice colour booklet for each tour - with all the players - their career stats- and for each test - there were a couple of spare/blanks pages so you could fil;lin the scores for all 4 innings 

But South Africa had Graeme Pollock- Barry Richards - Eddie Barlow - and Aust got walloped in every test 

Apparently Graeme Pollock hit Mallet for about 5 sixes in 3-4 overs - thats probably why Packer thought Mallet was hopeless and didnt want him in the World Series stuff

I will say one thing Chariots - if i was based in Kalgoorlie - and say i was the honorary - volunteer secretary /treasurer of the Trotting Club

I would within 12-18 mths have harness racing back at Kal - and to use a harness racing term - i would do it on my ear 

When i say id get the Trots back - it would be only 2 meetings a year - back to back Frid nights heats of theCup  and other restricted races and the finals on the 2nd Frid - it would cost RWWA about 150k -200k  exactly like it costs Harness Racing NSW  for the 2 TAB Meetings ( 4 meetings in total ) for both Broken Hill and Griffith - who have both got the same tyranny of distance problem as Kal 

So the 1st thing i do - is i simply pick up the phone and ring both B/Hill and Griffith Trots clubs and ask how does the funding work for your 2 TAB meetings with Harness racing NSW

The 2nd thing - you have to apply pressure to RWWA -put the media blow torch on them - now that wouldnt be hard at all - because you are only after 150- 200k a year - so they would probably say -look we will give it to them- because we are copping some bad press 

How i would do that - id go straight to Fred Kersley - hed have very fond memories of Kal- tell him we want to resurrect the rich history of Kal Trots with 2 TAB Meetings a year - Fred would be only too happy to help - and FRK has got a sharp tongue at times and is a heavy hitter . Greg Bond would also have some very favorable things to say about Kal Trots 

Like i say - on my ear -id have 2 TAB meetings back at Kal within 12-18 mths - but that is not going to happen - because no body up their can be bothered doing it

Boy - i cant stand smart aarses - absolutely detest smart aarses - and unfortunately this forum there is plenty of them

I learnt at a reasonably young age that smart aarses are no good whatsover - many many years ago irrespective of qualifications - shocking unemployment in WA- late 70s - so to get a dollar - i actually stacked bricks at Midland Brick for about 4 weeks - 6am to 2pm in 100 degree heat - and you only got paid for what bricks you stacked - horrendously hard work

Never forget the 1st day - did the medical- along with about 3-4 others - and the foreman bloke about 45 to  50 in a very stern voice - he pointed to the gate - and he said - see that gate their - any shiit stirrers - any smart aarses - any yappers - you are straight out that gate - you will be terminated on the spot - we dont tolerate them - your here to work 

So i learnt at a reasonably young age - that smart aarses are no good whatsover - and no use to anybody - and You Mate would be straight out that Gate

Have to love the Indians. After getting flogged inside 3 days Australia asked if they could use the pitch for centre wicket practice. BCCI said no problem. Turn up the next day and the ground staff are watering the centre wicket and the practice nets. Elite shithousery  :)

No - you had a fork lift driver ( thus you were breathing in all those fumes) constantly  buzzing around you like a bee - continually on the look out for completed - secured - colour co-ordinated stacks -which you had finished - which he then  could move to the designated area

But as far as life experiences go - thats the best 4 weeks i spent anywhere - it made me a very good  pro punter straight after it - and a very good punter to this day - simply because i saw 1st hand how hard some people had to work every single day -to pick up that pay packet each week - where as  quite a few others - literally - shuffle paper - talk  bullshiit - act like a general smart aarse - drink coffee - and unbelievably are paid for doing that
