How about scrapping this meeting have a look at the crap size feilds for the first 3-4 races on Derby day,and give the trainers and Jockeys a bit of a break, they ain't machines,at some stage they are going to say enough is enough.and look at the crowd sizes.any guess how many will be there tomorrow.
Crowds looked pretty good after watching a couple of replays.. not much else on Good Friday if anything. N like the winners names at Kalgoorlie Just Got Paid, All On Black into Boozeroo.. ha
Continue in this thread for Sat, as others have mentioned having the two meetings in 24hrs has left Derby day very shallow but something has to win them.
Kick of for me R3 No3 Leica Jaguar. Won its first race in forever last start and if it can get even close to that effort again it really should be beating these comfortably. I'd make To Rise Again the danger as it keeps closing off really well but also hasn't won in forever and with just over a 7% win strike rate i'm happy to take it on.
R4 A real throw at the stumps as its done nothing this time up but a few dollars EW Soaring Solo based on its initial campaign.
In the Derby i'm sticking with Playhouse Patron. I don't agree with the whole "swap the runs and he just wins last start" theory as he continues to hit a flat spot and I'm not sure he would have come through the gap. That said he would be running home at the back end of The Jericho the way he is going and the sectionals stack up vs the rest of the day. Im also a bit of the opinion that this might just be one run too many for Another Chino, don't know enough about the fave. Stick fat with the double figure local.
R7 No4 Brooklyn Pier best bet of the day-EW. Loved its first up effort in terms of a kick of point, jump well and use something like maybe Kay May as a bunny to the turn, let rip and see if Magnificent Andy and Stella Vista can chase you down.
Close it out with a little EW spec R9 No7 What About Moi. Good bit of weight relief and fitter, suck along the fence not doing a tap of work and could surprise them.
That's a FFA size field most Friday nights down at The Fun Palace by the Palms and generally 2 more than go around in the last race on the card each week. But that is a shocking field for a Derby and wasn't the winner from over East, so just 6 local combatants? Nothing to see however, carry on.
If the trots are going badly ,How about a Group 2 Derby and 1 scr.. Thin its very embarrassing for W.A racing
Not a big follower anymore of the races, but I had a glance today and thought the same thing about the Derby and more so the Old Comrade. Weaponson $2 coming out of a 72+. Seems Perth Racing struggling big time?
Yes it is a tad sad that the Derby field fell away too . So yes it’s easy to pot the race . Still think I would rather win that than the standardbred version though . Couple of nice sly digs by some pacer posters there . . Thinking I might get a reaction with that said

Massive incentives for the handful of organizations that can afford to buy/breed regular city runners and occasional winners. An this was needed for the top end of town to grow...However it si now being used so they can survive...and those that don't get city winners, seriously cant afford to run horses around out bush
RWWA over the past 6 - 10 years with their race bonuses have shaped the industry beautifully so that it is on track to only need to have 5 or 6 tracks in the state and the rest are picnic tracks....many talked about this way back when, and i think this reality is of the lower level horses not being able to be afford is getting closer.
Animal activists have nothing to worry about RWWA successfully doing what they cant.

Enjoyable when they effectively just all move out of the way!
One more for me today, Buckeye Bullet R7 Ascot has come back a different horse this time in, bit of rain around a concern but having a little EW.
