Maybe United Nations can run well in the Archer Stakes (Hotham)?

Was on pace in the Caulfield Cup, should of been ridden a bit quieter and used the 50kg advantage. If it can get a run in the Melbourne Cup I hooe he is ridden a bit quieter...12th to 14th spot....not on pace...not in the top 6 or 7.
The golf thread is where I'm at these days. Unfortunately I became disillusioned a while back with the nags.

Why disillusioned?
Hot of the UK RP press ******* By David Jennings
Connections would love the Lexus Melbourne Cup to be tomorrow, such is the wellbeing of hot favourite Vauban, who is already reported to be a six-figure loser in Paddy Power's ante-post book.
Willie Mullins' assistant David Casey has been with Vauban every step of the way since leaving Closutton a few weeks ago and he was on board the five-year-old for a racecourse workout at Flemington on Tuesday when he breezed up the straight a few lengths clear of stablemate Absurde.
Mullins has trained the second, third and fourth before, but in the 2022 Triumph Hurdle winner he looks to have his best chance yet of winning a race he described last week as the "biggest in the world that we can win".
????️ 'It's gone the way I wanted'
Vauban is now no bigger than 11-4 to provide Ireland with a fifth victory in the race following on from Vintage Crop (1993), Media Puzzle (2002), Rekindling (2017) and Twilight Payment (2020).
Casey said: "Vauban did a nice piece of work at Flemington. It wasn't anything overly strenuous; it was just to give him a good look around the place really. He would have covered a bit more than a mile. We cantered around and then quickened up once we turned into the straight. I was very happy anyway, and we were happy with Absurde too."
He added: "All their main work is basically done now. It's just a case of keeping them ticking over. Everything has gone the way I wanted so far. Fingers crossed. I'd be happy if the race was tomorrow."
What the bookmakers say ????
Some shrewd punters snapped up 33-1 about Vauban with Paddy Power in April and he has been backed at all rates since, with the firm's traders expecting him to go off at around 2-1 on the day.
Paddy Power spokesperson Paul Binfield said: "Vauban has been extremely popular. He is a six-figure loser and will be a big six-figure loser on the day when we combine ante-post bets on him with the bets we take in the 24 hours before the race.
"It's very possible he will go off even shorter than he is now, given how popular he has been ante-post. We could see him being closer to 2-1 if the level of support holds up."
He added: "We have laid him as big as 33-1 in mid-April and there were plenty more bets struck at 33-1 and 25-1 before we cut him to 14-1 and then 7-1 post-Royal Ascot [after his runaway win in the Copper Horse Handicap]. He was then cut again after winning the Group 3 at Naas as he had qualified for the Melbourne Cup. Vauban will be a big loser for us if he does the business, that's for sure."

I just fell out of love with the whole thing for a few reasons. I keep an eye on days like Saturday and have the very infrequent black booker (ala Bad Wolf Saturday).

Will suss If one of these pubs we're attending in Gero have some going, if so may get involved.
Gold Trip on the drift and I think Soulcombe may have firmed a couple of points into $10 with most corps..not 100% sure I saw $12 though
I'll be backing Vauban as one bet but not my main wager, doing it moreso to try and get it beat :D Of course the o/s form is supreme..it would be Absurd for anyone to back the stablemate imo
