Epsom Day 30/9/2023

East Coast Racing
Quiet day in Mexico due to the grand final(torn who I'd like to see win that match but maybe the Lions in a small upset)but Sydney has the time honoured Epsom.
This made me reminisce about a handy one 30 odd years ago winning 2 plus 2 Doncasters in 90/91, oh yes baby Super Impose.I loved this horse as much arguably as girlfriends of the time :D

Anyway I digress, also at Randwick sees the return of the excitement(and winning)machine Think About It.
He should be fairly wound up with the big target only a fortnight away..who beats him idk if any can.

I usually bang on too much(and already have here to be fair)but I'll try and keep it a bit shorter from now..haha.

R2 Jmac is back! Waterhouse & Bott have 4 runners in the early 2yo feature and he has scored the best of them Lady Camelot, only query is probably overcoming the stablemates to lead but looks smart and trialled super ..

R4 Throwing out a roughie who has his fair share of ability probably won't want a track too hard, Stroke Of Luck.

R5 Tom Kitten who is much better drawn, rocks up at Randwick up in trip to a mile all big ticks = get on.

R6 Have followed Tropical Squall(a Prized Icon youngster)closely this prep and G1 company is a step up again but PI won one at his 4th or 5th start i think. She is a sneaky chance though leading could be a query, i would love to see them take a sit(probably unlikely).Another at value who will improve drawn much better is Tutta La Vita for the lethal Waller/Moreira combo.

To the Epsom.

Already mentioned the combo once, Kovalica for Jo and Chrisso :P I know Waller is a big fan of this galloper and this race and field suits bigtime 2nd up.
Second tip is Nugget, he ran 3rd from gate 19 in the Donny and there is less quality here.. ohh and the GOAT has the keys.
Lastly and he has to get a mention the topweight Oberon.Needs a little luck too from a wide gate but ran 2nd in the Donny this year why its $23 has me stumped!!
Annabel usually gets these imports to run well and bob up at juicy odds too, he is a live chance with luck in running.

Just Fine is crazy short in the Metrop, maybe will justify that price and win with the featherweight but just as likely something at double figure odds wins it.I have little idea of whom that might be though.

Finally, one or two for Mornington.

In the feature Waller should win it with Born A King there is no spoils on the price though.Wouldn't be a huge shock if Regal Power went much better but at $5 I'm passing, if he got out to double figures(maybe with a boost)he could be worth a bet.

Earlier one at odds who might figure and I don't mind finally stepping up in trip is In R5, Aseventy Seven.
Though he is a spec only i am a knock on the fav, while this class suits the dry/hard ground may not i think she prefers some give in the track.

10 mystery $1 trifectas should be the only outlay...

Though the expense is minimal I shudder at the thought of those fn things lol

Usually bigger fields Falc, the Epsom and Metrop are notoriously hard races and always chockers.Would prefer Tom Kitten had less opponents but he has drawn a middle gate so should get every possible.
Difference this year is its dry which is probably not always the case..hopefully doesn't end up too hard.
You've gotta have a punt in the Epsom right? I'll likely back all 3 i mentioned to win a similar amount

I'm fairly confident of some positive results, a couple of bankers at the Valley have provided some kick-start punting money so I shall endeavour to gamble it responsibly :D

Looking forward to watching the G1 Arc De Triomphe at 10:05pm (Perth time), run at Longchampe. The Arc is one of the best races in the world and one of the best 2400m races in the world - weight for age as well. Good prize money too, the race is worth $5.3 million.

i saw a 2000m race from longchamps last night and it had a pace-maker, the announcer made no bones about it, "the pace-maker "hairylegs" is about to be loaded.
sure enough old hairy lead them at a good pace until he ran out of gas at around the 300/400m mark.
    is that standard in France?

That was a race for Arabian pure breds. Have not heard of "official" pacemakers in thoroughbred races.

Cbf making a Turnbull day thread so here is relevant.

I am looking forward to watching a fair few interesting gallopers(and betting on some of them)today mostly at Flemington.
Will try and keep it brief..as if!

Showmanship welcome back old boy can he still compete at a very high level? Idk but hope he runs well, what a crying shame he has been so affected by Injury.
Star Patrol who should be fitter will be winning that race I think.

Couple of my cup "roughies" go round in the Bart Cummings, Goldman and another at big odds is Virtuous Circle fine-tuning for the big dance 7 Nov.

Maybe the most anticipated runner in Australia today will be Romantic Warrior, how good is he?..few in the be wary camp and also a big fan in one R.S Dye(allegedly a reputed HK form analyst)who reckons he will near smoke all comers in the CP..we will see later today. He seems to be a serious beast, renowned trainer Lee Freedman in the wary camp reckons wait till the Cox.
Other chances in the race for mine are the flying Soulcombe(who may be my no 1 Melb Cup pick)and Osipenko whose run was great in the Makybe Diva..*check how Princess Grace goes in the girls race earlier(she just wins)as he cruised past her and she is highly rated.

Earlier in the day an interesting runner with blinkers first time is Kandinsky Abstract in the Danehill.A $2 mill colt who has been very underwhelming to date..blinks could be the trick, i also like Stretan Angel in that contest.

Two blackbookers in Sydney, Cotehele down in the weights R8 looks an ew chance and Magic Time who just needs a peachy ride, please Nash get an economical run because she is smart, Graham Begg an astute horseman rates her very highly.

Good days punting all, I'll be on the cans for certain I'd say(Carlton Dry my "love").
