R1: Loves the trial of This'll Show ya, can track the fave over use it as a bunny then give it wind burn.

R2: No6 Bonnie Lad is the bet of the Ascot season so far. Theyve bet better prices but $5 is still a gift of its trial against the talented Petula compared to this lot.

R4: Noteworthy EW all day. Another solid trialler could be one for Bob to cheer on over the summer.

R8: Petula. I might be short of its best distance.but they will hammer early which could set it up for a barn stormer.

Good luck all.

So how was the experience for the long talked about return? Obviously I'm no longer in WA so I rely on others to tell me what the day was like. I did ring a mate who contributes here a lot but he said he was suffering from a sore neck.

How was crowd size,I know that will inflate it as usual, but I was told when walking out, people waiting for Taxi's/Ubers young ones collapsed on ground obviously to much alcohol.

They said 5000 so that means it was under 3000.
For mine they got it wrong, promoted as a family day ummmmm wtf? Everest and Guineas on, it should have been promoted as a full on racing purist day

For as long as i remember opening day was a day where you ripped off the winter band aid and went full throttle, “family day” doesnt excite the girls (so you wont get the guys)…… oh and it was always free entry too

The beach bar was a miss as well

I thought maybe 3000-4000 though I'm no guess of crowds, but I was on course. Thought the crowd was down on last year but again only a guess. The crowd appeared quite well behaved and the girls were certainly dressed up nice for a day at the track. Personally thought it was a nice day but the crowds are thinning out each year at each big event so not shocked the crowd looked smaller. There are ways to get a crowd occasionally but the days of 5000+ on an average Saturday at the races each week, every week are gone, LONG gone. As long as the bar is turning over and people are eating I don't think the turf club care one iota

The DJ at the end was a good call.
I reckon whoever controls the big screen needs to get their coordination right a bit better. I am sure they could get more sky racing on there and less Ascot scenery or local horse meandering out to the starting gates. We are there to punt on everything that moves after all. :D

Hot Jules wasn't a bad horse for Paul Jordan if my memory is still in reasonable shape so perhaps there is a connection with trainer or horse.

Hot Jules.... Pity the contributor hasn't the Crown Jewels to contribute win lose or draw as we all do

Oooooooh so cutting.  Deflecting to me is the best you can do to show the sire is rudderless.  My old account was Don Pasquale.  Good times.
@SLIPPERGOLDEN you obviously missed the boat.  The opening post was pointing out there was no thread for opening day.  And you come up with dribble.  Will be interesting to see where you can show my comment was wrong.Maybe I’m Sestich….hmmmmm.

Have to agree, opening day is no way the day to advertise as "family day".

Was arguably the strongest day of racing over east for the year, play that up and make it about being part of that action locally.

I'm a family man and would love to take the kids out but want to do that on a day when I'm not focused on nearly every race jumping across 3 states! Keep that kind of thing for when things lull in the east.

Try attract the young who want a day out and the hardline racing fans who have been desperate for this track change.

The boat I missed must have been the Titanic. I was responding to "This site is dead.  No discussion and no incentive to join in discussions" Nothing to do with Opening Day.
