As they said on the Front Bar gather round next weekend where you can watch 17 AFL teams and the West Coast Eagles.

West Coast a big improvement but now they have to go on with it.

Dockers at wrong end of the stick with the ball being touched twice before the Carlton forward claimed the mark.

The dissent decision while a bit clouded should never have got to that situation as the Dockers should have been back in the centre doing everything possible to win the clearance and have another shot on goal.

One thing I do know having played and watched football for 70 years is that I have never seen an umpire change a decision with or without dissent. Very occasionally they do point in the wrong direction when awarding a free kick but quickly rectify it.

Tipping the Hawks to spring an upset this weekend and is anyone doing a book on which player will lay Harley Reid out on his back? I am sure it will be soon.

the publicity given to the young guy is 100% over the top. i've said before, its too much, the head honchos of the eagles should get onto the editor and tell him to tell his journos to ease off. his pic was in the west 4 times in one issue. today he was laying on a bed with ben cousins.
the young guy could easily finish up big headed. we must remember he is only 19yrs old.

Peter Davidson's old man John?, and his best mate Gay Italiano, didn't mind a bet. Had horses with Wilf Powell including one of my all time favourite little black horses, Pride Of Kentucky, and enjoyed a lot of success. Definitely not shy in the punting department.  I think John Davidson was a founding member of the Collie Footy Club.

Peter was a very highly regarded human and at just 60 years of age, it is very unfair. Been crook for ages.

An absolute legend in our town. And you would travel a very long way to meet a better man.
Davo loved having a beer and a punt with his mates.

I see in The West yesterday they had the player rankings for the derby. Now I'm sure most on here would agree that young Harley is going to be a very good player and quite possibly a great one but to have him currently ranked above Luke Ryan is an absolute joke.
Of the 521 players who have played a game of AFL this season Ryan is ranked 2nd for kicks per game, equal 4th for marks per game, 1st for metres gained per game and is in the top 20 players in the AFL Coaches Champion Player Award.
By comparison Harley's ranked 362nd for kicks, 399th for marks and 181st for metres gained. Anyway good luck to the young bloke, he'll probably go out and win the Glendinning-Allan Medal now.

The AFL hey , nothin much has changed , The Mighty Cas are back on top , 6 zip and undefeated

And Fremantle , well if you were a Freo supporter , particularly a long time Fremantle supporter , then i think you would be yearning for that Johny Cash song - how does it go again - Its Sunday morning and i want to be Stoned.

All credit to Harley and the Eagles. Just shows what 22 players having a red hot go for most of the game can do. Dockers are just too inconsistent over the 4 quarters and have been for a long time.

Any truth in the rumour Harley and a few others might have gone out Sunday and celebrated the win a little too hard, which is the real reason for his so-called rest??

Personally I hope it is the case and we might have a bit of care factor over a derby win. Heaven forbid sporting clubs actually have rivalry and enjoy beating certain teams.

The Western Derby has become more and more of a snorefess over the last 15 years it has even less intensity than a normal game.

Listening to Mark Robinson yesterday and he was talking about something I strongly agree with - the game of AFL had so few highlights nowadays. 20 years ago you would walk away with so many points of the game stuck in your mind to talk about during the week. Now you might get a good even contest that keeps you watching but there are very few special moments in game.

Freo on the wrong end of a pumping but at least even watching the other team you had to walk away thinking geez that was some bloody good football over several incidents.

Much better to talk about during the week than "should that have been holding the ball" "was that bump worth a week".

There are too many teams now and nowhere near enough player talent.
And the buffoons running the AFL want to add 1 and possibly 2 more teams...thats another 80+ players that are not up to the standard.....sheesh!!!

But think of the TV rights deals with 20 teams.

That Anzac Day clash was one the Diggers would have appreciated. Not only to see 90000 odd thousand pay their respects by being silent for that minute. Which I reckon is one of the great spectacles in world sport . But the cracker game to boot. Well done to both teams. And the fans

i heard a historian ( very good he was ) on ABC Radio on Anzac Day morning , and he touched on alot of topics relating to that

And he said re the WAFL - that North Fremantle had a team in it , but with World War 1 - they lost half their forward line or something and the club folded

And he said they were the North Fremantle black and white Magpies , he also said that when they folded , Swan Districts took their black and white colours and their magpie  emblem/mascot

So at long long last i now know the real reason why Chariots barracks for that mob of losers in the AFL  because Chariots actually donned the boots and played senior football for Swan Districts , and seeing Swans pinched North Fremantles Black and White colours and Magpie emblem - thus Chariots thought it was only just and fair that he barrack for Freo in the AFL - ha-ha-ha
