All jokes aside Marko, you are spot on.  Swans were also known as the Magpies in their early days.

You must have never come across and one that's played for North Freo Marko - all they want to do is tell you that "out club use to be in the WAFL you know". As though they are just one step away from being AFL talent.

Laugh as much as you like Oldone. Harley rising star Reid just to remind you. Pretty sure every team in the comp would want him. Maybe you should be a bit more humble and listen to what your coach said about the kid

I think it is about time that Longmuir revealed why Will Brodie is still on the outer at the Dockers whilst others seem to be a protected species. Another 27 possessions for Peel on Saturday.

Haven't watched much other than my bombers this season but watched the eagles this week.

A lot of the old number 9 ( 2 back) in the new number 9 I thought. Similar builds and toughness. I can see why the hype is there.

    Footy betting question.

When there is a draw in the head to head market do the bookies take the lot or do they pay out at half rate??

Looking but can't find the rules anywhere.

I can give you a factual answer to that - many many  years ago , talking early 90s i was down in Melb for weekend , went to Flemington races , where the sports bookies had to be located then , had $200 on Syd Swans ( right down the bottom of ladder ) to beat Footscray ( not much chop )  at the Western Oval at 7-2

Wind swept wet day , you could hardly score , Swans were 1 pt in front for the last 10 minutes ( neither team had scored ) , Drew Morphet said the Swans have won - less than 10 seconds to go , boundary throw in , 70 metres from the Foot goal , McPherson got it  put a big torp onto the boot and it snuck in for a pt , then siren rang a draw

I went out to the Moonee Valley trots that night , the sports bookies were their , i said what do i get - he said you get half the value of your ticket , your ticket is worth $900 - so you get $450 - and thats what i got

i think Gilga it depends on which agency you had the bet with. I am not sure about this but have been told the WA tab you loose becuase there is actully a market framed for the draw . But bet 365 for example pay you out albeit at half the rate . I think it depends largely on there promotions like one of them possibly bet365 if your horse wins but looses on protest they still pay you

You lose on Tabtouch of it's a draw in the head to head market. This is because you can bet the draw.

As a Dockers supporter I have great respect for what Harley Reid has achieved since he has burst on to the scene and I am not convinced that the tackle deserved a suspension.

One area of concern however was his open dissent towards the umpires following the incident. On at least three occasions he warranted a 50m penalty but for whatever reason the umpires did not take the required action. Perhaps they were concerned that such action would incite a riot at Optus.

    Weak umpiring in my opinion.

Not AFL but WAFL. Attended the Fremantle Derby yesterday with the family and friends, great crowd, fantastic atmosphere, fantastic day all round. How good is it taking the kids out on the oval and having a kick??

Both teams foot skills were woeful but some of the doggies handball chains were outstanding. They came with the physicality required for a game like this early, got the jump and that was enough to win them the game.

Not sure i was watching the premier from either team.

That is terribly sad news Chariots, Coops and Toddy joined at the hip. Everyone at Deanmill FC will be greatly saddened.

Big spread in the West tomorrow on his life, playing and coaching achievements.

Actually Trent predicted all was not well when Toddy did an interview on Channel 7 at the Derby yesterday. He said he did not look well and his speech was not normal.

Chariots, a tribute posted on the Deanmill Football Club Facebook page. You may care to pass it on to John, another much loved favourite out at the "Mill".

    "The
Deanmill Football Club, in it's entirety, is mourning the loss of an
icon of the game in John Todd. From humble beginnings in a small timber
settlement to striding the stage of greatness at all levels of
Australian Rules Football, "Toddy" had a presence like few others. An
unflinching desire to be the very best and a generosity of spirit and
commitment that was unwavering. He, and his great mate John Cooper,
through 23 years of support for the Todd Cooper Cup, gave so much
to our Football Club and requested so little. Toddy's uncompromising
support of grassroots football in general, and of the Deanmill Football
Club in particular, will never be forgotten. We were all so fortunate to
count him as a friend and advisor for so many years. When he spoke, we
all listened, and we all learnt. A magician on the field, a master
tactician in the coaching arena and a loyal and innovative thinker who
was tireless in his desire to see the game prosper. Truly, a giant of
the game. We are so very grateful for his support and send our kindest
thoughts and sincerest condolences to Meryl and his extended family."

Excellent front page coverage in the local Manjimup-Bridgetown Times this morning as well, and a radio interview on ABC South West Radio this morning with Deanmill Life Member Anthony East.

Anthony was given time to explain the significance of both John Todd and John Cooper's 23 year involvement with the Todd-Cooper Cup and their huge support for grassroots footy.

A truly sad day with the passing of the great man John Todd.
Sadly I never got to see him play but he was the greatest coach of all time imho.
We have lost a WA icon.
    RIP JT
