Just got around to reading todays West Aust , what a waste of time , youd reckon they knocked the whole paper together in 10 minutes

And i didnt think thety showed much dignity to J Todd , the guy has just passed away , so on the front page you have the very best photo of him , and of the pictures they had of him , and i didnt think they made much effort their . But the best easily was a picture of him in 2004 being inducted to WA Football legend status , that is a beautiful picture of him , in a suit , with a bow tie , that should have been on the front page , i think his family would have been happy if it had of been

You have Adrian Barich writing flippant comments , i didnt like that at all

And the editorial gave him half a backhander for making players run 100 by 100 metres , but Andy Brayshaw runs 100/100s on Xmas day morning , so its not such a barbaric thing to do if you want to get super fit

Like i say they should have the front page picture of induction 2004 Legend - then go right back to when he was young and go through the career , and with a bit of effort they could have got alot better photos

Very ordinary coverage - and a very ordinary newspaper today - its already in my yellow lid bin

When I am about to give up on you Marko you post something sensible. Unfortunately bagging the West coverage of John Todd's passing is not one of them.

I just said and gave valid points - that i thought it could be a hell of alot  better

They had Barich of all people saying he had some arguement with Toddy in a pub - what a load of nonsense . Why not get  say Denis Marshall one of the greats who played in that era to write something about J Todd as a young player

And i thought their editorial was absolutely pathetic , it didnt give him great praise in my opinion . I cant be bothered doing it  and my newspaper is in the bin , but id love someone to post it word for word and people can be the judge

However i shouldnt have commented - i will just stick to putting up double figure priced winners at Western Australian Trotting meetings

Still here Old Hindrance. Had high hopes of going deep into the footy tipping but threw in the towel after round 8.
    Just enjoying the "Harley" show.
Time for Homer to go. Get big Cox and bring Warner with him. [-O<

it was time for Homer to go at the end of last season Deto. In a rebuild but still playing 30+ blokes that are finished

Have to agree with you to a extent Roo. Obviously should not gvive up a lead like that, but lets see the head of umpiring come on tv and explain how it should not have been a 50m penalty and why now for 2 weeks running Daicos has been awarded and then not have a free awarded against him at decisive momemts of the game. If he can do it for the Yeo and King kicks whill he do it for these?

Watched the John Todd funeral service from Fremantle Cemetry on live streaming.

    A very fitting tribute.

I am genuinely worried about Detonator's welfare after the Eagles played their best side for the year.

unfourtunatley the Eagles are a basket case supposedly there strongest team on paper in years. And get absolutley demolished by a resurgent hawks. I dont know of any other AFL club or business. That would put up with Simpsons win losss record over the last 4 years. Played and won a grand final in 2018. and compare the records of those two teams since. Some of the decisions of the whole football department inc recruiters have made since then have been absolute sh.t. . If Homer has the job next year something is defiantly wrong at that club Supposedly in a rebuild but has young players running around in there WAFL team while has beens like Gakk Shead etc have been given games. How are they supposed to know if these kids are Afl level if they dont get game time. With seven or eight games left of the season its high time Homer stops trying to prop up or save his coaching career and play these kids . And if they dont come up to the mark move them on as well. Rant over

    Thanks for the thoughts fellas.
We were insipid, pathetic and weak yesterday.
Homer has to go. The board has to go.
Eagles fans turn up because there is nothing else to do on a Sunday arvo in Perth.
When I say fans I mean the “blue rinse set” that have memberships since 1987.
Outside of Harley the recruiting has been abysmal.
Chesser got 6 disposals yesterday without being tagged. He was our 1st pick 3 years ago.
Ginbey looked slow as Gaff yesterday. Rotham does not have a clue. Hough could not hit the side of a barn door. Darling doesn’t give a stuff. Duggan missed 8 targets in his 28 ineffective disposals.
What did West Coast see in Tyler Brockman ? Cripps watched backsides all game as Hawks continually ran away from him.
Do the honourable thing Simmo and do us all a favour.

Falcon, it s all good banter mate, i am not one to kick someone when they are down, as my mob have been quite often.
Deto and Spinking are well aware of the problems WC have as are the 40,000 that attend each game but for the life of me the Rulers of the eagles nest and the West Australian press dont.
If this was a Eastern states team Simpson would of been gone at the beginning of LAST year.
    Good luck boys.

dont have any arguement from me there Hendo. everything you said is correct. What concerns me is as you said everyone can see why cant the club. Surely the football department, ceo. whoever has to put their footdown and say play the youth see if they have what it takes or get rid of them as well  while getting rid of Gaff Shead Darling i could go on . Now is certainly the time its not like their knocking on the door of the 8
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,293 posts
surely gaff, shead, darling and maybe cripps should say to the club...give those young guys a go. it would be a hard call but they must talk about it among themselves.

i know its all good banter, hendo. i've just missed it this year but i understand detto's angst.

Somehow I don't think Jack Darling's going to be banging the door down telling the club to give those young guys a go. Only 8 games left in the season and he's currently sitting on 292 games.

You are most probably correct Runyon but no individual regardless of there reason should be bigger than the club . Wasn’t it Jack who refused to have the covid first and second jabs despite the rest of the squad having them.
  • detonatordetonator    4,385 posts
100% Homer is all about getting Jack to 300 games. Mates looking after mates. The board with Justin Langer on it looking after his mate Simpson.
The acceptance of those in power at the Eagles of our inept team performances where no young player has improved in the last few years is disgusting. We will be treading water for the last 8 games of 2024 before any heads will roll.
Another wasted season watching average players playing average football. (Harley being the exception)
