A Record Created At Carnarvon?

West Australian Racing

The last race at Carnarvon was won by Protected Action at $41. The horse is trained by L Murray who was probably unlucky not to get a double as he had the favourite in an earlier abandoned race.

Correct me if I am wrong but he hasn't trained for an eternity until recently inheriting a bagful of rejected horses. I recall he had a reasonably good horse called Vegastun that subsequently Paul Jordan took off him in the late eighties.

I suggest his last winner was in about 1989 or extremely early 90s which I believe would be a record for the gap between winners for a trainer in WA.

So a case of arrested development on the training front Voodoo.

Did he train a Port Hedland cup winner. Blue Drifter?

I notice Kate Pateman (no claim?) rode a winner. What is her relationship to the Pateman clan. Same question regarding Timothy Pike who trained a double recently at Port Hedland. I like his racing colours.

Any further info on these newcomers who tasted very early success.

    Formerly Kate Fitzgerald.

Married Aaron, had 2 kids and has returned to race riding. Good business sense for the family set up.
