Carnarvon Dish.

West Australian Racing
Just when you thought you'd seen everything in the background at Australias racetracks like Red Sandhills at Birdsville , 900 foot high Stacks at Mount Isa and Port Pirie , Mullock Heaps at Kalgoolie and Broken Hill up pops a Parkes type Dish in the yonder at Carnarvon . Whats the story about it for a Qlder.

Carnarvon housed a NASA tracking station that goes way back....it was a link in the Apollo 11 moon landing and associated missions prior to (Gemini Missions)and subsequent. Ceased being operative after the Skylab laboratory came out of orbit, late 70's. Is now a museum.
