Morning, Another Friday another 6 horse FFA.

Since the Nullabor/Fremantle Cup, there has been a fast class race every week.....Six Free For Alls and one Conditioned pace and the filed sizes have been 6,6,7,9,7 6 and 6. At $31k per race for primarily the same horses each week, is it any wonder that we as an Industry are trading insolvently?
It seems that in spite of Cameron Brown's line in the sand statement of the requirement for full fields and 10 race programmes for Friday Night Metro Meetings, the programming and running of a seriously under subscribed Free For All continues on a weekly basis.

Terrible, Remember a time when a field didn't have eight runners at acceptance it was deleleted from meeting thinking they then only allowed discretion for two & three olds. S

Surely we could revert back to stands in these scenario's, with Maximum back mark 40. Short distance then 50. Mid distance& Long distance on rotation basis ,with anyone winning off the front recieve a penalty free win to help increase field sizes ( 6 year & older horses incentive. not available to 4&5 up& comers). Plus other incentives. Everyone strives for top horse so these races have to be programmed. But hard to justify 6 horse fields.

Bring back Tony Silivich and his horses, guaranteed to race in the FFA every week and the stand at Pinjarra every Monday.

Hi, What was the delay in all clear

The photo finish failed  and they had to go to "Hawke Eye" vision from the stewards to determine the result.

Richie Bell smashed the tipsters poll with five winners including some good priced ones. The others only had two or three.

The "new media guild" tipsters panel put together by Gloucester Park following some ructions also fared poorly. Couple of duck eggs (Tim Walker and new addition to the "media"Rob Gartrell) whilst the Wests newest main man, Hayden King, hopefully bought his hamburger and chips after his only winner in race 1.
Tough night at the office, some very competitive racing, push out rule asking more questions than it answers.

Which push causes questions? I thought it was a pretty clean night of racing, good competitive racing where tipsters battled to find winners isn’t that what we want?
  • JayJayJayJay    8,086 posts
It was a very competitive night, one of the best for a while, and yes it is what we want, excellent. Push out rule will always raise questions when rule 163 (a) and (b) is superseded by the push out rule and are subject to subjective application. Pushing out that causes jostling and or interference should in my view be penalised. You obviously disagree, that's fine, last time I checked it was a democracy.

Re GP i thought it was a very very tough night , i had a detailed liook at the form , but didnt come up with a tip or bet , i thought keep the powder dry to Narrogin Sat night

The highlight was the win of Lusaka , i came close to backing it at the $.4.40  , i watched a replay of its previous run , it had The Miki  Taker cold at the top of the straight , but couldnt quite beat it , that put a seed of doubt in my head

Watched the race live last night , it commenced its 3 wide run in the straight in bell lap , at the start of back straight it looked to be floundering and i thought thank goodness i didnt back this , then it just motored up to the leader  28.3 and 27.9 , where it came from very few horses can actually  do that on the GP track

That was the run of a potential top liner in my opinion

Nah I agree that pushing shouldn’t cause interference just not sure which push did last night

Now let's get this right, it's a ease out not push out, local rule 164, since introduced early 2000's by stewards who couldn't control rule 163. WA is the only state with this rule and still to this day confuses a lot of people, the only answer is to remove it and fall in line with other states.
  • Rocket_ReignRocket_Reign    904 posts
Every state has an ease out rule ours just starts earlier but on a small track with no lane that’s reasonable
  • JayJayJayJay    8,086 posts
I think Queeninthecorner with just a brief notation "FW" after fairly obvious jostling and some would say interference may have been worth at least a mention in the stewards report but that is apparently well within the ease out definition.

Friday night at Redcliffe 50k race and J Grimson has done it again , taken down knocked off Leap to Fame , came from behind it to beat it , a thrilling race and slick time

District Attorney it was a nice 5 year old in Melb , didnt really fire a shot in the last 6 months , and  an  owner/trainer had the horse , so like alot of others , we send the horse to the miracle worker Mr Jason

2 starts basically 30k for each win thus 60k in the bank , it won the Treur at Bankstown , some nice horses in that , and then of course the Redcliffe win

My 2nd point and this is a racing forum , thus you should be able to discuss things without fear or favour , and i think from the top of the straight in his driving  action young  Jack Callaghan  has completely outdriven  Grant Dixon , he had that horse wound up and ready to go from the top of the straight , hes beautifully balanced and his hands and arms are moving so much quicker than Dixons and right on the line or a stride from it he is poetry in motion , Callaghan is probably 2 stone lighter , that is also a big help

Grant Dixon champion trainer but like everyone needs the cattle of course , but his driving action  reminds me so much of Fred Kersley , basically identical

Be interesting to see if can still peel off sensational last quarter driven differently, with the new trainer Micheal Bellman said he thought 25 plus District Attorney was capable of, after on bog track right off the track running 27.1
.He has always had in his possession turn of foot,
Right Marko Dixon was driving in cruise control, Callaghan was driving for everything, To late for Dixon to rearrange his effort.

Gee if Grimson can get him to run tough could be superstar only had him a month, he is a half brother to million dollar earner Cruz Bromac,--- Jodi Quinlan trained him for five starts between O/trainer and Grimson.
