Even less people on course because of this ? Imagine the average age in the bookies area on a "normal" Saturday would be at least 50+, of course you get the one time punters who are a bit younger but generally they would be in the older bracket. A lot of these people probably dont have access to SKY racing from their homes ?

Fantastic decision from all involved. Sky racing have given us the rough end of the stick for far too long

If Sky drop Perth Racing as a result it will have a significant impact on turnover.

Perth Racing would then be available only in WA.

I'm not sure if this is correct but I think racing may remain on 526 as it's 528 that is being dumped from Foxtel and 526 remains with Perth Racing ? Can anyone elaborate on this ?

I should be the same as SA they are on the other network and still on sky 1

Some interesting articles where SKY's poor treat of WA racing may have been a driver to negotiating away from SKY in the first instance.
SKY will have to come back you would think with some kind of arrangement with the need to have coverage of WA racing to generate income. WA racing is a small player but still the income is important to any betting company particularly TABCORP.
There will be some that say that WA racing brings it upon itself by continually running late, that is right in some cases but it is only really noticeable when you get shunted to 2. I watch a lot of racing and WA racing is no orphan it is just some others get preferential treatment and are not shunted, if they were it would be very apparent that others run late too.
i remember about 6 weeks a go a race from Doomben was taken over a WA race that was running slightly late only to see a horse being re shod and the Doomben race ran minutes late.
Also looking at the prospect of being on Racing.com, interesting times ahead.
Long overdue but long term arrangements now over. Reckon it is a massive step forward.

Maybe get the stats on those late starts especially on Saturday.. to me peak punting is between 10am -330pm western n once last races over east have completed tab punters clear out quite a lot.
Those mutinies before races start n when they must get probably half there turnover surely and run a bit late who cares they make probably more money.
But who over east is watching our prime races at 430 western when it’s 730pm at night over east.. not many.

Doomben have it on their Sky contract that they get 3 minutes clear air prior to jump, that’s why we always get dogged

I think SKY gave them the short back and sides as they were dumped as the WA racing conduit.
Both at fault. Little respect from SKY and WA racing regularly runs late.

Nah they've been doing it for years. 20 second late and they get pushed to Sky2

Dont know if it is a good move re turnover ,and turnover is King  dont follow the gallopers ( or the  chaff bandits as they call them) these days

But with CH 7 to cover them it has gone full  circle , because back in the late 70s early 80s and i was pro punting for about 4 years around that period , CH 7 used to have direct telecasts of all the Ascot races , Jimmy Chadwick used to be the CH 7 racecaller . Used to get out those taped races  the the following Frid get out the replays of the previous couple of Sat meetings and watch them over and over , trying to work out the winners for that Sat meeting .

A few favourite horses that era which come to mind , Callingri City , Jemoyn , of course Coal Pak who won an Oakleigh Plate and Flying Pharoah  , Paragon of Virtue

Yeah and any other state can be 3=4 minutes and still hold there coverage and sometimes when they are shoved to Sky 2 they clash with another meeting.

Qld and NSW have different contract, they get priority.

OK so I'm not up with all the mod cons of the computer age, is this going to be telecast on "free to air TV" or do we have to download an app and watch it on a phone or tablet ? When they mention Channel 7 I expect to be able to turn on my TV and watch it at home in the lounge. BTW I have SKY channel so it's not real relevant to me but I'd like to know for another family member who would enjoy this on a TV, thanks

    Fellas

Just buy a Google TV device (around 69 - 99), plug it into your TV, hook up your wi-fi and bang get the apps.

    That's if you don't want a phone :)>-
