I couldn't believe people on Betfair were letting you on at greater than $2 Pike from barrier 1 on this galloper. Too often I have laid a heavily backed Pike runner only to see everyone get out of his way. On this occasion, he was blocked for a run several times and should have won. Money talks.

And have a look at race 3, Pike on the drifting favourite jumps to the lead but doesnt go to the fence. He lets the horse that was heavily supported and was slow away, get going and scoot through along the fence after at least 200mts.

Race 3. BOULEVARD FNE JEWELLERY KIDS EDITION FOTF – 26 SEPTEMBER MAIDEN (1000m)
Jockey W Pike (RIVER ANGEL) was interviewed in relation to his tactics adopted through the early
stages of the event, specifically, if there was an opportunity for him to cross runners to his inside to
lead the race shortly after the start after commencing well and to avoid REAL DELUXE (C Cooper)
improving to his inside to eventually lead. Jockey Pike advised he was given no specific instructions
with the filly having its first start, however, anticipated settling in a forward position, and after
commencing well, he elected to hold his position shortly after the start as after looking to his inside on
a number of occasions was aware REAL DELUXE had commenced to race keenly and was improving
quickly. Therefore, rather than shift inwards with the possibility of causing interference to that runner,
he elected to hold his position and after that runner had improved to his immediate inside, he had
followed it across to settle outside it. Stewards, after viewing the lateral and head on vision through
the early stages of the event, and considering the evidence of Jockey Pike, were of the opinion his
explanation was reasonable in the circumstances and took no further action.

I think Real Deluxe could be an outstanding prospect over the coming 3YO season. It was probably ambitious giving her a first start in a Listed event against proven commodities, but she showed dazzling speed and then raced greenly in the straight and baulked when being passed. Clearly she is a class above everything here in this race at Northam. You could make a slight case for River Angel but for her to take a sit and then give up 3len in the last 600M night be a great indicator that she needs to improve greatly to graduate to Saturday class. The depth of this field is the  only concern. Willie Pikes ride is of little concern, the filly was having her first start afterall.

Could have bought her for $80,000 earlier this week I doubt $150,000 would buy her now.

I think she could be the next Fabergino.
