Fielded at the 2 day day Birdsville Cup meeting . Crowds the same size as usual but their punting has changed from 12 months ago . Everyone of the 11 Bookies holds were half of last year with the ring betting 115% . Talking to fellow bagman they all said there was minimal big bets recorded . Big punters are'nt going to Birdsville now and the proof is at the airfield . 20 years ago counted 200 light aircraft lined up both sides of airfield with tarps hanging off wings with sleepings underneath , this year only  5 planes lined up . .Could'nt move in the ring in 2017 but now most of the crowd just sit and drink all day without going into betting ring which was the emptiest I've ever seen . Asked plenty why they were'nt betting and most said their only betting on the Cup and moneys tight . All Bookies reckon theirs a Big Recession coming for Oz based on Betting holds .

We've been in a per capita recession for ages. GDP is only going up by a tiny amount due to immigration papering over the cracks. GDP per capita keeps going down which means the average Aussie is getting poorer.
