Golf PGA Tour Season 24/25
Sport
This will be the new thread for the new season.
It all starts with the ProCore Championship on Thursday night. If you are confused, there is only 1 week break betwen the Fedex Cup and the new Fall Swing for the start of the 24/25 season. Also, this tournament was previously known as the Fortinet Championship, or in recent years, the Max Homa benefit.
More soon!

New season, new hope.
With the negative balance now gone from last seasons accounting, we start a fresh with a glint in the eye after a whole week off.
The ProCore championship (previously Fortinet) is the opening event of the fall swing and is the first in 7 tournaments leading up to Xmas.
They might not have the best fields but they are important for these blokes 50 and above in the world rankings, to gain early FedEx cup points and a win secured their future for at least 2 years, with all the majors and signature events available. Not to mention the tournament of champions in January and of course, the dinero.
A very top heavy field goes to Silverado, where Sahith Theegala is the favorite to regain his Fortinet championship from last season, his first win on Tour. He is favorite at $11 with Wyndham Clarke.
We need to get off to a flyer. While Sahith and Windy are coming off very great FedEx Cup playoffs, I'm potentially falling into old habits early.
I like two this week.
First, Max Homa. He is playing the worst golf of his life. Since the Masters, he has been horrible. I'm banking he finds something this week, back to a place he won back to back in 21/22 and also, boiled by his semi controversial selection for the upcoming Presidents Cup team. We saw with JT last year, these events can play you into form. After all, the bloke is a top 20 player in the world and you don't lose your ability. I think the familiarity and the weaker field will suit him and he is juicy at $26.
Similarly, Min Woo Lee was disappointed this year it must be said. After his win in Australia early in the year, I thought it might be his year to kick the door down. Unfortunately it wasn't. While he is a consistent player and very very good, he hasn't had that killer instinct he needs to get the job done. He has been thereabouts in many a tournament last season but always puts in the one bad round which destroys his chances. Again, he would be bouyed after his selection in the Presidents Cup team and must be looking to get runs on the board early before the Aussie Summer swing. He is also $26.
I've elected to back these guys on TabTouch for 10 units at $14 in there dual winner market. This represents better value than backing them individually and that will do me for the start of the season.
The event starts at 10 pm WST. Good luck for the season ahead and let's hope for a good start!
Min Woo Lee sits 6 back of the pace of 13 under. He has played solid and needs a good Saturday to be in contention

I'm playing 3 times this week

Holding down a 16 handicap at the moment. But things are happening. I'll be on single figures in 6 months :))

Shot a respectable 89 this AM (37 points) at Meadow Springs. The greens were cored and sanded and weren't mown, also very duey front nine. Unfortunately had 4 x 3 putt bogies and a 4 putt double which absolutely kills you.
But I'll front up tomorrow on the public holiday and do it all again!

Something for a battler this week, played one fantasy team and streeted the field to take the win.
And now it's Rory vs Billy on playoff hole number 2.

I've had a few doubles after round one in both events.
In the Euro I've gone with Rahm, Rory and MacIntyre at $3.25, $12 and $15.
In the US event, I've gone with Mackenzie Hughes, Ben Griffen and Eric Cole at $13, $11 and $29.
1 unit on each combo is 9 units out. Something to keep my eye on.
This week sees a new tournament on the schedule, the Black desert classic.
Will skip the writeup and for accounting sake I've had an epiphany that Chris Kirk is going to have a great week
2 units first round leader at $41 and 3 units at $34 to win the thing.
Heading off on a 3 day team event golfing weekend for some much need time away. Absolutely frothing at 3 rounds in 3 days with the Perth Golf Network crew at Meadow Springs, Secret Harbour and Rockingham golf clubs.
Have a great weekend and good luck
The Shriners Childrens Hospital Open starts tonight with favorite Tom Kim out to defend his win last season.
I've lobbed into a couple before the start of play.
Harris English $41, 1 unit each way
Matti Schmidt $81, 0.5 units each way
Both performed well last week and not much different here. English ground out a final round 69 last week which could easily be said he played his worst golf in 2 years on Sunday. These guys don't lose ability and he's ready to win. Schmidt is more of a bet for a guy who can win for the first time on the tour on these lower events.
Good luck
8.5 units back
YTD -14 units
Zozo in Japan
Genesis in Korea
LPGA in Malaysia
I like these in each. 2.5 units on each
Sahith Theegala at Zozo
Ben An in Korea
JY KO in Malaysia
Good viewing!

This is in response to the horrible first rounds of Sahith and JY KO.
My man Benny An is flying with solo 2 stroke lead at the half way mark in Korea. He is rolling the rock so well. Ove added his countryman Tom Kim at $15 for another 2.5 units to cover.
Here's to a good weekend.

Ben An and Tom Kim share the lead in Korea
Justin Thomas only 2 back in second place in Japan
Jeeno Thitikul had an amazing 64 in round 3 to be leading in Malaysia
Surely one of these guys has to win.

A second rate field it has to be said because of the time of year. Cam Young was supposed to start but has WD'd today.
Not spending any time here. Having 1.5 units on Matti Schmidt and Harris English. They have both been playing well this fall swing and are both at a generous $29.
Best of luck
Harris English finished 9 back of winner Austin Eckroat, who cards his second win of the year.
YTD -7 units
What i have enjoyed is the Euro tour, with good fields and friendly time slots. This week is no exception with the finale for the Race to Dubai. Rory looks to have things sewn up for a 6th time, with Thriston Lawrence the only danger to topple him off the mantle.

Tyrrell had meltdown on Saturday, snapping a club and missing a 5 inch putt because he angrily tried to tap it in. He finished 6 back of Rory in the end after looking good after 36 holes.
At the Bermuda, Higgo and Berger made the cut but could only finish 17th and 62nd. 250-1 outsider Rafa Campos won by 3 shots.
Onto this week then an extended break for me in Japan!
The Australian PGA in Brisbane is week 1 of the new Euro tour season. Currently they are about half way through round 1 and I would suggest an investment after round 2. These events in Australia converge so many form lines so it's best to get a feel of how they are playing before heading into the weekend. Min Woo was 7.50 favorite which was way too short. I didn't mind Harry Higgs at $71 but will wait till the day settles after round 2 to have a bet.
The RSM classic is the last event of the PGA tour fall swing. Aberg is raining champ and is here to defend. He is the standout from a better field than the previous weeks. Again though, these events are so open that it might be best to wait. One that caught my eye off the bat was Denny McCarthy at around the $29 mark
