TOODYAY CUP ON SUNDAY

Toodyay was always my favourite country track due to the 'intimacy' and very fond memories of days attending with my late Father. I wish they could run a few meetings a year.

I attended the first once a year event and it was packed but frankly it was ruined by the marquee tents that blocked out the back straight and I haven't attended since . Attendance in recent years declined prior to the switch to metro. Very pleased that Toodyay Cup meeting is back at Toodyay after the council spent a few bucks to ensure the event took place.

I was going to attend however I am dismayed that the entry ticket price is $42.82? Yes I can afford it but sentiment only goes so far. I thought it was ridiculous when they charged $25 for cup day previously.

Todd's Peace Love performing. They are the Darryl Braithwaite of Perth events and will perform at the opening of an envelope.

For what it is worth I hope Dad's Bigheaded can win the cup with Ultimate Style the danger.

I hope the day is a great success for the club.

Attached are pics I took 5 years ago on a non race day visit to reminisce at the track.

Far out I thought it was Rich charging $45 for GA to the WAFL grandfinal tomorrow but this tops it.

Was planning to make the trip next year but that's just silly.

It was only $50 for GA to the Melb Cuo.last time I went!

Honestly on Friday night I said to the Mrs we should go to Toodyay on Sunday with the kids. Then i find out the entry cost... cannot happen unfortunately. Surely they realise if they make it $20 or so, people will go. $40+ and it's over.

An apology for forgetting to reduce image sizes before I uploaded them.

I would like to know the reason for that entry fee. Are they trying to get back some money to cover cost of infrastructure upgrade?

They are expecting 3000 to attend. Is it free entry for members of the Avon Valley community? ;)

100 Year Celebration of Trotting at Kellerberrin this Sunday is FREE entry. Plenty happening, see link for the full programme:

Toodyay entry is absurd, and $50 bucks to go see the WAFL GF at Perth Stadium is in the "Tell him he's dreamin" category. A very expensive place to play and watch footy.

I went to Perth for a holiday in December 1997. I drove out to Toodyay and found the track with nobody around. I had a good look around and climbed the stewards tower. Same with York but I got to drive around the course proper.
It amazes me that these courses don't get used more in order to spread the wear and tear. Throw Narrogin in as well.

Toodyay is such a horses for courses track but due to the hiatus can you believe that only 2 horses on the entire program have raced there before? Weld and Smoking Barrell. One start each for a 3rd and 2nd respectively.

Do they still use Toodyay as the local golf course?

Weld and indeed Murray's others back on grass after Carnarvon could be rough each way chances. I recall the trainer had Nitkeeper win two weeks in a row at odds at Toodyay in the late eighties so trainer has good form at the track :D

    Selections;

    R5 Highboy from Aiyza
    R6 Sound The Charge
R7 Dad's Bigheaded from Ultimate Style
R8 Admired from Rock Of Kaha. Ciao Bloomy fills the trifecta.

R5 Soaring Solo is also a big chance

How annoying seeing Cher win on the slo mo whilst Richard is saying "Magnificent Carat will get this".
Mate, if you don't have a monitor in your box, please stay out. You're just giving people false hope only to be disappointed.

I've seen she's been riding a few winners up north. Jerry's a ripper, she rode our horse to a few city and provincial wins a few years back. Feedback and comments were brilliant.

Wafl crowd yesterday was pathetic i thought. Cost more than likely the reason, should be individual tickets $20, family pass $50
