I attended the 100 year celebration of harness racing at Kellerberrin yesterday and what a fantastic day, big crowd great atmosphere and the memorabilia  from throughout the Eastern District was certainly unbelievable and bought back plenty of memories, congratulations to the committee and volunteers that made it all possible. Harness Racing at it's best.

Excellent day, good to see RWWA well represented. The memorabilia and old photos were out of this world. Not just Keller but Meeredin, Trayning and all the other clubs as well.

Add to the above the old school bell ringing with a lap to go (this should be brought back to some of our other tracks) which was a highlight for mine. The win by the drivers in the community relay (pending a stewards inquiry possibly) as they demolished the local sporting teams including one mob dressed as bananas in pyjamas was a laugh. The unscheduled drama was the stolen car crashing into the fence near the float car park and the perp doing a runner (I believe). I don’t think any cars/floats were damaged however.
The work put in by the committee and volunteers was really evident and paid off handsomely with an excellent crowd and some great racing. (Hopefully Racing WA took notice and picked up some tips on community engagement)

Loved the old school bell to signify last lap

Before Trotting at Moonee Valley took over from the showgrounds.

There was 23 restrictions imposed by Town Planning

The lastrace to be programmed no later then 10.30pm .

Lighting of all areas on the track must be directed so that no direct light or glare strays to the outside

All efforts must be made to eliminate noise nuisance to the surrounds of racecourse

This shall be done by the use of a low level public address system

NO BELL will be used to signify last lap of a race,no trumpets or fan fares to be used; the use of sirens etc to be used only in times of emergency or impending danger .

The bell was in danger back in 76.
So the 27,000 on opening night wore crossover noise bands
