How did Tessa Daly get the job

West Australian Racing
How Did Tessa get this Gig was shocking didn’t give anything and sounded way out of her depth.Surely the job should be given to someone who actually knows what they are talking about it was cringeworthy listening to her only downside of the coverage IMO

Thrown in the deep end, they should of had her in there with the team prior to yesterday enabling her to get over those early nerves,to spoilt when we had Brittany there, give her a chance.

I don't think this thread serves a great purpose. Whoever decides on 'on air talent' is quite a few pay grades higher than this young lady. For that decision one can only presume was to throw her in at the deep end is not really her fault. However the coverage up to this point hasn't been world beating so when Tessa finds her feet she hopefully will add something to the coverage.

Can someone tell the cameraman to not focus on the crowd, clearly it was an ordinary day one of a carnival and no pr spin can cover the obvious.

The crowd was OK, the amount I'm not sure but the upstairs dining in members was well stacked and the bookies ring did good business (I know this for a fact) as I spoke to a couple whom I know well. As a first day of Pinnacles I think the day was well patronaged with the 2 best days still to come

Perth Racing stated 4,200 on course. My only question is, do you count patrons, staff, Trainers, Jockeys horses and birds flying past? They also stated it was a 33% increase on last year. Last year they didn't publicise that less than 3,000 people attended on the same day.

Next they will claim the Champion Fillies was a true Gr 3 quality race.

Not commenting on the coverage have never seen it what channel is it on?
Agree on the audio at Belmont it was terrible still at Ascot at least make the first floor punting area great sound atm its horrible most pubtabs aren't even playing the races now.
Spend some money on good audio so you can at least go somewhere and hear a race clearly if you want too at the races. Seriously its another reason to stay at home and watch on the TV.

Tessa was slightly better this week
But imo needs training on what to look for
Eg has the horse improved fitness wise(understand she probably doesn’t know as she’s only just started, hence the f up chucking her in the deep end)
    Is the horse moving freely
Is the horse relaxed or stirred up
    What’s it coat like
And my pet hate from the yard is when they use form etc to influence their tips
Go with the one that catches the eye, ticks the boxes and looks ready to win
    Don’t worry if it’s a 30/1 shot
Anyway keep it simple, have a routine and she’ll get there

Hi silky, I beg to differ, You do the form and you check the horses as you described and if they match there appearance in the yard then all systems go.. If not bet smaller.. I just do the form..

do you really think they are her selections? they would be a mixture of, say, lauchie and a few others.
to stay safe she could parrot ernies tips....

It's a shame they decided to throw her in the deep end during the Pinnacles.
I'm sure with time she'll be good but like anything, it takes time spent on the job to hone the craft.
The people who decided to thrust her into that role with zero experience are the ones to blame, not the girl herself
