I need to watch the replay again. I thought Socks Nation wore red colours?

So watching the replay, he gets it right it the back because Port Lockroy is outside the leader with Socks Nation correctly being called in third. At the 600m Socks Nation has been correctly called moving to second. Top of the straight he gets it right ........... Socks Nation begins to tire and he is now calling the yellow colours on the outside as Socks Nation not what was red only moments ago.

Past the post and Socks Nation is called the winner but is way back and in the run on commentary, he doesn't notice his mistake. The race video is cut off the moment he mentions Port Lockroy for the first time since the 300M.

I'm just opening some popcorn and sitting back watching the show.

Gotta feel for the bloke. Close to worst nightmare for a race caller doing that in a G1.

Unfortunately I think he realized at the 75m mark and got a bit jumbled with "tun rate"...
I mean it's bad. Bit there are worse things I suppose.

Two different events and people but we love making BIG blues in our most important races. Macca calling the wrong horse as the winner in the railway and goofing up the quokka barrier draw. We really are a backyard operation

The bloke made a mistake, was embarrassed and apologised profusely. He'll be awake at 2am for the next month thinking about it and cringing no doubt.

Absolute rubbish rodent....the man made a mistake and put his hand up apologizing profusely.
I am in awe that you have never made a blue....

Didnt need to look but knew who would have motored to put this post up, the great front runner. Never exposes himself to risk  but gets on the roller skates when he finds fault.
Probably couldnt call out the bingo numbers.
Shocking mistake in the worst possible race but he owned it.

Nothing better than watching the replay(numerous times) when training ,owning ,riding or driving a winner ,especially a big one.
Unfortunately all involved will have to watch this one with the sound turned down.
Will take the shine of the memories,
    Feel for them as well.

Agree with that but sure he will offer to dub one for them, not the same but might soften the disappointment

Too many distractions someone said. I don't really know what they were hinting at.

Can I also say, the colour and light settings of the broadcast are terrible, everything is set for highlights in the sky and colours are saturated in everything else with no definition in the shadows. It might as well be a broadcast from the 80's.

I only watched two races. How was the young lady this week for all those who had an opinion last week?

I know the tipsters were at their usual level.

They have re-done the replay commentary. Smart thinking. Das is a tremendous caller and no one would be more distressed than Darren . Let it go people - everyone has made a big (this isn’t big in terms of real life events) error in their lives. At the end of the day, no one died or suffered pain.

I've just watched the replay of the final 600 on instagram and it's been re-dubbed  :-?

What about the run of the race Lets Galahvant! Called 12th and ran 5th with the 2nd fastest 600!
    Spare me!
Sorry I would be sacked if that's my job!

Re-dubbed version now on CRIS. The original is also on CRIS (Stewards Vision).

Unfortunately in the re-dubbed version Darren in the run on called Zipaway twice, called Let's Galahvant beating only 2 home (when it ran 5th), called Mojo Rhythm last (when it ran 6th) and omitted Searchin Rocs, Bustler, Light Infantryman and Belclare.

    Maybe needs another re-dub?

Ok the reality is Darren is still lengths in front of the other callers here so until one jumps out as a real good caller he has the job as long as he likes.

Daz Mac has been skewered in the social media by people who couldn't call the laundry on their washing line let alone two paddle pop sticks floating across a puddle. It is a great pity that it was the Railway and not a country maiden.

If those errors in his second call of the race as reported on here are true then that is very ordinary however at least he got back on the horse so to speak and called that great finish in the last.

Having said all that I do believe there was even greater disappointment in the fact that my two best bets on the day finished second beaten on the line. The Merryman @ $34 and Deamber @ $13 and Lets Galahvant should have just about won the Railway @$71 :D I did have a very profitable day but oh what could have been

He would have had to call off the replay on a small tv, no hope of seeing the run on.

He did have the official finishing order he could have used.

I agree everyone makes mistakes, racecalling can’t be easy and the fact Darren made a clanger in a group 1 is really bad luck. But unfortunately the redub was sloppy.

My thoughts too Ngawyni... whilst he would've been cooked after all that happened, I would've thought he would want to make the re-dubbed version near-on perfect. Pretty sure only 12 of the 16 runners were called in the finish

Pretty sure the replay was only edited ifrom just before Port Lockroy hit the lead.
