It's happening far too often now. Race 5 Bunbury, what a shocker.

i took the horse to the races that was called the winner, The trainer who was in Melbourne and had a little something on the horse which was called the winner. Said to me after the race, **** im glad i was watching the tv and not listening to the radio

I had that thought. Some poor bloke has backed it at 150-1 and listened to the radio. Talk about a gut punch.

The horse that was called the winner ran a huge race, finished 4th 3 wide the trip, and a minor injury before the race, the good run was not unexpected

Ryan Hill runners can be interesting. Where did he learn to become a trainer? Parnham?

Talking about a trainer being tutored by Neville Parnham (presume he was) whatever happened to former jockey Tim Stubberfield

Pinjarra on Thursday in race 5, I backed Schubert and listened to the race on the radio.

By the call I thought it must have won by a clear margin, I watched the replay and the official margin was a nose and he never called the 2nd horse at any stage. I think he called it 4th , i know its a hard gig but these mistakes or close calls are getting more frequent.

Was pointed out to me God Has Spoken raced in the last at Pinjarra on Thursday  :O) & not forget the Smooth Chant/Chino error at the big Pinjarra day. Not sure why this is happening, but not a good look/hear

Then again Sunday, race 4 Tawkin Jibberish running to the front, when it was My Lovely Pet. Happening to often.

I like the bloke, He is a nice guy, but i always remember someone saying to me many years ago, ' Darren is a great caller as long as you are not watching the race"

Was suprised both Dmac & Scott Embrey never had in their first four selections, the horse in super form, and smashed in late on Tote to $3.80. Loved the ride to from Alex Hearn who bullied his way off the inside just before the turn, race was pretty well over from that point.

Just watched the replay, think you have that wrong about calling TJ hitting front, called MLP first, then TJ as though it was going to run over the top of all of them, which it didn't

Don't worry about Darren still a great caller ,what about the other caller I just heard Impressive jeauny go around in the second at Pinjarra that horse retired years ago.

All that tells me, they both like bringing horses back from retirement, I saw above DM called God Has Spoken a few weeks back https://app.p.racingwa.com.au/meetings/thoroughbred/2025-03-06/Pinjarra Park/5184965/race/7/5407126

He's losing the plot. Race 3 Belmont.
I grew up listening to calls on the radio. I can't recall being misled as to the winner over years let alone multiple times over a few months.

Reading this I thought I would watch and listen, of course already knowing the result and I still got confused by the call on the line.

I think he must call in this manner to try and inject some excitement that otherwise isn't there, because She's Hot never looked like getting beaten from the 100M and if the race had gone on a bit further,  Golden Opera may have run second over the top but it wouldn't have caught the winner either.

I can't recall seeing a similar discussion about any other race caller in Australia with this frequency of errors for the last couple of years. What can you say. He calls like a protected species.

have you ever thought it maybe the amount of calls, its nothing for him to call sat., sun, wed and thurs. unfortunately we do not have any back-up callers with any calibre of talent.

So let me get this straight, you are defending a bloke who is making mistakes, but then you go & **** can every other caller. OK %-(

Richard Bell is a star at the trots but his gallop calls can be a bit hit and miss. With some consistent calls on metro tracks he may get there. Darren is a class act with a wonderful clear voice and so many great calls but he has been off his game lately

Crikey psycho saying RB is a star at the trots a bit over the top, no race caller makes more mistakes than him.

The thing about Richie that pizzes me right off is when he says how far the field is from 1st to last... he'll say "must be 15 from the leader".
When I hear this I look and there'd be about 8 lengths 1st to last.
Anyone listening would think that is 15 lengths. Almost time to tear up your ticket stuff if your nag is at the rear, but in fact it isn't anything close to what it is.
Is it a trot thing? Either way Richie, can you fix that?

Fair enough I'm not a trotting man, I watch the BIG events and the occasional Friday night race when not much else on, but I do like the calls I hear
